  1. hello Maximis228,

I only trim .223 and .308 so I do not have that issue.

What you could try is to take off the connector piece of the router (outlined red) and then you can manipulate the height of the cutter itself. Maybe then you can place the trimmer lower on the die.

Yes, you can trim and load in 1 run if you want to.

I have a Lyman M-die in the priming station (4) which removes any burrs on the inside of the case mouths and the LEE factory crimp in the last station takes care of any remaining burrs on the outside of the case mouth.

it works but running the trimmer, the case feeder and the bullet feeder at the same time required ear protection. ;)

  3. What I like most about the FW's is the alignment of the cases before decapping or swaging. The MA decapper and hold down die have the tendency to nick the casemouths of my .223 cases (because the cases can wobble a little on the shellplate and then the decapping rod or swage rod clips the casemouth sometimes). The FW's don't do that because the case goes in straight.

Next experiment is decapping a berdan case.... :)

I know the MA pin bends but then again I don't think he advertizes that it will go straight through..... let's see what happens with the FW.

Edited to report my FW decapper has no trouble with 9mm berdan cases. It pierces clean through the case web. I tried 5 cases.

  4. Yep, I posted that Oct 14th 2019 in the original post. Guess the OP missed it...

This is from Vairog in Latvia. Latvia has a new cartridge manufacturer which is named “VAIROG”. They have a registered business in the US too.

There will be letters in the shield logo. If made in the USA will have VUS. If Made in Latvia will have VEU (EU for Europe)

  5. Thanks Hurley. I'm using the MA decapper and hold down dies and the latter sometimes nicks the case mouth of my .223 brass when using a progressive press like the Dillon 650 or the MK7 Evo. The cases can wobble a little in the shell plate.

I have the FW decapper and hold down/backer dies on order and am most cusious if the hold down/backer die will keep all my case mouths undamaged.

  6. There was already a thread on MA sizers. It is on page 4.

I have a 9mm and 223 sizer and retired them because they scratch my brass. The tension my 9mm die produces is fine when compared to other brands I have but the scratching drove me nuts. I can polish the die every few hundred cases but the scratches worsen as brass builds up inside the die. I can clearly follow this process with my borescope. I'll see if I can amuse you guys with some borescope pics when I have time.

Yes, I clean and lube my cases (with Dillon spray on lube or Imperial/Redding sizing wax).

In my humble opinion there is nothing special about these dies. I purchased them during the first half of 2019 so I can't comment on the current production but personally I lost interest. There are some bold claims made about these dies but I have not seen the real life evidence. But maybe I'm jinxed....

The decapping die (which was MA's first product I believe) on the other hand is excellent.

  7. I have good luck with the Forster FL dies. In .223 I use it in combination with a Redding comp seater.

The Forster FL dies gives me the lowest neck runout on sized brass of any FL dies I have. That includes the Dillon FL, Mighty Armory FL, Lee FL en RCBS FL.

So from that angle (neck runout) I prefer the Forster.

RGA - is your trim die a Dillon or something else? I've been looking into press mounted trimmers lately but haven't bought anything yet.

    Hi Yondering,

That is correct. The MK7 kit came with a Dillon trim die and Dillon exhaust manifold

  9. Hi Laxman,

MK7 delivered the trimmer (which is based on a Bosch router). It sits in station 3 on my manual Evo.

It gets very crowded on the toolhead. I had to 'modify/butcher the Dillon exhaust manifold to squeeze it in between the other dies. Also the toolhead is now so heavy that the main spring cannot keep it in the top (idle) position. It sinks about an inch.

The trimmer is a ***** to adjust but when that is done it will trim very well!

Pic is without the exhaust manifold

Size on a 40 year old rockchucker.

    Tumble clean primer pockets

Load the rest on the 550b, without the sizing die in.

    Like stated 10 years ago.

I can't shoot the difference out to 600meters.

now for me 10 years later I can't hold the groups I did ten years ago either but the ammo shoots as well, as when I single load each one.

    +1

I can not tell the difference at this distance between ammo loaded on my (tricked out) 550 or a Harrell's BR turret press & Harrell's powder measure & Sinclair primer seater. This is with the same die sets and quality components.

Only the hardest holders/best shooters with top of the line material will be able to tell the difference. Not the average shooter with a factory barrel.

My personal experience is that it is more efficient for your results to spend time behind the trigger and learning how to dope the wind @ 600 and beyond than wasting your time worrying about a 0.1 moa accuracy difference due to loading method.
