My level I match this month will be 5 stages with a min. round count of 40 per stage. I am dubbing it a mini monster match. I've told people for years that my last match as MD was going to be something to remember. If you are in the area on the 4th sat, come on by. Oh yeah don't forget your halloween costume too, we'll have a cash prize for the best one.

How about the fact that it says Bedell on the side of the comp? I had an old open gun with a similar comp on it. It could be an older design maybe.

Listen to this man. I made the mistake of making a turkey this way about 5 years ago. I've been stuck making the trukeys ever since.

I think the cost to shoot all three days kind of drives the local away. You have to look at the majority of the local steel shooters and in that area it has been IDPA folks that come out. I know there is a new Steel club in St. Augustine so maybe they will help generate some more locals at this match. I drive just under 3 hours to get there, so I consider myself one of those locals. Derek said they would get the website updated soon. I really hope it stays in FL.

I'm sure I could get a car load depending on what day the match was. It looks like it might be a great place for a multigun match.

I had heard VA by one group talking and then NC by another group and both groups said they heard it from Mike and Derek. I had not heard anything from the horses mouth until I called Derek yesterday. I was very glad to see it returning to Tville. It is only a 3 hour drive instead of a 10 hour drive. Not that any of those locations are bad choices you know, I have shot at both and enjoy it, but Tville in March is great.

It is scheduled for March 25, 26, 27 2010 in Titusville, Fl. The range is normally open for all day practice starting the Tuesday prior to the match

I've been told they take the stage description and on the first full moon after the nationals they sacrafice an armadillo and the first numbers they see are the HHF for that stage. There was also mention about dancing and such, but the mental image made me quit listening anymore.

See what kind of set up help you have first. If only 2-3 people show up to help, then Steel Challenge stages are the way to go. If you have 10 - 15 then a falling steel is doable. 3 guys and 1 truck can set up 5 steel stages in about 30 minutes.

I use a super light 6 inch sight tracker in 9mm. I'm a nobody though. I saw a mix of 5 and 6 inch guns at the US Steel Nationals this year.

Give me another trip or to to the shop and I can have one for you. If you are in a hurry, I hope someone has one laying around for you. Merlin, I was wondering the same thing but I think I have a solution for that problem.

The recoil spring is the same spring used in a 1911. Is is inexpensive and easy to replace. We have found that if you replace it every 1000-1500 rounds (or sooner wont hurt) you will eliminate the nagging failure to go into battery failure that can crop up and cost valuable seconds on a stage. Even if it just makes me feel better it is worth the 8.00. Shells are $6 a box so a $8 spring every 4 cases seems cheap insurance.
The green Remington gun club shells also seem to work well and have a very stiff hull, possibly more suited to reloading, at a similar cost. I have had a case of the 7/8 Fiocchi slugs on backorder since before the Ironman, I hope they show up this season.

I had forgotten about this thread, Since my last post, I've dismantled mine moved it from the warehouse to my house (thanks for the advice about renting the liftgate truck) got it onto the slab in the back yard, reassembled it, and built the shed to house it without a single other persons help. I still have to shingle and side the outside of the shed but I'm hoping to have the phase converter this week and be able to fire it up. I'm trying to add pics but so far no luck
What size shed did you build around it? I am about to do the same thing.

Let's see, SEPSA on the second Sat(a couple of Tally people make the trip, ask Dave M.) My match(Coastal Area Practical Shooters) shoots in GA on the fourth Sat, East Alabama on the second Sunday, There are others depending on how far you want to drive. Just call or email the club rep listed on the USPSA site. That is what they are paid the big bucks for

It's somewhere between a 22lr and a minor gun. It tracks as well or better than my major load, but I can not hear my hits because it is so much loader than my USPSA major load. I'm going to try a different powder next time.

I'm using Eric's load for my open gun. It runs fine, but is way louder than my major load for some reason.

Since I am the MD at my local match I just bring by steel challenge open gun that I run a 120 PF in and that is the designated calibration gun/ammo. I'm sure most clubs can find someone that shoots a 115-125 PF steel load that can bring that set-up with them to the match just in case. That way there are no hard feelings come lunch time and you teach the new guys/ladies how the rule works for when they finally go to a state or area match. The learning should be done locally not at a major match.

Yes, it does. I'm worn out, burnt out, fed up, etc. I noticed I was not having a good time at any match lately and it seems more like a chore than fun. I need a break. I'll run the occasional 3 gun match and the January 2 gun match, but that is it.
