  1. I am going to work on cutting my stock barrel after the US nationals this month. I am going to cut it off short, flatten the slide, cut that hunk of metal off the bottom of the slide then drill and tap it for a cmore. I am not woried about resale value because it is a tool that will be used and used hard.

  2. I don't know if the match primers are needed, but I was able to get them for the same price as the regular primers. I was just using what I had. Right now I am liking Ramshot TAC for powder. It meters well, is cheap and JP recommended it for my gun.

  3. Here is a very basic and simple breakdown for 77 gr SMK The case price from Atlanta Arma is $745 and a case from midway for the Federal match 77 gr SMK is $1550 plus shipping. I can buy brass for $90 per K, bullets for $212 K, Fed match primers for $35, and powder for $60. That gives me a grand total of about $397 per K of 77 gr SMK. Depending on what you would have bought the cost saving add up quick.

  4. Which ever you get make sure it is light, reliable, and put a red dot on it. I say this because I have seen several dads put a 22 conversion on a haevy 1911/2011 frame and the kid could not hold it up for 5 runs in a row. Next I have seen kids quit because they were clearing jams more than shooting, and the red dot makes steel the most fun because they are no longer fearful of those small plates. I have put my old buckmark with a light tactical solutions barrel and cmore in the hands of a 8-10 year old and had to pry it out of their hands at the end of the day.

  5. Since I did not have any luck selling my Stinger I want to rebarrel it and make a dedicated steel gun out of it. I emailed STI and they no longer have the barrel/comp parts availible. What 9mm barrel can I use? These come as bull barrels with a fixed comp, but they have an odd length I think. Should I just switch to a bushing type barrel with a cone comp to save more weight? Any ideas and help would be great.

  6. Ya I am OK I got a little cut by my noose but other then that i'm good and my gun is fine but it stop extracting after that. They think it was a double charge or a bad case.

Good chance it blew some junk into the extractor tunnel that kept it from moving properly...probably more likely than actually bending the extractor. Glad to hear a minor cut was as bad as it got!

Thank goodness for safety glasses! R

P.S. you may want to consider loading your own ammo now ;)

Yep, when I first started a buddy of mine loaded my ammo also. After 2 squibs at an Area match I had a Dillon 650 on the way.

  7. This is what I was sent on this question:

The 2010 Glock Gen4 guns are a major external and internal re-design of what Glock has offered in the past, and the following parts will NOT interchange with the Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 guns:

    • frame,

    • slide,

    • trigger bar,

    • magazine catch,

    • recoil spring assembly,

    • back-strap assemblies,

    • trigger mechanism housing,

    • trigger mechanism housing pin.

  8. Good idea to ask the SO ahead of time if you can do the shoot throughs and not get a penalty. This clears it right up.

OMG, that's a good one. I say that because I shot a sanctioned match where I asked the SO if I could do something and he said "No" that afternoon I watched him shoot the same stage and he did it the way he told me I could not. So, after that I just do it and if they want to give a PE then they have to show me in the rules where it was earned.

  9. Sometimes when having trouble with your double stack , you might wonder why did I leave single stack ?

I have seen way more single stack issues than I have double stacks. The only thing that has ever slowed down my double stacks has been questionable ammo or a broken part that I was not aware of due to my lack of knowledge about the gun.
