  1. This is from Vairog in Latvia. Latvia has a new cartridge manufacturer which is named “VAIROG”. They have a registered business in the US too.

There will be letters in the shield logo. If made in the USA will have VUS. If Made in Latvia will have VEU (EU for Europe)

Enquiring minds want to know what you've found useful.  Are you keeping those secret or just like making snarky remarks while bragging about your harem of presses?

    😇

Ok fair enough, you got me.

The ones I kept are the clamped Whidden toolheads (with floating dies for rifle calibers), the live primer shut off (for the 650), live primer catcher (650), case feeder shut off (650), and roller handles. And I like the Uniquetek micrometers for the powder measures.

  3. Started out with a Hornady single stage kit back in the early 90's.

    Next a RL550 in the late 90's followed by a XL650.

At the moment I have set up:

    Mark 7 Evolution (.223R)

    2x XL650 (9mm and .308/6BR)

    Harrells BR turret press

    In reserve:

    another XL650

    3x RL550

    1x RL450

    2x Corbin CSP-1

    1x Harrell's BR single stage

    1x Hornady singel stage

    1x BCM Modulo Masterpiece

You cannot beat roll sizer with ANY dies.

My experience is that Mighty Armory decapping and swage backup dies are excellent. Sizing die is accurate, but too soft material -- I scratched mine very fast. Now I'm using Redding titanium sizing die.

    +1

    I'm back to the U-die in 9mm.

I bought it and have prepped around 3000 brass with it (maybe 2000 crimped ones). Had some difficulties at first trying to get it centered but then gave up and just went with it. Im only just starting the reload phase so cannot yet comment about how good job it does. By the looks of decrimped brass, I am a little worried there might be issues when priming.

    Hi Slowmisses,

Do you have any pics of the results?

    Thanks!

  6. Can't make it out properly but those look more like copper shavings from the bullet jackets.

If so, you are (1) trying to seat the bullet deeper while the case mouth is already being crimped (if you re using a seater die that also performs a crimp function). Or (2) you are trying to seat the bullet while the case mouth is not flared (enough), thus shaving off copper from the base of the bullets.

  7. In my case it provides the possibility to add a trimmer to the process so I should be able load 223 in one pass.

.............Only problem is that Mark 7 cannot deliver the trimmers yet! The delay is way, way too long. I like the product but the delays and unresponsiveness I've experienced so far are a real problem.

(And the Dillon trimmer is too wide, otherwise I would have gone down that road long ago)

Well it’s been 7 days since last Friday when it was supposedly shipped. No response to any emails. Not what I was expecting after all the great reviews I’ve read and even after speaking with Wayne. I’ll give it till Monday if no response I’ll ask for my refund.

You should be able to see if it is shipped on your account's ''order history''.

Are you still waiting on the replacement die. I ordered the 40 sw die Monday after Wayne said it was back in stock and I am still waiting for it to be shipped. He must be like lee at uniquetek they take forever to ship after getting paid and you have to bug them to get your stuff. I’ll see but it’s not a good first impression for a company.

The die is shipped but because I'm in the Netherlands it will take at least a week.

There were some delays with the initial orders I placed but nothing shocking. A few weeks at most. Nothing like Mark7 delays.....

I think Wayne is extremely busy at the moment.

What do you mean MA die was a lemon. I am getting ready to get a 40 cal die from them. Is there an issue with his dies.

    Hi Dirtchecy841,

The 9mm sizer I recieved was badly scratched on the inside. I sent it back and Wayne determined the hardening wasn't done properly. I'm now waiting for a replacement.

(Fwiw, I also have a MA .223 sizer which is fine.)

  11. Wellll, the forum/community wasn't really alive before so who will spot the difference anyway? (kidding!)

    Could be (scheduled) maintenance.

According to Misty who helped me, the webcare team is expanding and should be up to speed this summer. So we should see increasing activity instead of less. But anyway, live chat is a step in the right direction!

    Time will tell.

Yes I just checked the platform screws, super tight. I used the alignment tool not long ago and I tightened those screws really hard.

On the left is the used pawl and spring, and brand new ones on the right. I cannot see anything different

    Hi Dazhi,

Those springs look correct. I attached a pic showing the springs from my 650's.

I think I had it wrong suspecting the index pawl and spring. I played a little more trying to recreate your issue and that happens when I loosen the shell plate too much. The reset click gets louder and the case wants to jump out of the shell plate when de index pawl resets.

Writing my first reply I assumed you must have checked the shell plate a zillion times by now? Being one of the usual suspects.
