  1. Ya my go to is hs6 under a 115. I really like it. I read someone had success with 105 but I don't see it. It will be fun for steel but I can't see getting enough in it. Even if I could get 9.5g to compress and seat, idk if it would hit major. What did your data get to?

A long time ago....hs smith did a lot of testing with n105.... He posted 5.4 KKM barrel at 169 PF with 10.8 gn, 115 at 1.195 OAL. With a 115 JHP you have more room in the case. I remember he noted that the cases would not grip the bullet enough to be reliable. The bullet would shift in the mag etc.

  2. So far no issues. I don't think I'll make major with N105 but if I can get close it will be fun for steel. I'm picking up some spacers now anyway. I have to fix my nosedive issue.

If steel is your objective....you don't need to fill the case and scrape the excess to level the top of the case...

  3. If you can find one that runs that includes mags (including at least 1 170 mm mag) then the are just fine. The only real downside to them is that they are heavy having a steel frame, and there is much less aftermarket parts support.

    All that too!

  4. I spoke with C More on the the 7th. The representative doubted they would be showing an RTS3 but did confirm they are always working on new projects. I asked if a new RTS 3 would have the same footprint as the RTS2 and was told it would be identical. I was told C More is continuing to develop the RTS2 product.

I think C-more would be real stupid to change the foot print of the RTS 3. New mounts required = slow sales. Not a good business decision. The way I read this.....C-more will not have it ready for the shot show.

  5. I just loaded some N 105 at 1.20 to see if it can be done... I'm having nose dives in my 140mm so I hope this fixes it! I'm at my press now. 5bac50609f64a1d9944708d94270c7c1.jpg61635b61be331b4ca8b52a5e8fb74950.jpg

Your asking for trouble. N105 will not make major. A 9 case will barely hold a projectile at 1.185. You are really compressing the powder and the powder will PUSH the bullet higher in the case after they are loaded. Even if you could do it-most 9 chambers will not allow a 9 loaded that long. I bet you can pull the bullet out of the case with your fingers once loaded. Not good!

  6. The question I have thinking of maybe making a Caspian Open Gun my first open gun. I am a super senior and haven't been even shooting USPSA that long but would like to give open a try. At my age not sure the gun is going to make all that much difference and don't expert to be competing at a top level and I can find Caspians at a much more affordable price to give a try.

Any reason this would be a bad idea?

You would be better off to pick up a used STI 9 or 38S from a known seller on Enos. Mags are easier to find. Being a SS myself, forget 38S as you don't want to be bending over all the time picking up brass. Go 9 Major and have fun.

  7. Hey guys,

Getting into loading shotgun and I like to keep as few powders on hand as possible. I use titegroup for my 9mm minor rounds (uspsa pf) and am getting ready to load 12 gauge for 3 gun... titegroup burns fast and hot in pistol. Is it safe to say my shotgun would be hotter than if i were to run something like titewad?

with weapon manipulation on the range during a match, guys burn their support hand on shotguns all the time while reloading. Just want to make sure titegroup wouldnt be significantly hotter (temp) than your average store bought similar load.

Forget Titegroup You want Titewad (Hodgdon). !!!!!

  8. Precision Delta 124 jhps are $7 cheaper per 1000 if you buy 2000 or more.

MG are worth the extra $7.

PD take less powder and seals better. I don't see any lead my comp now. The other side--the gas is working the comp better also.

I've never heard that before - thanks for the input.

I've been using MG for 8 years now - have to learn more about

    these PD's.

Me too until PD started producing them in quantity.

  9. Not necessarily.

Precision Delta 124 jhps are $7 cheaper per 1000 if you buy 2000 or more.

MG are worth the extra $7.

Sorry buddy, but I disagree. Montana gold was "the" player for open. Always had bullets in stock (mostly). I have switched to Precision Delta now that PD is producing a 115 and 124 JHP. Montana Gold bullets do not seal as well in the barrel. Who cares right? What I noticed is a hell of lot more lead in my comp with MG. How so with JHP (No exposed lead base)? The gas is escaping past the bullet and melting the lead in the JHP. Does not happen with PD.

PD take less powder and seals better which equals higher power factor. I don't see any lead my comp now. The other side--the gas is working the comp better also.

  10. It is not that I don't feel safe....just that I feel safer going to 1/2 cock.

There is no real competitive advantage gained from what I can see, why not do all we can to be as safe as we can?

Nothing to do with competitive advantage.

Folks are missing the obvious.... A gun WITHOUT a DECOCKER is not designed to be carried with the hammer at halfcock.

A gun WITH a decocker that drops the hammer to halfcock is the way the gun is designed to function.

A gun WITH a decocker that drops the hammer completely is not designed to have the hammer carried at halfcock.

  11. just start shooting open and I don't have one! really don't see the need for it.

Look at the mechanics of an unloaded table start. In open it is all about time. A slide racker is faster-key in on the position of the gun during each operation--jam, light primer, loading to an empty gun.

  12. That's a long time for a non custom gun

Not when you think about the business side. The DVC is sorta custom. The average person is not going to walk into Gander Mountain and expect to see several in the case.

I would not mass produce the DVCs either. You order an SVI or Brazos or Cheely, Bedell, Akai, etc.. and the wait time is a year +

  13. I have noticed in training that during cold weathers my muscles tend to react and move much slower than in Summer. Especially the fingers. For example, Bill Drill I could only manage 2.0 sec in Winter vs. 1.8 in Summer.

I guess a hand warmer would help. What other tips do you have to improve performance in cold weather shooting?

Cold weather in Texas....are you serious.... :roflol::devil:

  14. It's an either or thing I think. I have tried both. Side by side a 124 is a bit softer ( almost can't feel it) but the dot tracking, for me, is better with a 115. Same powered, same pf same gun same make of bullet.

I agree. 124s just seem to have a "push" versus a "snap". 115s are a tad bit cheaper than 124s. The powder difference is insignificant.

  15. HS-7, nice. I don't shoot 9 open but do most 9 open shooters run 115gr? Thanks

Seems to me that most people I talk to shoot 124/5's because of the lowered case volume. I like the 115's though, personally.

115s with 9.1 of HS6 even with 5 poople holes in 9 Major. Pretty sweet.

  16. A local guy bought a brand new Limcat open in 9 Major last summer and I was able to shoot a couple of rounds through it. It was a work of art. The slide moved like it was on butter.

  17. And a whole lot of people who already have production legal guns can't try out this new division without buying a new gun. As Zhunter said, you want to open the flood gates and see who is really interested then you need to remove the rule which is keeping a whole bunch of us from shooting it because we're not going to buy a new gun to try this out ....

and please let's not do the "go shoot open" argument since taking my CZ Shadow with an optic to shoot open is not in the same league with shooting an STI open gun ...

Sorry, I don't buy there is a flood awaiting the opening of the weight limit gates. The Division is called "Carry Optics" how many people carry (concealed) 40-50 oz guns....not many.

Many wanted this Division and didn't get exactly what they wanted. I am not going to carry a CZ SP01 Accu Shadow on my hip all day, not to mention investing $1700 in a carry gun.. If you are, your not the median. (Weight Issue)

Round Count? Look up actual shootings....if you need more than 2 rounds, you probably should have kept your gun in the holster and retreated to a safer location.

Carry Optics (gun wise) is like Production--Cheap for the average competitor. The optic is more than half the cost of a new gun. If you can't afford to buy a $500 gun, then stay on the porch.

  18. Spacers? Not an issue. The plastic ones don't rattle and work! I can run 38SC or 9 Maj in my mags with a simple follower change and removal of the spacers.

9 or 38 --You can make GM with either. The real question, " What is your budget" 38S is just more expensive.

  19. So my Fiance and I got into a discussion the other day about USPSA/Shooting Sports in general. I started competing in USPSA back in April 2015 and have come a long way. I quickly went from B to Master Class in production in a matter of months. I shot roughly 5 major matches and I have become very entrenched in the shooting community locally at two different clubs. My fiance was super supportave the entire year, but just recently she told me that she does not want to become a "shooters wife". Now I dont want to give up everything that I have invested in....or renounce all of my new friends in the community so that is out, but I am looking for general advice on how to come out with both parties happy.

    So, my question is:

Who has experienced this, and how did you work through it?

If you made a compromise, then how did you do it?

Look inside for the answer. What is important to you! Once you say "I do", the game changes forever. What if golf was your passion-Would she say the same! I ride a Harley for fun. If a woman doesn't ride-its a no-brainer. I move on.

Again, what is important to you. Woman are like houses--you may really like the one your looking at, but there is always a nicer one around the corner.
