I put talons on my p320 last year (the grip tape ones). Honestly, for the $15 or whatever they cost, I felt like it was worth it because I hadn’t stipled anything before, and could have easily messed it up. (Even though a new grip module is only $40)

Shoot USPSA with the STI, we need more single stack shooters.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI second this. It really feels like single stack is dying. (Not sure if anyone else saw the Single Stack Classic was cancelled this year)

I think they do - Especially to get new shooters into the sport (generally dipping their toes into it with a $500 striker gun) That said, it seems like the CZ Shadows and Stock II’s of the world are becoming more and more popular.

Fore those of you using the Techwell . . . . . was any fitting/modification to the mag well required for proper fit to your pistol?
Mine is blended. I don’t know how necessary it was, but it works. I honestly prefer the Dawson ICE, having used both.

I am working together a cheap 3-gun rig to test the waters... If you do not find a junior, I would be a happy recipient.
It is yours if I don’t find a junior shooter in the next couple days. Stay in contact via PM.

I have an 8 round tac com shell caddy I’d be glad to send to a junior shooter. I no longer shoot 3 gun and have no use for it. Is mounted on a tek-lok.
edit: if no junior shooter claims it in a couple days I’d be glad to send it to someone who will actually use it.

Welcome! This is an excellent forum for all things shooting. Glad to have you!

I know running a good stage requires a lot of different things but being a fairly new shooter trying to break things down and focus on what is most important to having a successful stage my initial thought is STAGE PLANNNG is the most critical but would like insight
I’d tend to agree if we are talking about one single thing. But as noted above - Make it a point stick to whatever your plan is and execute it. Worst thing I do is occasionally go to “plan b” at the line. Throws everything off.

There is no such thing as common sense when it comes to guns. People do stupid things with them every day. We ALL learn gun safety one of two ways: Either someone (like my grandfather) drilled it into your head until you were terrified if you screwed up you were gonna get a heavy hand to the back of the head. Or you learned the hard way from doing something stupid.
That’s fair. Some people just don’t get it, and that’s fine, but they need to make a genuine attempt to get there.

Those that practice.
Fair. Guess I’ll have to get on that!

ENFJ.
Did we ever figure out which makes the best competitive shooters?
-
May be a dumb question, but you could do that with any number of airsoft or BB guns couldn’t you?
-
May be stupid, but I’d really like to have an old Belgium Browning Hi-Power in the brushed stainless (I think?). I missed out on one a couple years ago for a really decent price

We go to school (class) to learn. Not because we already know it all.
You’re not wrong, but there should be some common sense too, right?

I’ve been thinking about this recently. I started limited minor, and switched to SS. I don’t shoot the lim/production gun anymore. Had seriously considered selling, but I think I’ll hold onto it now..
-
I noticed my groups expand dramatically going from 15 yards to 25. I brought the target back in to 15 and worked my way out until I had consistent A zone hits with 5 shot groups. I know that’s not terribly specific I but I hope it helps.

I prefer fibers. I always seem to lose a black one, or standard dot for that matter. Fiber optics have been the only things that work well for me thus far.
-
It took me a while to get comfortable with it. Started with a brisk walk, lol. What made me “gun shy” was losing a few magazines one time. Having a quality belt helps with that.

Talons are solid, though kind of expensive for what you get. That said, you can get a whole sheet of skateboard grip tape for $5 or less and the adhesive is as good or better than talons.
-
Dot torture is pretty legit, but to do at a place that you can’t do anything from the holster, you’ll likely have to start at low ready.

Thanks for all the info. Jussssst starting to order some things to get started reloading.Ordered some precision delta long .40 and that worked extremely well, in case anyone was on the fence themselves! (Went through 1k)

How often do you guys find yourselves changing divisions? Do you decide what division you will shoot and stick with it for an entire year or longer?
The reason I ask is I have a nice production set up, limited set up, and now carry Optics set up that I enjoy shooting. I find myself at my monthly matches just kind of making the decision that morning which one I'm going to shoot. I know I will probably never get as good as I could be by jumping divisions every time out but I just am curious on your thoughts about it.
Production and carry Optics are the same platform with a Glock but my limited setup is a 2011 if that matters.
Started out limited minor to get my feet wet, saw how much fun the single stack savages were having and shot single stack all this year. No regrets! It has forced me to be a better shooter.

+1 for checking weight before ponying up. Would be interesting to see how that handles though. Haven’t had the chance to shoot a *ton* of quality single stacks myself.

I really dig 5.11’s range qualifier bag. It’s not the cheapest but it has everything you need and nothing you don’t.
pouch for 2 guns
room for ammunition, ear pro, basic tools you may need in a pinch, lube, etc.
6 magazine pouches that fit 2 single stack magazines per.

I have heard good things about MSR Sordin’s, by have no personal experience, and they are expensive. May be something for you to look into. For the price my Howard Leights have been ok. Nothing more or less.
