Rifle guide rod for anyone interested.
Thanks Thetimb!

Do you think it would also apply to bottle neck pistol case? I have 9X25 Dillon and 40 Super (no dies yet for the 40 Super).
Ps. This info is good to know. I will use the Hornady powder measure to reload 9X25 Dillon and also for the 40 Super if I decide to reload it.
I had forgot about those two cartridges. Getting old.
Thanks, Norm
I really don't know Norm, I can only report on my .223 powder funnel.

Gents,
On the guide rods, these are the second and third rod accoring to MK7. When my 223 Evo was manufactured this option (the 2nd rod) was not available yet hence it was not included with my press. I might order one later but to be honest, I don't feel I really need one. If I get one it will be because it just looks darn cool!

So... is this a 223/556 issue in particular? Or would it apply to other as well? 9mm would be my primary concern...
Hi DDC,
I think this potential issue is restricted to bottle neck cases.

RGA, I was having this trouble as well. Mainly when I had lube on the brass. The problem went away with very clean brass, which would preclude a one pass sizing loading for 223. I would imagine that redesigning that one metal part would be fairly simple for Mark 7 to do.
Hi Jake,
The main reason I got this press is to be able to do a one pass reloading cycle... I'm waiting for the trimmer kit to become available, as it would also trim off any case lube left on the case mouth. I hope that will help. Otherwise I will just continue to use my Dillon powder measures for ball powders. To be honest, I really don't care which powder measure is on the toolhead. As long as it doesn't give me a headache. I'm not planning to automate my Evo anyway...
Btw, you have a Lock 'n Load right? Does that powder funnel fit the MK7 powder measure?

Are you sure you had the powder measure set up right? At least I haven't noticed any spillage and I'm loading quite full cases of 9mm major.Hi Mika,
I have a .223 Evo. The ''issue'' is that the neck cut out in the powder funnel is too long. This causes a small amount of powder to fall on to the case mouth. Some kernels will then stick to the case mouth and/or fall of when the case is retracted from the funnel. The kernels will fall on to the shell plate slowly making a mess. I had to disassemble and clean the press a few times due to this. This is with ball powder, I have not tried extruded powders yet.
The Dillon powder funnel does not do this (it actuates on the case mouth and not the case shoulder, there is no gap where powder kernels can come to rest on the case mouth). I will continue to use my Dillon powder measure with ball powders as it works better.
In the picture you can compare the Dillon powder funnel (on the left) to the MK7 powder funnel. You can see the MK7 one is cut deeper.

Fwiw, I paid just over 3000 Euro's for mine.
-
....After some frustrations with the powder measure (funnel/powder spillage mostly) I installed one of my Dillons with double return springs and it works fine. This is the same way I run them on my Dillon presses, double return springs and without the rod. Been doing that for decades.

Excellent post Jake! When time permits I'll do some experimenting to see if I can induce some 'flex' in my .223 Evo.

Hi,
My name is Roel and I live in the Netherlands. Been shooting since 1986 and started reloading in 1993. Shot several disciplines over the years and at the moment my main focus is high power rifle shooting.
I've been lurking here for years (mostly on the reloading boards) but decided to join because of the Mark 7 Evolution thread. Really enjoy this forum and the people posting!
Thanks!

Concerning the guide rods, I also posted this question on the MK7 community forum for a definitive answer.

I have the same question as Thetimb, I'm trying to figure out whether my Evo in .223 has the second guide rod installed but am not sure which one it is..... Is it the one with the spring, bolted on to the toolhead?
The manual isn't clear either...

Can't spot a visual difference from mine either.

Hi Tan40,
Did you encounter any case feeder issues like I did with .223?
Kind rgds,
RGA
-
Solved the case feeder issue in the mean time by making a tighter funnel.
-
Update: MK 7 responded pretty quickly after I posted here and acknowledged and apologized for the minor damage. That's good enough for me and all I wanted.
Still have a problem with the casefeeder (.223) which is being reviewed. The press itself however, is great and runs like a dream. Very smooth, and capable of producing matchgrade .223 ammo (using ball powder H335). It sizes straight and seats the bullets straight (Forster FL sizer and Redding comp seater)!
I have no complaints about the working of the powder measure but still have to see how it will do with stick powder like N135, N540 and Varget. It is very accurate with ball powder H335 but that is no surprise. Most measure are with ball powders.

I can live with the slight damage but the lack of response/acknowledgement is what's most annoying to me. I know they're overwhelmed but it has been a week now. Same thing with the MK 7 community. When you post something it needs to be approved by a moderator. Fair enough, but it took them 6 days to approve a post. I'm not really impressed.... I just posted another question about a case feeder issue. Let's see how long it will take to get an answer.

..... you still need to fill those extra tubes first ......
-
Hi Le Cool,
Got it through Double Alpha.

-
I have a 9mm version on one of my 650 toolheads too. It works well but it does not save me any time. Filling the tubes first or placing the bullets manually, it doesn't matter much timewise. I actually prefer doing it by hand because I find filling the tubes kind of annoying. If you want a bullet feeder which save you time, go for the normal MBF.

Just a couple notes/issues I had when installing. I had to double up the washers on the pole connector piece. Using the single washers depicted in the instructions had way too much wobble and slack.
Same here, the pole connector screws included were too long.

Gents,
As the Mark 7 trimmer is on back order at this time, do you think that the Dillon RT1500 will work on this press? Has anyone tried?
Thanks,

Hi Thetimb,
How was the powder measure modified to fix it?
Thanks!
