While I probably get that you all are joking, it is this condescending attitude and chauvinism that is driving women away. My wife got ME into the USPSA shooting game because of the great friends and good natured people that were involved. She and I are lucky to belong to a good club. We have visited other club matches and yikes, scary stuff. I was into the PRS long range game but didn't like some of the people involved. Too many sniper wannabes and strange bearded guys who never made the cut in the military. Just weird people.

I would recommend to the OP to find a good club with good people in it and this should attract her by realizing that it is a safe community to be around. It was funny but my wife commented how meeting people there is safe since we can rest assured no one is a felon/criminal. I would also recommend finding a club that has some women in it. This seemed critical for my wife to enjoy the sport. If it's just a bunch of guys acting like the above, then this might be causing her to shy away from the bigger sport of USPSA.

Thanks. We have an excellent club, and even a few women that have already mentioned I should bring her. Her main thing is the audience. I’ve just been working with her to help be more comfortable with the mechanics of shooting in general right now.

The answer I got was " because it's supposed to hurt".

Interesting you say that.  I had that same conversation with a couple RO's in Iowa, ironically at the same range the Iowa Sectional is at... They said the exact same thing. I get that it's supposed to hurt, but when it didn't give you a competitive advantage anyway, and was unintentional, why cant they just move you to limited?

  3. Valid question. My wife likes to shoot, and is generally a pretty decent shot.. But, she's terrified of shooting with an audience.  If it's just her and I, she does great, and enjoys herself.  If there's more than a couple people at a range, she won't shoot.  I got her to shoot indoor league (stationary targets, changing scenarios each week for 6 weeks), but I'd like to eventually get her to try USPSA at some point.  I considered taking her to a few steel challenge matches to get the feel for shooting on a timer.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm just making it a point to try not to push anything on her so she wont shoot at all.

Production here. I plan where my reloads are and know if I'm 1-1 on thing how many should be left in the gun at each point. Almost always it's 8-10 shots. Sometimes 6. So I do not consciously count them but try to have an awareness of how many I have to "play with" at each array.

And I can only arrive at a new array with 0 rounds, empty gun. 1 round, no mag but one chambered. 10 rounds, sllide lock reload or hopefully 11 with a successful speed reload. That's what I really care most about, am I arriving at the new place with the right amount.

Should things go off plan I don't hesitate to do an unplanned mag change to get me back on plan for the very next array.

Same here. (Except I shoot SS).  I've always found it easier to plan where my reloads are going to be and remember that during the walk through, rather than counting my way through it. I also make it a point to make a mental note if I know I have to clean something for the stage plan to work, and reload to get my barney back if necessary.

You might try some dish soap on the belt and see if the pouches will move then. Maybe heat the pouches with heat gun or hair dryer to make them give a little.

I wish that were the case, but they won’t even fit over the belt because it’s 1/8” thicker than the pouches 😕

Just curious if this is something anyone else has run into, or if I should just replace the belt.

  6. I’m considering getting my P320 slide milled for C/O. As I’m in the very beginning stages of research, I’ll ask:

    Ballpark cost

Is it worth having done, or should I just try to get ahold of an RX slide and do a DPP?

Recommendations of where to have it done

Am I stuck with one dot pattern or can it be done similar to glock’s MOS? (Forgive the dumb question, I really don’t know. Never had a dot on a pistol.)

What else do I need to know? Lay it on me!

    Thanks in advance 😀

Sights are a very personal thing.  I cant stand a busy rear sight I want plain black rear with a red fiber front.  Some people like all black front and back find what works for you and forget about it.

What he said. It comes down to personal preference and what works for you. I personally prefer a fiber optic front (green) and black rear. I started with 3 dot Novak’s and that was ok, but I had a tendency to lose the front sight occasionally.  The only sights I could never figure out how to like are the all black front and back. Just never worked for me..

  8. So,

I got ahold of some Safariland 771’s. Love the pouches, heard great things.. But... The clamp they are mounted with is  1 7/16”, while my * 1 1/2”* black scorpion belt is 1 9/16”. I can’t make them fit without notching the hell out of the belt. Do DAA/Safariland belts run more true to the 1 1/2” size they say they are? I’d really like to use the 771s rather than the blade techs I have been using for the last season.

I’ve had really good luck with the black scorpion for The last couple years until now.

    Thanks in advance.

At our monthly match about 10% are single stack shooters.  I shot SS for years then started shooting Production.  Been in Production for years and years.

I did look at the age of the SS folks and there is no one under 35 shooting it (at our club).  That may be sign!

I guess I’m just weird. I’m 26 and love it. If I go back to limited I’ll get a 2011 to stay on the 1911 platform.

Hmmmmmm given any thought to the challenge of Revolvers?

I have. And if we had *any* revo shooters in my area, I’d consider. But as mentioned above for SS shooters in his area, the numbers just aren’t here. There’s a decent amount of SS shooters in my area. Quite a few of them are much better than I am. I

A range in Colorado is reportedly trying to save the match; 2019 would have been the 25th anniversary of the contest.

Any idea which/where that is? I was really looking forward to that match and hope they do in fact save it.

Not just shutting down the match but the Society, it ran a long time with the same group though.

    R.I.P.

As for SS itself, probably a confluence of events.  Younger shooters don't have the history and love of the 1911, cost benefits lean towards other platforms, polymer frames are cheaper and can be accessorized pretty well.  Combine that with some newer Divisions such as CO's, which are gaining quickly, and PCC, which is taking off quicker than I thought, and you just see fewer shooters with 1911's.  I have several, yet don't seem to shoot them much anymore 🤧 will miss them 🤧.

It’s unfortunate! You could call me a younger shooter, but I enjoy the challenges presented by it. It literally forces you to be better.. Because if you miss once it can throw a whole stage plan.

  13. I was disappointed to see the Single Stack Classic was cancelled for 2019.  I didn't make it last year, and was pretty pumped to go this year. What are the chances another range saves that match?
With the growth of C/O and PCC, it seems like the low-cap divisions are losing more popularity.

    Thoughts?

  14. It really depends on how fast the star is. If it’s a little slower, I go: Top, left, right, left, right. If it’s faster, I still start on the top and work my way around. Just don’t go top, bottom 😬😂
