  1. Time flies ... the Belgian 2023 IPSC Competition season is officially over. I want to take a brief moment to thank the BPSA, all Belgian IPSC clubs, their RO's, their helpers and all Belgian IPSC Competitors for again organizing and participating in an exciting competition season during 2023! The IPSC competition was very intense, but always respectful and fair, over all divisions, to include in Open Division. I would like to congratulate all division and category winners for their 2023 achievements. Overall I am very pleased with my own results, but understand that I still need to learn, grow and evolve to step up my game! I wish all Belgian and international IPSC and USPSA Competitors, with special attention to my fellow SNPS and VDSZ Club Shooters, a Merry Christmas and a healthy, safe and successful 2024, as well as an excellent new competition season in 2024! Hope to see you soon ... DVC

  2. In 2023 Fros Dynamic Shooting (FDS) restarted the Low Velocity Rifle (LVR) Championship in different divisions. I shot my "Bul Armory BL-9 PCC" in the LVR "Limited Division" (=mags limited to 10-rounds). Today FDS announced the 2023 Championship results and to my great surprise I made 2nd place! Congrats to the division's winner: K VD. Well deserved! Nice end of the LVR season. Next season I'll switch to LVR "Open Division" (= big stick mags). Thanks again to FDS, all Belgian LVR Clubs and competitors. Looking forward to another great season in 2024!

  3. Today Fros Dynamic Shooting (FDS) organised the end of season 2023 Low Velocity Rifle (LVR) Shoot-Off Match. Last time I held and shot my LVR/PCC was in September 2023. Just wanted to have some fun today, but won 2nd place overall 😉 Congratz to the winner and 3rd place holder and also a big thanks to FROS, SKW, all RO's and helpers, as well as all Belgian LVR Clubs and competitors for a great season!!! Looking forward to 2024!

  4. I have R3XL's on my 3 open guns and 1 spare ;-), yet overall I think they are very good (relatively low profile, big window with relatively small frame and a crisp dot that can be intensified through the buttons on the side, depending on lighting circumstances, easy to replace the 2032 battery (which lasts relatively long)). But ... I also confirm that all 3 have broken down (2 issues: one of the buttons stopped working and/or the dot started flickering uncontrolled (even with a new battery in it) and were indeed all replaced quickly under the SIg warranty. That might sound bad, but honestly, in the clubs I'm shooting the OD and POD shooters have many different red dots, and all of them have had issues at one point or another ... not always supported by the great Sig warranty ... So, I plan to stick with the R3XL's ;-)

I also take precautions, especially since I have a very young boy in the house.

I prefer shooting in outdoor ranges rather than indoor

I have clothes and shoes specifically for shooting only.

The shoes don't come into the house, I also wash my shooting clothes separately and store them inside their own plastic bag once washed.

All shooting equipment, such as holsters, belts etc have their own container, I also have a specific table (small folding one) for gun cleaning/maintenance tasks.

Though I am not that worried about this for anyone at least 10 years old (a lot of shooters do die old) it is a good thing to be aware and take reasonable precautions.

    Agree, taking precautions never hurts!

  6. I'm a firm believer in Steve Anderson's mantra, i.e. avoid at all costs any and all negative thoughts, to include about DQ's! Also agree with Sarge, i.e. know, understand and be able to apply the rules ... and when in doubt, do approach and ask a RO in advance. Any equipment, be it gun, mags, belt, holster, pouches, etc. will not make you win a stage or match, but qualitative and safe equipment/gear significantly removes any unnecessary hastles and - safety - concerns, so you can focus on your performance!

  7. Bul uses different dimensions and angles in their guns. A fellow shooters tried to fit a Bul grip onto his SPS race gun. It's not a drop in part. After gunsmithing a whole bit he did manage a fit, but the gun regularly has issues and is not reliable. So, I do not recommend it. Why would you fit a Bul part on another 2011 brand of gun, if there are a lot of other producers making very good 2011 parts that will fit with just very minor gunsmithing?

  8. As I understand the IPSC rules, in IPSC the magnet is considered equal to an actual mag pouch and therefore also needs to be behind the hipbone in production, production optics, standard and classic divisions, regardless of using it or not. Even more, if you structually use the magnet with a mag on it, not only the magnet, but the magnet with the mag on it needs to be behind the hipbone. If it's sticking out and it's detected by the match officials you'll be bumped to open division 🙂 I strongly recommend a magnet, also in these divisions, but make sure it's compliant and behind the hipbone.

  9. Hi there, when I started my journey into practical shooting I really wanted to shoot in open division. Contrary to many other competitors who advised against it by stating I should first start and gain experience in production or production (carry) optics, I just "followed my heart" ... and immediately started in open division, as a matter of fact in open major 🙂 Very glad I didn't follow the otherwise well meant advice. If you want to put in the budgets, time and resources, go shoot in open division!
