Looking to get a new carry gun and narrowed it down to the Dan Wesson ECO 9MM or STI Staccato C. Just wanted to see what you guys think that have shot or own either, I watched a review video about the STI Staccato C and they had a failure to go into battery and some failures to lock back on the last round but they don’t mention it but corrected it quickly and acted like it didn’t happen and then continued on like everything is fine so that had me concerned for a pistol of that price. Skip to 9:30 to see it not go into battery.

I checked them out also no luck.

I’ve never owned a DW but have my eye on the ECO for a carry gun.

After doing some looking around I cannot seem to find a right side release for my Colt 1911. When I call Mitchell he tells me call back in 2 weeks then I call back in 2 weeks and it’s the same story after a few calls so does anyone have one for sale or where can I find a right side release? Thanks

I have a Colt Competition .45 for SS and I would like to buy slim grip panels that are smooth so I can put grip tape on them. Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks

I have a Colt Competition.45 and has been 100% reliable so far with all kinds of ammo.

I have a Colt Competition .45 for SS using Winchester White box 230 grain ammo until I start reloading my question is what recoil spring to use at the moment? I have Wolff 11-15 lb conventional and 13-15 lb variable recoil springs. I just don’t want to beat up the gun using the wrong spring and also never used a variable spring before so I bought some to try out. Thanks for the help.

I still have the dual recoil springs in my Colt Competition but don’t have a clue what the weight of the dual recoil springs are, I have a tool-less guide rod that I would like to get some different recoil springs to try with my 170 pf loads. I’ve had some tell me stick with the conventional springs and some say the variable springs are the way to go. As far as the variable spring goes as far as I understand it it unlocks the slide quicker but with my gun wouldn’t I want it at full lockup as long as possible for best accuracy? This is my first single stack competition gun and need some help from you guys on this subject. Thanks

Its no custom but I bought a series 70 Colt Competition .45. I shot it some and recently upgraded the trigger to a short flat trigger and trigger job to 2.5 lbs, extended mag release, Wilson Combat larger safety, full length guide rod and Dawson Ice Magwell. It shoots great and has been 100% reliable so far with many different mags. Just wanted to show it off some and ask what belt, holster and mag pouches do you guys recommend?

My guns feel so much better to me when I grease them vs oil when I rack them ect. After a match the grease is still there and when I would oil them not so much. I use Slide Glide Lite and love it. I do put oil on the trigger components and grease on everything else.

I have been using Slide Glide for years now and never had a issue but I also live in Texas. What is your take on the no grease video?

I called Dawson today and they are sending me a no gap basepad to make sure it works before I order more. There customer service is second to none and will be doing most of my parts ordering through them.

Just installed a Dawson Ice magwell with the no gap insert onto my Colt Competition .45. I bought the competition ready Wilson ETM mag with Dawson basepad and the basepad hits the magwell insert. Should I just make some clearance with a file or sandpaper or should it fit without any modification?

Well guys my Colt Competition.45 just came in and I have to say I love it! I only shot 150 rounds at the range today but it ran like a sowing machine. Trigger is great for a factory gun, G10 grips really grip your hands, I will be putting some grip tape on the front strap since it’s smooth. It shot a lot better than I did and need some time getting use to it being a new platform for me.

Sorry this probably has been asked before but I just got my Colt Competition in that I will be using in Single Stack with a Dawson no gap Ice magwell. Iam about to order the Dawson no gap basepads but need to order mags as well. This is my first single stack gun so need some help from you guys. Thanks
