  1. N Fla here. When it gets below 60, I wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt. If it is cold and windy I will add a wind shirt.

I happen to know that Jaxshooter is not telling the whole truth......he has added flames to the grip of his open gun to keep his hands warm

  2. You are going to find that it varies from one shooter to the next. I started with a gun with a couple of popple holes, then went to a gun with 4 big honkin hybrid holes. Now both of my guns don't have any holes in the barrel except the one for the bullet to come out of. Try as many as you can before you decide.

  3. Can I get Excel to give me the sum of the highest 6 values from a row of up to 12 values? If so, how?

    For example

    Row 1 100 90.5 93.8 100 99.08 68.22 99.05 100 100 100 best six would be 599.08

Are you wanting to Average or the Sum of the best six?

The sum of the best six.

  5. Flex, resale is one of things I'm thinking about. If I build a gun that I know can make major with no problem, it seems like I'm not limiting myself to steel shooters. I guess that's why I'm thinking a full size with some slide lightning. I agree with you on the weight issue, I think I will prefer a slightly heavier gun. One more question, how do most people finish out the build as far as frame parts, do they go with the completion kits, or buy parts individually?

They let their smith decide. ;)

    +1

  6. The STI .22 conversion upper I put on my Springfield 1911 frame is a bit wider, but works flawlessly.

Not sure if that helps or not.

    Z

Those conversions that will work on either frame is what made me think they were all the same. But, now I wonder why people that want their 1911 slide fit to a widebody frame are always told not to do it, that it won't work right?

  7. Since I'm due to renew my membership, I think I'll call and ask who the decision maker would be. Then I'll send them the pictures and see if I can get an official verdict. I'm not so sure about the I want to do it so it should be legal argument. The book says you can put decorative cuts on it just not lightening cuts. We'll see.

  8. FLAT TOP CUT, DEEP FRONT AND REAR COCKING SERRATIONS, TOP STRAP SERRATIONS, REAR SLIDE SERRATIONS, CARRY BEVEL MELTING, AND FRENCH CUTS ON THE SLIDE ARE ALL OK, AND ALL REDUCE WEIGHT. FLUTES ON THE OTHER HAND, CANNOT SERVE ANY OTHER FUNCTION.

Really? I think they are decorative, so I guess they can serve another function. Tri-topping would take way more weight off the slide than the flutes do.
