I would take two seconds every single time. OL is one of those stages that really sets the GMs apart. The really fast guys dip into the 2s with the movement.

Yes, for normal loads. If you shoot your typical Production load in a 16" PCC barrel you gain between 100 and 200 fps, depending on the powder used. Here is one example. One of my shooting buddy's Production load makes 132 PF over the chrono. Out of his 16" PCC it makes 155 PF. That's almost 200 fps faster.
The faster the powder, the less velocity gain. Some mouse fart pistol loads are actually slower out of a 16" barrel, because there is not enough gas generated to accelerate the bullet all the way down the barrel. So it is actually slowing down before it exits.
My PCC weighs 5 lb. 7.5 oz. unloaded. Set up as it currently is there is virtually no dot bounce with a 147 gr @ 985 fps load (144 PF). I literally can hit the same spot at 50 yards as fast as I can pull the trigger. I definitely feel the recoil, but it is straight back. BTW, the gun is short stroked by 3/4".
It is generally accepted that you need between 135 and 145 PF to minimize dot bounce, assuming you have everything set up correctly. For me that was 144. That load is great for falling steel matches, especially the fall forward poppers. It is not ideal for steel challenge. I'm experimenting with lighter loads to see if I can get reduced recoil and still no appreciable dot bounce. I just tried a 147 over 2.8gr e3. It was super soft with minimal dot bounce, but it stove piped. I'll try a little more powder and see if that works. If not I'll have to take the 3 oz. weight out of the bolt for the light load. I'd rather not, because I might forget to put it back in for the falling steel matches. That would be a disaster for recoil and dot bounce.
If it helps on your search for a powder puff load with minimal bounce, I have found that around 105PF I can get it settled down pretty well.

I wonder if he is sponsored by C-more?
Phil
I am sure he is. I was pointing out that there wasn't an issue with his performance using a railway.

For what it's worth, the number one Steel Challenge PCC shooter right now shoots a C-More Railway.

I ran my Switchbolt this weeked for the first time in a match. I love it. The rifle handles perfectly, and is very accurate, even with the sporter chamber.
-
My 9 year old is shooting his first match this weekend. We have worked pretty hard on the commands and safe handling.

I think you will find that a larger MOA dot will help in SC. The C-More is the most common sight I see in SC on PCC.

Lesson 2 learned. Make sure your gun likes the ammo you plan to feed it. My Beretta could eat blazer all day. My CZ regurgitate it all match. It ran S&B perfect, but I ran it all during break in. I spent 8 stages learning how to clear failures. Its probably good my first match didn't go smoothly.
I see this quite a bit when folks jump into reloading their match ammo without much reloading experience. I watched a friend who is an M class shooter struggle last weekend because they didn't fully understand OAL and how it can throw the brakes on everything when it is wrong.

Taran Tactical Innovations comes to mind. About an hour from Hollywood.
Last I knew he wasn't offering training to the non-Hollywood types anymore.

Have any of you guys had problems with keyholing using the Wiland LLW barrel? I got mine the other day and it functioned perfectly with CCI AR Tactical 40gr CPRN 1200 FPS, but consistently keyholed when I switched to CCI Blazer LRN 1235 FPS. Kind of sucks since I have 6k rds of Blazer that I reserved for my RFRO practice ammo.
I have shot a little bit of Blazer in mine with no issues. Were you by chance using hollow points?

I agree with Stick with some minor exceptions. I generally shoot left to right with PCC except for Speed Option, and I shoot it right to left. With a pistol, I shoot Speed Option starting with plate 3 instead of the far right number 4. Getting a fast first hit helps me. So, the simple answer is I mostly shoot it the same. The sequence part is where the great Ford versus Chevrolet debate will come up.

The F-class guys I know would beg to differ.
All the skilled PRS guys I know have given up on SH. The only top level competitors that seem to be still active are the ones that have to rep sponsors.
The benchrest guys may even top the F-Class guys.

Hunters HD would be a good option for you. The lenses are awesome, customer service is top notch, and Brian supports the shooting sports at an incredible level, particularly our junior shooters.

Maybe take a look at the Tandemkross Hivebrid grips? They are G10 and rubber hybrid grips without the finger grooves that the Hive grips have.

Some of the issues with a non-PCC trigger in a PCC can involve the shape and size of the hammer. It can apparently cause issues. I have personally stuck to running triggers designed for a PCC in mine. Could you possibly swap your trigger into a standard AR and see if you still have problems?
-
Tandemkross has the Williams Firesights.

The latest generation of PSA PCCs have been pretty good. The barrels have a PCC chamber that is pretty generous in terms of OAL if you reload, and they are plenty accurate. I have one with around 7000 troble free rounds through it. I suggest you replace the trigger with a CMC PCC trigger. This will keep you well under your budget.

@xpierrat Awesome Job ! Question: what is the second grip mounted on left of receiver ? I can't imagine this is for steel challenge ?
I believe that is just an extended charging handle on a Gibbz side charger.

From the product to the company, it doesn't get any better. Brian gives back to the shooting community at a very high rate, and the lenses are awesome. I would be willing to bet that anyone you find wearing them at a match would let you try them out. You won't go wrong with them.

You might try loosening the bolt that holds the shell plate in place just a little bit. It doesn't take much to have it too tight. That can cause all kinds of problems.
-
Are you saying the primer ring is not lining up with the shell plate, or something different?

I have two on the way with the sporter chamber. In SC, our hardest shots accuracy wise are the 10 inch plates on Pendulum, so I need reliability more than the best accuracy. The best shooter out there can get zapped in a match if their rifle doesn't run right.
Help quieting PCC bolt/buffer noise

The SCS with tungsten weights is very soft and quiet. I know some folks have a preference for the Blitzkrieg, but I honestly think my heavy SCS is flatter. Also, the heavier weight of the buffer will help offset removing the bolt weight.
