  1. These are advertised as, "Debris Channels"...sort of a ported main leg of the connector intended to prevent debris from accumulating. You can read more here: http://www.ghostinc.com/category/50_tactical/ I've used the Ghost standard and Rocket connectors and was a bit ambivalent on their performance. The last one I tried was a Ghost Rocket in my G34. The over-travel tab worked as advertised but I wound up swapping it out for a LWD 3.5 LB connector and handling over-travel differently...on this one, the reset was very weak and shooting with my weak hand, found unintended doubling occurred on occasion.
  2. I've shot just about every possible combo of the Dawson sights - I think the .125 rear fixed with a .105 front is a good choice. I personally like a rear notch a bit wider than .125 but it does work. I like his adjustables as well. They are taller than his fixed but they work great as well. I've also tried all the Dawson combinations and like them quite a lot. Through the process I finally settled on the plain adjustable rear and .100 FO front. The FO rears are gorgeous sights but for my eyes, I actually shoot better with the plain one...they're so bright the bit of "Christmas tree effect" with FO front and back was a little too busy. A couple of days ago I installed a new pair of Dawson adjustables on a spanking new G21 which confirmed my suspicions...the Big Dawg is a tack driver...
  3. I checked out that site. Very interesting. Has anyone tried/used one of these ejectors from Dale Rhea ??? I run one on my G34 when shooting a comped KKM barrel & CMore|Carver Hunter Model setup. Without it (and without lowering the ejection port), every now & then a case would bounce back to gum up the works especially, when using lighter weight loads. After popping in Dales housing with modified ejector it not only slings 'em clear but I was able to go from an 11 LB spring to a 13. Running the stock barrel I still use the 13 LB spring and just switch back to the OEM housing & ejector.
  4. There's a new version that should be available June 15th that has some good points...longer than stock, not quite as long as OEM extended, nicely shaped. Designed by Larry Vickers and manufactured by TangoDown: http://www.vickerstactical.com/MagCatchPage/MagRelease.htm http://tangodown.com/shop/product_info.php...f080fedc4f451fc
  5. It's the same rear as their "Classic" series night sights as comes in the GL-113 set. If you need a complete set, contact Rick Callahan at Ameriglo and tell him you need the GL-113 with the 112T (narrow) front sight substituted for the standard which, he will gladly do at no additional charge. If you already have a set of Trijicons on the weapon you might just want to swap out the front, the 112T will be perfectly compatible. I might mention that the 112T comes standard with their "Operator" series of sights the difference being, on the Operator rear sights, the rear tritium tubes are plain - no white rings - where on the Classics, they have the white outlines much as Trij's & Mepps.
  6. I run the Ameriglo Classic Night Sights on my carry weapon with their model 112T (target) front substituted for the standard width front. http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_...ont_sights.html The night sight picture is identical but the narrow front improves my groups on the range. Rick at Ameriglo will make the substitution for the 112 upon request when ordering the package or if you already have a good rear, the 112T is all you would need.
  7. Thanks for the replies. Since some have had them come loose I'll assume "Dawson knows best" and I (reluctantly) took 'em off & degreased then, reinstalled as per their written directions. The only thing I did differently was to use a little blue Loctite on the actual dovetail instead of red. I did use red on the 2 hex head screws but I just couldn't bring myself to laying a coat of it into the dovetail...instructions or not. As tight as they naturally fit I can't see much good coming from trying to break Loctite 271 loose in the dovetail...
  8. I'm curious if those of you running the Dawson Adjustables followed the accompanying instructions to use a coat of Loctite 271 (Red) in the rear sight dovetail. I just switched out a set of Fixed Dawsons on a G34 to the adjustables and found them pretty tight. Frankly, they seem as tight as conventional sights and I can't really see them moving but I'd like to see what others have experienced. As tight as they seemed to me going in, once loctited, they could be really tough to break free to remove.

    Scherer +2

I agree the Arrendondos are top-notch and, that the "speed unload thing" is a common trait among aftermarket extensions. That said, I've not had any problem whatsoever with Glock's factory +2's. I've ran them with no problem and still do on my G17 and G34. I would also mention that I wouldn't want to rely on any of the "Plus" setups without increasing the mag spring...there is a reason the OEM Plus-2's have the 11 (1-additional) coil spring.
  10. +1 on the Bladetech DOH...very smooth.
  11. Someone a few weeks ago asked about some range holsters including, the Bladetech DOH. I finally received mine today (ordered in March) along with 2-Dual Mag Pouches, all in their carbon fiber finish. FWIW, I was told up front that delivery on the carbon finish would be 8 weeks and later got an email saying it would be a little longer due to giving priority to military obligations first. I totally respected their decision and did not mind the delay under the circumstances and must say, I think it was worth the wait. This is a great range rig and having the additional 4 mags at hand will be very nice indeed.
  12. Flex is right, B&B Enterprises (Bobby Carver) does offer a modified CR Speed rig specifically modified for the CMore | Carver Mount setup. There are a couple of others out there as well but for my money, I know I can rely on Bobby...he is absolutely great in helping out on technical problems and has the knowledge to do it well.
  13. Finally got a chance to get my recoil spring tinkering done on my Glock 34 today. It's set up with a Ralph Sotelo triggerkit, KKM 3-port comped barrel and a CMore | Carver Mount sight. As with virtually all Glocks it eats virtually anything but the comped barrel changed that. Hoping to get it to run on 115 GR Blazer (due to low price) and knowing I would have to reduce the recoil spring weight to cycle properly, I initially dropped in a 15LB ISMI. Had excessive failure to ejects with the 15 and dropped to 13 which was a marked improvement but still had quite a few FTE. Cut 3 1/2 coils off the 13 LB and results were better still but continued have occasional FTE...eventually cut another 1 1/2 coils (5 total) with no change. I might mention that 147 GR loads cycle the stock 13LB spring just fine, the problem is with 115 and even 124's. Ordered one of the new (to me anyway) 11LB ISMI springs and had a chance to wring it out today. Problem solved...cycles the 115's and 124's just fine. My only reservation is that I've not seen anyone having to go that light. I saw no signs of getting out of battery, all primer strikes were dead center and plenty strong enough to light the fire. Although the 147's cycle fine with the 13LB spring I shot a few with the 11LB setup and aside from a little more velocity on the ejected hulls, it felt smooth with these as well. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has used a spring this light in a Glock and any comments...
  14. I can't say about the Safariland but I have had the Bladetech DOH and a couple of their double pouches on order for a couple of weeks now and I'll be happy to let you know how it shakes out when it arrives (currently 6 weeks delivery on the model I ordered). As far as the dropped-style, I guess I'm a bit of an "old school" revolver type and I find it a more natural draw with the gun positioned lower which was the primary reason I opted for the Bladetech.
  15. As you are probably aware, the Ghost Rocket will require some fitting before use. The (orange) "armorer's" slide cover plate will be handy to have during this however, isn't essential although a time-saver. I've never tried this connector but it seems to be a love | hate relationship among those who have tried it with about as many on one side as the other. FWIW, I've installed 3 of the Lone Wolf (their brand) 3.5 LB connectors in 3 different Glocks and found them superb. They are noticably crisper than the other 3.5's I've tried with clean, quick reset. If you are unhappy with the Ghost after trying it I would wager the 10 bucks spent on the LW connector would make you a happy camper and round out your setup nicely.

    Kkm For G17

I use a comped (new 3-port version) KKM on my G34 so the situation is very similar to yours. When I ordered, I asked about recoil springs and they said I would likely have to go to 13 LBs. I had a 15 in the gun and tried it using factory 115 GR loads and it would FTE every few loads. The 13 LB spring helped quite a bit but it required removing about 4 1/2 coils to solve the problem. I might note that 147 GR loads cycle the 15 LB spring reliably...the "snap" of ejected brass is noticeably better with the heavier load. I did not have a production 11 LB spring with me the day I did the springs test but have one now and intend to try on next opportunity.
  17. Pretty much spot on. I'm running Raph's setup in my G34 and like it quite a lot but with that said, it does affect the trigger safety a bit on mine. The trigger safety will faithfully reset upon cycling the slide to "make ready" which to Ralph's credit, he cautions users to immediately check this function 1st thing after install. On my 34, once the trigger safety is initially depressed it does not have sufficient striker spring force to re-engage it without manual assistance. From what I understand, this little "quirk" does not occur in every install but on the other hand, is common. I havn't checked but I would be willing to bet if 1 of the 3 changes cited by Flexmoney were reversed the trigger safety would return reset upon release.
  18. I wonder if the new threads are compatible with other comps?
  19. I'm wondering about that myself. I was a bit taken back when the guy mentioned the 3 ports since everything I've seen (including the KKM website) indicates 4 on the model I ordered. He said that they were putting the 4-ports on .40's and above and had gone to 3's on 9MM...?? It's enroute so not much I can to at this point except see what arrives and what it does...it's entirely possible that I happened to get someone on the phone that's less than up-to-speed on the details.
  20. I'm about finished with tricking out my G34 "Fun Gun" and just spoke to KKM about the last piece...one of their compensated barrels. After gleaning some insight from the other threads on cycling issues I asked them for their input on reliability and what they suggested. FWIW, they said to try the 15 LB spring I have installed and if necessary, drop to 13 if ejection is a problem or, if the brass barely clears. Some may also be interested to know that while virtually all the on-line information on this setup indicates a 4-port comp (2-up | 1-each side) the KKM employee said the G34 version is actually a 3-port (1-up | 1-each side). While I had him on the phone I inquired about the "drop-in" potential of their Glock barrels and according to him, it is the norm but he said that "occasionally", fitting was required. He did mention that they would handle the fitting if required.
  21. Excellent...the photos are very helpful. I'm going to try the same model and give it a spin. Thanks.
  22. Anyone have any feedback on these aluminum magwells particularly, do they lock up solid once mounted and do they fit without significant amount of fitting problems? http://www.jpar15.com/
  23. I absolutely love the Carver Mount. They are available with multiple mounting options and in 2 heights. The standard version mounts low but in some instances, may create ejection issues without lowering the ejection port a tad. The Hunter (higher) version eliminates the need to modify the ejection port and in fact, permits use of standard sights. I've found Bobby to be a nice guy who responds quickly to email and very knowledgeable in his products and firearms in general.
