pistols are a joke. Mainly for poges and REMFS.
Actual soldiers would rather have an extra canteen than a pistol.

In what era were you an "actual" soldier? If it was many decades ago, things have changed and pistols are absolutely value-added in various situations.

I did a LOT or research on this topic.  You have to be  certified to ship EXPLOSIVE Hazmat (Primers, Powder), the cost of getting certified makes getting it not economic.

The best option is to get a broker to ship for you BUT brokers I found ship TRUCKLOADS NOT cases, so it is REALLY a pain in the ass to ship primers or powder.

What was the cost to get certified? Just curious.

Yeah, central time. Bass pro drops at night and Natchez during the day. Download the app and sign up for notifications and people will post when they see stuff in stock. Be warned that if the notifications come up you have seconds to check out.

What I did was set up accounts, added powder to.my cart everyday and when primers showed up I was ready to buy.

I've also recently been turned on to the reloading discord's notification feature and it's solid; snagged up 2K CCI SPP about 20 minutes ago.

I think there is another set at almost 300. Or there was this afternoon.

But I watched 10k spp go for almost 5k on gb this week.

That has got to be some scalper-trolling going on, probably just people just bidding it up for s#!ts and giggles without any intention of actually paying if I had to guess. There are plenty of SPP available at the $150-$300 per 1K price range, can't imagine anyone is actually paying $500 per 1K (yet.... LOL!).

MG’s are $20 more per 1k rounds.  The demand has driven up raw material cost significantly so there was no way prices weren’t going to increase..

Fair enough, if you're only looking to buy lower quantities, then PD is indeed cheaper. I hadn't noticed, as I always buy in whatever increment necessary to achieve the lowest cost-per-round figure, which is 3750 rounds when it comes to MG 124gr 9mm JHP's.

    MG has a best-achievable-price of $0.096 CPR -vs- PD's best-achievable-price of $0.11175 CPR.

I don't blame PD for a instituting a price increase; they've been (and still are) selling out within minutes and cannot even come close to keeping up with demand—businesses exist to make money. As a consumer though, I'm obviously not going to want to pay more for a product at one place if an equivalent product is available elsewhere for less.

A case or by the thousands?

Whoops I bought 1000, not a case. Wouldn't have wanted more since their price is far inferior to MG now after the recent price hike. Picked some up have for self-defense loads since the MG's are a target specific round and don't have optimal expansion characteristics.

Bummer I spent three days in a row trying to grab CMJ at Montana Gold started refreshing every minute at 2pm pacific time until 3pm, no luck... does any one with experience buying from them know if they release closer to 1:30-2pm pacific time?

    Thx in advance!

Damn, sorry to hear that. The two times I've managed to grab a few cases, they've all been within the 2:00pm - 3:00pm window. @SeattleDude did say that one of the restocks he caught was at 1:21pm, so it looks like you'll just have to widen the timeframe you're monitoring the site if you want to be sure to catch it.

@ImpactDoc PD 124gr 9mm JHP's just restocked and still currently available:

Ordered again from Precision Delta this past Saturday, and just got the shipping memo; they should arrive on Wednesday, so this would be 5 days from order to delivery!

What caliber/grain did you purchase? Just curious.

  9. Montana Gold restocked 124gr JHP's, 124gr CMJ's, and 147gr CMJ's at 5:34pm EST this afternoon (10/19).  Both CMJ's are still currently in stock as of this post.

I managed to grab 3x cases of the 124gr JHP's, looks like they completely sold out within 4 minutes of being listed. I'm debating grabbing a whole lot more next time around just to be set and done for the next few years... also have a feeling that the Precision Delta 124gr JHP's are never coming back down to the 8.6 CPR pricepoint, making them not worth waiting around for as long as MG's are available.

Edit: Grabbed an additional 2x cases today (10/20).
    Restock was at 5:20 EST and consisted of 124gr JHP's, 124gr CMJ's, and 147gr CMJ's once again.

i mean ive been shooting coated lead through an open major gun for at least a year now with no negative effects at all.

That's pretty awesome, I'm sure the $$$ savings certainly are. I'm new to reloading & recreational shooting in general, so it is just a personal preference of mine to go with the cookie-cutter, tried and true combination of JHP + slow powder in order to minimize the amount of grief I give myself while going through the learning curve of reloading and tuning a load to fit my gun.

  11. Stocked up on 40K Federal SPM last Spring after doing some searching on this forum and others before deciding to buy; found ample users reporting to have no problems with using SPM in their 9mm Major loads. It gets asked frequently, and the majority consensus that I've always seen is that SPP, SPM, & SRP are all fine and largely interchangeable for 9mm Major loads as long as you're adjusting for PF accordingly.

    casting pot-70$

    mold-60-90$

    lead-free

    It pays for itself

I get it man, but it's not the money, it's everything else. The time and hassle arn't worth it for me when the best JHP's that money can buy are under 10 CPR. Even if it was an absolute breeze, took no time, and I was somehow gifted the expertise and capability to cast projectiles that consistently perform as good as top tier manufacturer's from day 1, I'm simply not interested in shooting exposed-lead or coated bullets through a compensated gun at major pf.

    Have you considered plated bullets?
I’ve been running them for years and have found them to be a very good alternative to FNJ. XTreme bullets currently has stock available in both 115 & 124 JHP

Thanks for the suggestion! I never really considered plated since JHP's were just as cheap or cheaper and regarded as the superior projectile type for 9-major. It appears the popular plated bullet manufacturer's still cost more than what top-quality JHPs cost, so I'm just going to keep holding out and buy up a couple cases of MG JHP's when I catch them on the daily restock.

    just shoot lead

cheaper and you can cast it yourself

While casting one's own projectiles seems like a pretty cool endeavor, I don't think the cost savings would be even remotely close to making the time, effort, hassle, and learning curve worthwhile for me. Personally, I'm not the type of person that derives particularly high levels of satisfaction or pride out of making my own bullets, so the novelty would be wasted upon me. I wouldn't even be reloading if I could buy a 9mm major load off the shelf that was well-suited to my gun at an equivalent or close-enough price point to what it costs me to assemble my own 9mm major load from components. Sacrilege, I know... 😅

  15. @SeattleDude Right on. I'll snag a few cases whenever I catch it, really appreciate the tip-off on the timing of the restocks!

Also, as a PSA to anyone else looking for JHP's; I gave Precision Delta a call today and they said they are no longer doing the waitlist for backorders since it got too out of hand/unmanageable. They've also raised prices slightly (Example: 124gr JHP's were previously 8.66 CPR, now raised to 10.175 CPR), so it looks like MG is the lowest CPR option nowadays.

RMR has 124 JHP for 10.2 cents each. They have about a 2 month wait I think though. Never heard a bad thing about their bullets. Could be worth getting in line

    Thanks, I'll hop on this if MG and PD don't pan out. Looks like PD's @ 8.6 CPR, MG's @ 9.1 CPR, RMR's @ 10.2 CPR.

it took me couple of days to snag few cases of 4000pc 115gr JHPs

Did they ship pretty quickly after you were finally able to snag some? Also, what method ended up working best for you? I'm assuming it involved monitoring the site and frequently refreshing between 1-3pm PST?
