  1. I have loaded with both the Dillon 550 and 650. I purchased the LNL as it, IMHO, is the best out there. I have the older model with the ejection wire. Since I polished the lips on my shell plates and polished the ejection wire, I never have problems with stuck cases. Even with the 9mm. The Dillon's are good but, I truly feel the LNL is a better design. Read this: http://www.comrace.ca/cmfiles/dillonLeeHornadyComparison.pdf It's a great read evaluating progressive presses.
  2. Montana Gold 124gr Win 231 4.6grs Win primer Asst Brass I have 2 S&W STOCK M&P 9mm's, and a SA 1911 "loaded target" 9mm. From machine rest at 25 yards the both M&P's put 10 rounds in 2.7 inches. The 1911 puts 10 rounds in SLIGHTLY larger than 2 inches (2.2 - 2.3"). I do not have a chronograph. It's on the wish list
  3. There seems to be quite a few Blue press owners liking the Red press after they have loaded on both. Even though I may receive death threats from the Blue guys; I have used both and liked the Red press the best. It's kinda like a Chevy verses Ford issue. Both are excellent!!
  4. Hornady will retro fit your older press AND, TWO SHELL PLATES for $100. Other shell plates you want modified are $10.00 a piece.
  5. BTW: HP-38 and Win 231 IS THE SAME POWDER. Loading DATA is interchangeable. I had a about 1000 Rainier Plated 180gr FP bullets laying around and wanted to shoot them in my 40 S&W standard M&P. I used 4.3 grs of W-231, Federal primers. With a Caldwell Machine rest at about 25 yards, my M&P shot 20 rounds into slightly less that 2". I started with 3.9 grs and worked up to 4.5 grs of W231. Most grouped at 3"-4", some as high a 6". But, my M&P really like that 4.3gr load of W231 Nice load that worked great on last weekends IDPA match.

  7. (1) What is your favorite powder for loading 9 mm, bullets LIGHTER than 120 grs? (2) What is your favorite powder for loading 9 mm, bullets HEAVIER than 120 grs? I have handloaded for years. I never bothered loading the 9 mm as it was cheap and I didn't shoot it very much. All that's changed! It ain't cheap anymore. And, I have a new pistol that MY WHOLE FAMILY loves to shoot. You guessed it, a 9 mm!
