It's amazing how on Enos a simple equipment question turns into a debate about how many rounds you need and if you should reload or not. Plenty of armchair GM's around to tell you, you'll never need a extra round in your gun and what you need to improve at, maybe suggest you man up and learn to reload. The OP's skill level and experience must to be brought into question clearly. All with little to no input related to the original question.

Thank you to those who stayed on point. If anyone finds this thread and is interested in the outcome. One of my mags is starting to work, but it's still to tight for my taste. The mags I bought where labeled as a "23 round kit" I thought I read it included the grams springs. Looking at my followers and comparing to others these are factory. Rereading the product description it doesn't say grams parts are included. So I just failed to read, probably just assumed having been told grams are needed for 23 to work. A set of grams internals will likely give me that tiny bit of room I need to run 100%. Not really a big deal.

Yea and gotta let it wear in a bit first. When i first did put them together the 23rd was rock solid no movement in the mag, after some use it gave some more wiggle room.

So it sounds like you are using the +5 TTI base pads along with the Grams kit to get 23 rounds.   Is the +5 TTI pad good-to-go in Carry Optics (is not longer than 140mm), OR do I need to get the +2 pad to stay CO legal for magazine length?

Same question for Carry Optics. Is the +5 TTI base pad legal for Carry Optics to keep the magazine under 140mm OR do I need to stick with +2 base pads? (assuming I am using SIG factory 17 round mags).

If you got the 21 rounders then get the tti+2 if you have the 17 rounder then get the +5

    Greetings gang!

So I love me some hard chroming.  Like a lot, primarily because It's easy to clean.  I'm thinking about having tech plate in Anaheim CA do it as they do incredible work.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody else has done this which makes me think THAT it isn't a good idea for whatever reason.  What do you guys think?

One last question... The OEM recoil spring is much longer in comparison to the springs in my 5" 2011. I've read here that a lot of people use a 12# spring but didn't specify if it was a spring from Sig or a spring from Grams.  For the purposes of shooting carry optics and making minor pf, which spring do you guys use?

    Thanks,

    Kg

Government spring for 1911 style is what you can run assuming you are not running the captured x5 spring combo. I ordered a 11# 12# and 13# since the springs are cheap in order to test some out. I stuck with the 12#.

  4. If you are going to shoot CO then you can't have ghost holster or any race holster, it works fine for limited or open, I have a ghost ultimate and it works great aside from the lock lever not being to intuitive to re-lock or unlock on the go. I have since purchased a double alpha with an insert and i feel much better knowing i can quickly lock the gun in, or unlock with flick of a lever in during the draw if i need to in 3 gun. That being said I will also be purchasing a RHT or something kydex for a dedicated 3gun setup to avoid scuffing up the gun during some stages. If your plan is to only shoot uspsa and you'll always be able to calmly use the turn lock lever then its just fine.

Once this has been around for a bit it's going to be interesting to hear the pros/cons of this versus the Legion frame.

Stippling a Legion frame is time consuming and expensive from what I've heard. I got mine with carbide, however if these interchangeable panels can offer grip like 2011 evo grip then that's a very good thing,.

I have a M9A3 and thought it would be cool to put a comp and red dot on it for fun. Question is who makes a good screw on comp for my threaded barrel and where can I find a rail mount red dot mount like the new Beretta Open gun?

This is the only thing I found https://zahal.org/product/fab-defense-beretta-92-aluminium-picatinny-rail-scope-mount-system/, might be better to wait till the 92x open comes out and see if you can just get that. Or maybe you  an get this part machined to whatever pattern yol be using.

Where is the 40 cal conversion kit for the X5 Legion?

There is none. You'd have to buy a full size 40. Cal p320 complete upper and you can just mount it on the x5 frame. It will be a slightly shorter barrel and stock slide however, no lightening cuts.

I didn't care for the Springer base pads due to the way they secure with a set screw. Not as secure as other styles and requires a tool to take apart

    I second this statement.

It's claimed to come with a tung plug and is going to weight 2 oz more.  But, my first thought was lighter too.

We can just put a tungsten plug in the legion  instead of buying a whole new frame💁‍♂️

Regarding the first issue with the lip of the shell getting hung up, it's kind of hard to tell if it's "file down more" issue or a "practice more" issue without actually looking at it.

On the other hand, I have run into issues with excessive resistance in the last little bit of motion into the tube. The shell catch is basically an articulating tab at the end of the larger bolt carrier latch, and is connected to the bolt release button. At one point, I installed an enlarged bolt release button with a small rubber o-ring to keep it in place, and it turned out that this would interfere with the pivoting of the carrier latch and would keep the shell catch from moving freely. I could still get shells into the tube, but it was MUCH more difficult than usual. Removing that o-ring fixed the issue - you might want to make sure that the whole assembly is moving freely (i.e., that you can push the big carrier latch arm all the way into the groove in the receiver; and once the whole carrier latch is at the end of its range of travel, that the shell catch pivots freely as well).

MOA Precision sells a tuned and polished version of the shell catch (or "carrier latch extractor", as the owner's manual calls it) that might help; I've used them, and while I didn't find that they caused a dramatic improvement, the fit and finish on your particular gun might be a little rougher, and you might notice a bigger difference. The low-drag follower will also help some, but I wouldn't expect dramatic results from that, either.

Yea i checked today and its out of stock as far as the polished shell catch. I was able to bent just the tip of the TTI lifter gate and it made a WORLD of difference, i was able to quad load, so now i can practice. Unfortunately while shooting a match Sunday, my bolt release tab screw came loose and has been lost. I salvaged the tab, I called stoeger and while they are willing to send a new one they are on back order. Anyone  know the thread and pitch of this bolt? I can't find that info anywhere and the only place Ive seen sells it by itself is midwest and with shipping and all its roughly 15 bucks mostly shipping. If i can go somewhere local and pick one up for a a buck or two id prefer it.

    Manual safety’s not cool 😬

I didn't catch that! So if the metal frame has the cut out for the safety and my current FCU doesn't have a safety will there be a missing slot or some compatibility issues if i just bought a frame? Thinking about it i wouldn't mind if there was a safety as long as i can get it extended like my TSO that way both guns will have a safety rest and a thumb rest as well.

    Hi All,

I've had this issue with both my standard X-Five and Legion X-Five. My standard X-Five ejector finally snapped off after bending it back down several times. Sent it back to Sig and they had to replace the entire serialized FCU as the ejector is part of the frame.  Sig's advice was to not do slide lock reloads and do mag insertions "less aggressively" and only load 20 rounds so the top round would give when coming into contact with the ejector during insertion.  They said mine was an isolated incident. This was about 10-12 months ago.

Got my Legion X-Five about 3-4 months ago and during my first match using it accidentally started a stage with a half full mag (yeah I know) and went to slide lock. Did a slide lock reload and the ejector up bent up and caused the slide not to go into battery.  Got through the stage and bent it back down and finished the match.  This happened day one with this gun.  Was not happy.

Ever since I've been overly careful only loading 20 rounds in mags when I'm training and avoiding slide lock reloads.  Well yesterday shooting a steel match I tried to get through a stage without a reload and went to slide lock on the last shot. Did a slide lock reload and finished. Next stage after a planned reload, had a malfunction failure to eject. Cleared it quickly but when I did so could feel the slide catching.  After the stage took the slide off and the ejector was gone.  It had broken completely off.

Now I have to send this one back and get a new serialized FCU again. Sig claims this is not a widespread issue but it definitely is an issue. I have a buddy with a Legion X-Five who shoots competitions and he has had to bend his back several times and sooner or later his will break off. When he called Sig they said he had to pay shipping to send it in and they would bend it back but if it breaks and the entire FCU needs to be replaced he would have to pay.  If they tell me that this time, not going to be happy.

My mentor knows of 3 other people with variations of p320's that its happened to as well.  It's easy to say "don't do slide lock reloads" but the reality is if you shoot enough matches you're going to occasionally do a slide lock reload and a gun designed for competition should be able to withstand an occasional mag insertion from slide lock without breaking. We'll see how Sig handles it this time.  Stay tuned.

From what i understand the stock magazines base pads wont allow the magazine to be over inserted, when swapping out base pads though you can over insert and bend the ejector. It happened to me once when i was of course at slide lock and slammed one home, I have Springer base pads btw. Since then  slide locked or not i just insert them without a lot of force , it doesn't take much and they always seat for me. 21,22, or even 23 rounds. I guess what im saying is slamming them hard when the slide is locked and using after market magazine pads you will bend it. And from Sig's perspective if you decide to run aftermarket parts they shouldn't be held liable. This is my own personal experience of course.

I'm with you.  Striker guns will never have a trigger like a hammer hook and sear system.  However, I am pretty sure the reset can be improved with the right components as evidenced by watching some videos.

I just want to understand thoroughly before I spend $100.  Looks to me like the AC trigger is a good bet and perhaps the Apex trigger bar.

AC triggers are unicorns @ the moment unfortunately.

I just have had the regular GG trigger kit in it, not the new one and have been happy. If you can find a better combo keep me posted i wouldn't mind being happier !

I remember they were selling the Legion on the concept that it flexes as a polymer gun but is heavy like steel. The best of both worlds. (Subliminal message:  better than those outdated steel guns) Now metal is better. There is so much to learn in this sport.🤔

I think if were going based on weight then this cant be MUCH different in terms of recoil felt from a TXG grip, that being said this looks grippier stock then the TXG.  In additon it would allow the metal to be drilled and an frame mounted optic to be placed, throw an optic on it and a comp and your in open. I wonder if the BARSTO barrel can handle 9mm major or if any companies have this idea in mind as well. It would be cool to throw some extra parts and have a gun that do limited minor, CO and open with a swap of a frame/ slide keeping the same trigger and ergonomics throughout all three divisions. .

Hello all, I've searched a lot and read a lot, but still can't put it all together. I've come into a legion with the GG trigger. Not sure which springs were used and it has not adjustable trigger.

Weight is fine. Reset is horrid. I am confused how to address that issue. Will a Keres or Armory craft do the trick?  Is one better than the other?  It appears maybe one or both will add some weight to the pull?  Is there another approach people are using?

Are you comparing the reset to another gun? its hard to say what the issue is you are having it may be normal. For example the reset on my x-5 is horrid when compared to my CZ TSO. Striker fired guns in my experience haven't come close to a hammer fired race guns in terms of triggers.

As I understand it Sig sends (3) 17 round magazines with the P320 X5 Legion. Do I need the Grams guts PLUS the basepads from either TTI or Springer to get to 23 rounds? How many rounds can you get in the factory Sig mags with just the basepads? How many rounds with just the Grams kit?

Sorry, newbie here regarding CO. Been shooting Single Stack since before it was a separate division and thinking about a move......

The grams will allow 1 more round. so 18 with just the kit, or 23 with kit and pads. I have the 21 rounders with springer and grams. At first the 23rd round was not re loadable until they set in. I usually just load 22 so they are easy enough to reload and I don't need to be forcefull, besides 1 more round won't make a huge difference IMO count the shots and better stage planning. I do wish i had bought the TTI pads because the springer uses a wonky 0.5mm hex and its easy to strip.
