  1. Will the SP-01 thats been basically converted to the shadow with all its upgrades make weight for SSP? Or will just the Shadow be legal for SSP? I have a SP-01 that i'm praying will get light enough to make IDPA SSP division
  2. I'm trying out a couple of different IDPA ESP setups right now. I have a STI commander length 9mm setup with a SVI magwell, and 126mm magazines etc.. Great piece. I'm also trying a CZ setup out, so I can remain consistent for next year as my production gun for USPSA is a CZ. I'm probably going to end up selling the STI setup (I use Chris Stewart holster and mag carriers btw...) just so I can stay consistent with the same gun frame when playing in two classes If it wasn't for wanting to shoot some USPSA production, I'd NEVER stray away from the STI.
  3. Thanks for the advice! I've always been a person who has to do something kind of different and the 9x23 fits that perfectly! I really appreciate the comments. If the drop in kit still needs a little bit of massaging to fit, thats preferred with me, I just didn't want to go through a complete gunsmith normal fitting job with it...
  4. has anybody here used one of these drop in barrel kits from Nowlin? I'm starting a new commander project, and I'm wondering the accuracy and quality of fitment that people have experienced with these kits. It's not going to be a competition gun, just looking for reliability, with resonable accuracy. I'm not looking for an absolute 25 yard 1 hole machine, maybe 2-2.5" accuracy... It's going to be a caspian framed, colt slide 9x23 commander setup. (I just like different projects, something out of the norm LOL)... Any advice would be great! Thanks!
  5. WOW, thats exactly what i'm looking at for a production/SSP setup. Very nice piece! Enjoy that thing!!! I don't have any problem with glare. Plus I like the contrast of the black sites on the stainless slide.
  6. Any updates if you got your lower or not yet? Just wondering what uppers everyone is using with these as well. I'm looking into an AR setup and I think i'm going to order this lower on tuesday, and am currently looking at which upper is the best for a flat top setup for a 3 gun AR. Essential also makes uppers, which i'm considering as well, just haven't heard anything on them... Any experiences out there?
  7. most of the idpa shooting range is pretty short distance, and the commander length pieces i've shot in the past (just indoor range target etc... as i've only shot 1 idpa match, i'm very much a rookie) still shot very consistent and seemed to be plenty accurate. Plus i'm a very small stature person and they feel much more natural sized for me to control between transistions. I just feel like i can handle that sized gun better and quicker, in 9mm there still isn't any recoil, still less flip than a glock, and its almost the length of a glock 17 which do very well. Those were my primary reasons for choosing the commander length. My limited STI i'm building in 40 is government size with full length dust cover as i need that extra weight out front to help me handle the muzzle flip... Those were just this rookie's thoughts when choosing my setups...
  8. it is a 4.25" setup. In the middle of fitting the brown ambi safety right now. what a PITA, the safety tab on it is HUGE compared to most others, going to take a lot of filing even on the back side to allow the safety to slide completely to the bottom of its travel!
  9. STI 2011 Commander length: 9mm Shuemann setup Brown Match Bushing Aftec extractor STI Magwell (that I still have to shave down ) Ed Brown Ambi safety Ed Brown grip safety STI TAS adjustable rear, sti plain front I cannot wait to get this setup going!!!
  10. It's almost finished... just have to finish up the brown thumb safety and reinstall the mag release! here it is:
  11. i've been searching and I haven't come up with much when searching for a good magwell or modified magwell's on STI 2011's people are using in ESP class. I'm currently finishing up the details on my dream ESP gun. An STI 2011, commander length setup in 9mm. Any advice or photos anyone could provide would be very helpful. I appreciate any and all feedback!!! of course i'll be posting pics once completed
  12. Awesome! thanks for the feedback. I will probably end up this route, just to get into rifles and see if its something I would really like to go forward with, before having a custom smith do an AR for me specifically for 3-gun setup. This DPMS would be for plinking at the local 600 yard range that we have to get me started
  13. I've done some searching and i haven't found any posts regarding this particular rifle. I'm interested in doing some 3 gun matches later next year. I'm looking at the DPMS Bull 20 to use as a start for now and for it to be a very good platform to learn with and very solid to add on some finishing touch pieces to make it competetive as a go along. Just wondering if any of you guys have seen it or used it and could offer any advice? Thanks!

I was and still am in shock they stopped the fight, I agree 100% shamrock was dazed from the first elbow, but he was starting to bring the hands up and move his head to cover when the ref stopped it. I just felt like someone ripped the 40.00 right outta my pocket. The worst thing about it, was my GF went home to visit her parents (5 hours away) and she paid for it too!!! So we wasted 80.00 to watch it be stopped. The fight with Mir, well, I'm not even wasting my time typing about it, horrendous... The heavyweight battle wasn't a battle at all, the guys BOTH had WAY too much respect for each other, knowing one false move and they were done, it was smart on their part, but very uneventful to watch...
  15. Well, the results are in. I finished 15 out of 33 shooters Not happy with those results, but I know a lot of areas that I could do so much better on. I also know of a few things that cost me probably all told 10-15 seconds of time over the entire match So overall, i'm still extremely excited, and which everyday i could be at the range I'll be better next time and thats all that counts!!! btw... I averaged out my time per shot average and if I post that towards a 90 round classifier, I would've been solidly in the Expert class, and only about 8-10 seconds out of Master in ESP... I know its not a fair comparison, but its a start Thats my new goal, to become master by the middle of next year!... Lofty goal, I know, but i'm a very challenging to myself Thanks again for all the help you guys give on this forum!!!
  16. Any updated pics yet? I'm so curious, as i'm ordering parts to "redo" my springer at the end of this year lol!! Love seeing all these builds!
  17. That thing is absolutely a beautiful piece! She is one very lucky woman!
  18. With the holiday etc.. found out the results won't be posted on website until thursday or friday! i felt very happy with my times for the limited time i've been shooting. I did have some mental errors on one stage, gun jammed on another stage, and a RO held me up for a few seconds on a 3rd stage! Other than that it was a complete blast, and I find myself looking for when the next match will be held already lol! I was able to shoot with 2 master class shooters in my group, and it made everything awesome to have a front row seat for lol, I was very excited to shoot close to their times on 1 stage though! Felt pretty incredible to come close to their times ( i'll chalk it up to beginners luck ) Anyways, can't wait to see the results posted, i'm really hoping for a top 10 finish. If not, I still gave it a good run!!!!
  19. Well, I did it! I shot my first match ever today!! It was a great time, a little hot, but still a 10 on the fun scale. I don't have an idea yet of how I scored as they were not finished with the results yet. It was just great to see some fast shooters in my group tear the courses up though! The adrenaline rush that you feel is awesome, definitely a sport a lot more people should get out and try!!! A huge thanks to all you guys on this forum for helping a real noob who doesn't get much practice time learn fundamentals! Thanks to Steve Moneypenny as well for driving up and shooting the match with me!
  20. I went back to the range today shooting groups at 20 yards with the 1911, and after some short dry fire work the night before and some shooting today, I was shooting the 1911 comfortably again. I appreciate the feedback, it just took a few rounds downrange to pick it back up! It's nice to have a gun that fits my hand all the way around the grip again but I do miss my 34, going to be a sad day when i sell it
  21. Sorry to dig this thread up, but I have the same gun in 9mm and was looking to replace the rear grip safety on mine as well. I ordered the S&A .220 radius one, and it is no where near looking like it will fit mine. I'm wondering if mine has a .250 radius already possibly? Did you happen to try any other grip safeties on this gun? I'm wondering if possibly on the milspec line has the .220 radius on them?
  22. I know its just me, and the comfort I got into position wise shooting mainly the glock, but switching back now to the 1911 for good. I just could not get the glock to fit my hand no matter how much i tried to will power it to fit lol It'll probably just take some dry firing and another range trip to figure it all out!
  23. i appreciate the feedback! I think i'm going to try one in my 9mm ESP setup!
  24. Any people using it? Is it durable ? I'm referring to the sight that fits in Springfield's standard novak rear sight notch? I'm looking for a good adjustable rear for my 9mm 1911 from Springfield and this seems to be a great option if durable
  25. I have a Springfield loaded model 9mm that has been flawless, never one failure to date. The 9mm is a ton of fun to shoot in the 1911! Definitely a great choice
