I totally understand. I haven't moved my little boy to Hunters yet. I will eventually get him a pair if he sticks with shooting.
-
I know it is a little pricey, but have you looked at Hunters HD Gold? There are several styles, and some are adjustable. They probably have something that would be exactly what you are needing.

GT targets are outstanding. We replaced the old targets at my club with them and everyone loves them. These targets ring. They are also very supportive in sponsoring the sport.

We used to buy this stuff to shoot out of MP5s. It is warm for sure. I ran across an ammo can full of it in my garage the other day. It is definitely not something to feed a polymer frame gun.
-
I would also check with ypur bullet manufacturer to see what the reliable expansion velocity is for the bullet you plan to load. Some bullets are sensitive to velocity as they expand.
-
Another thing that helps me when going to the first plate is to be sure you move in a straight line from the low ready to the first plate. I know this sounds simple, but if you watch some shooters you will notice they make an arc type move to the target which is slower. We are in a game where cutting a couple hundredths of a second on each string adds up. Making that first shot fast really helps.

56SS0916 will get you 5% off if you buy direct.

Take a look at Tandemkross. They have a number of accessories for the 22/45.

If someone were able to shoot 380 in steel challenge there would be a tongue lashing of the century from all the reloaders who shoot 9mm and collect brass. Dont do it!
Oh, we do love some 380 brass.

I have had very good luck with Berry's plated and Sport Pistol in my PCC. I have some Blue Bullets that I have used in handguns, but not tried in my PCC yet.
-
Take a look at Tactical Solutions. They make some holsters for MKIVs with optics.
-
I made a post earlier about the POF trigger. It is still running strong after thousands of rounds. I just built another rifle and tried the CMC PCC trigger. It runs great, and even though it is advertised as 3.5 pounds mine breaks under 3 pounds. Now I will see how it works long term.

As mentioned above, I think a peel washer is what you need to time the comp where you want it timed to.
-
You could check the Altamont stock. I am not sure of the dimensions on it, but Kurt Grimes has made some posts about them lately.

If you have the tungsten weights it could be that the buffer is too heavy, but it could also be the spring. I run Steel Challenge loads with the factory SCS short stroke setup and they are only around 100PF. Shooters Connection might be able to help with parts as well.
-
Is your SCS the short stroke version? Also, the SCS can be tuned by changing out the combinations of steel and tungsten weights. Brownells sells JP components if you need to change things around.

I saw some issues with the 124 Syntech this weekend. There were a couple of rounds that seemed just over squib level. This was a top level shooter who was giving the ammo a try as part of a sponsorship deal. There is another thread on here discussing some other shooters having issues with the Syntech as well.

Where did you get that purple expansion piece?
It looks pretty handy.
That is a base pad that Kurt Grimes makes. If you are on Facebook you can contact him through his page.

I have had good luck with the POF drop in trigger. It has a positive reset, and shows no signs of letting up after more than 5000 rounds. I will say that I am going to be tempted to try the new Hiperfire drop in trigger for PCC that should be available soon.

I got our club setup as a steel challenge club and we are ordering the gear necessary (its expensive but should last a long time).
For an introductory class what all do you cover besides USPSA safety and rules? Do you do classroom time and range time? I am not a teacher nor overly comfortable being the center of attention but could figure something out if that's what it takes. I'm sure I can get other seasoned shooters to help out.
Im friends with most of the local gun shops as they shoot my matches. I asked one and they were willing to let me put up flyers. We have a facebook group with 500 or so members and a public facebook page for the club. Have not setup an IG for the club but that's easy enough. I guess I never considered the cost of a match fee to be any sort of deterrent but we could definitely do free for new shooters, would have to figure out how to set that up in practiscore. I like the idea of giving the person that brings a new shooter a free slot too.
My club is going to do an intro to Steel Challenge to work on attracting new shooters. My plans are to cover the basic safety rules and then have the participants shoot some stages. For the shooting portion I plan to have some of the easier stages set up like smoke and hope, roundabout, etc. I don't want to scare them off with outer limits type stages. The match following the intro day will be free for all shooters. We are also doing some things like discounted ammo with a paid entry. Time will tell how this impacts our attendance.

I think that letting a shooter shoot back to back gives them an unfair advantage. They get a practice run and then get to do it for real with their other gun.
This is along my line of thinking too, particularly if you are shooting two similar rifles like RFRO and PCCO back to back.

I put a baricade stop on mine and it give me a reference point to hold. It also allows me to pull the rifle into my shoulder.

While it certainly would not be the least expensive route, I would consider contacting Brian at Hunter's HD Gold and ask his opinion on this. I believe he would give you solid information and recommendations. The fact that they are a grinding lab may also offer you some non-traditional options.
Best shoe specifically for gravel?

I have been very happy with my Salomon Speedcross. Our range has a good bit of loose gravel and they work well.
