  1. This has been discussed in other threads a few times.

I have a manual Evo and the MK7/Bosch trimmer. I can do 1 pass .223 loading but my main issue is the trimmer's manifold which doesn't fit well between the neighboring dies. I have no issues with the powder measure getting in the way but do have to add that I run it in station 6. A Dillon powder measure by the way.

  2. Are they brass shavings or particles? New brass can have a somewhat rough surface and then brass particles can stick to the expander plug. A rough expander surface adds to this issue too.

This also happens when the brass is wet cleaned with pins (which can create a rough surface as well, also wet cleaning removes all carbon which acts as lube when expanding but that is a different topic).

(FWIW, I use a polished Lyman M-die expander and new Starline brass (45ACP)  but do not experience the issue you describe. For the record, I size them first with a std Dillon sizer, not a U die or anything like that).

  3. Just fwiw but I switched to the Lyman M-die on my 650's to load 9mm and .45acp. No sticking at all. I use LEE U dies and of course I polished the expanders.

Another suggestion for the experienced inaccuracy/unpredictability of the loaded ammunition is that some bullets are not seated straight. (Had that happen in the past after flaring too much in my case.)

  4. OK, but at least make sure to check headspace after you straightened them out and befor you fire them. That can get severly messed up and push you into the danger zone.

Even if you have 4000, there is no need to compromise safety.

Curious if anyone has experience with

FW ARMS™ AUTO-CASE CENTERING SWAGE STATION FOOT
    seems legit.

I have both the decapper and swage station foot (hold down die). Both work as advertized. And in the case of decapping or swaging .223 brass I prefer them over the MA's or any other brands because the case mouths don't get damaged. The sliding bushing garantuees the cases enter the die straight.

The FW dies however are very long but for me that has not turned out to be a problem (on the Mark 7 Evo or Dillon 650).

  6. Hi Baragasam,

I had to "customize" the manifold and still have to squeeze it in between the neighboring dies. The whole setup places pressure on the neighboring dies which I don't like. I think I'll go back to a seperate cycle for trimming.

I have a MA decapper on one side and a Lyman M-die on the other side.

    Stay safe,

@RGA Are you swaging and trimming on the same station? Or did you remove your swager?

    Hi Baragasam,

Yes, I'm swaging, sizing and trimming on the same station.

A few things need clarification I feel.

    1) My trimmer fits on the tool head as you can see in the picture. Installing the included (Dillon) manifold (which is not in the picture) is the biggest challenge because in its unaltered form it will not fit between the neighboring dies. I'm not sure how a lighter style trimmer is going to solve that issue.

    2) The trimmer comes with a Dillon trim die so it will size.

    3) I also have a Dillon trimmer and it will not fit on the MK7 tool head when there are neighboring dies because the body is too wide.

    Kind rgds and stay safe!

I was thinking of adapting a Harrell’s Powder Measure to a Dillon 1050.

If you know anyone who makes adapters for mounting a Harrell's to a Dillon 550/650/1050, please let me know!

Below a pic of my attempt to combine a Harrell's with a XL650 but it is still hand operated......

Got any pics on the butcher job? Seems like the thing will end up with a hole in the side if I want it to fit.

    Sure.

Also I placed the cutter bit low in the trimmer so I could place the whole trimmer higher on the trim die. And I still need to force/squeeze/hammer the manifold in between the neighboring dies. There is pressure on the dies on both sides which is far from ideal. I'm thinking of taking the trimmer off and going back to a seperate trim cycle on the 650.

This is not what I expected when MK7 sold me on the 1-pass-loading story.

115 HAPs are the most accurate and most consistent JHP bullets I've shot.

    I agree!

The 115 HAP and 115 XTP have been my favorite 9mm bullets since the early 90's. They never disappointed me no matter what pistol I used over the years. They have become my baseline bullets.
