  1. I have a "system" mag in 10mm made to fit the box but be long enough to work with SVI magwells. It says 10 rounds on it, and holds 10+1 but I don't think I would run it with 10 in a match. Its a cut down 10 rounder. I'm thinking if you order a system mag for 38 super its still going to fit the box and hold 11 easily since the regular ones already hold 10.

On a side note why would you want it to hold 11? 10+1 is all you get for minor in USPSA and IDPA esp anyway. I could see it if you could get the 10mm/40 mags to hold 10+1 for ESP in IDPA though.

Not to be picky, but I still don't get why people say a magazine holds 10+1 like that. The magazine holds 10. The gun holds 10+1. If a mag was really 10+1, it would be an 11 round mag ;)

The system mag I tried for 10/40 wouldn't quite fit the box and I had to take a touch off the front portion of the basepad....but that'll vary based upon rear sight style and height.

Where can I find systems mags?

  2. Still not legal, right?

It's the 6in sight tracker barrel that hasn't shown the proper numbers yet to be limited legal, I believe?

Slides of 5 & 6 inches are legal...and whatever amount of milling on them is legal.

Correct, not legal YET is the key there. From my understanding it might not be long. I'm thinking this combo would be the best of both, extra sight radius and the weight of a light 5 in slide.

  3. One reason I would be interested in a 10mm barrel swap, as opposed to Howards's suggestion (which is of course valid), is to be able to use factory loaded ammunition for personal defense/duty use. Bout the hottest 40 stuff out there, still cant touch hot factory 10.

Same here Mike, 21 rounds of full power 10mm is one hell of a night stand gun.

  4. I find that acquiring things that go BOOM is a far safer midlife crisis to have than say...nubile 18 year old co-eds and convertibles. I say this seriously, and have told my .40 carrying spouse as well. A fun roll in the hay with aforementioned co-ed/nymph is not worth a (well deserved) sucking chest wound. Congrats on the blaster :)

Now that is funny, but it's not a real crisis until you feel the need for a second one, then you need 2 open guns, then 2 single stacks and then two production guns and then 2 production guns of a different type just in case and then...........well you get the idea.

  5. There is a guy that shoots in Wildwood FL that uses an XD I think. Someone made him a spring retention tray that fits on his belt and holds his mags. He drops the mag, then puts the gun over the mag that is standing straight up and then seats it. If he has a malfunction he uses the rear sight against his holster to rack the slide.

  6. The .9mm open all the way.

    Contact Jim Anglin @ jjanglin@msn.com

Sailors Custom Pistols- every one he builds

"RUNS" I shoot with many people who are

shooting Jim's guns- not just open .9mm but

    limited also! :roflol:

That is my advice also. Jaxshooter and I both have open guns from him, and they have run from day one with range pick-up brass. Don't use anything but SV mags also. If you go to the SV site and order them when you order your gun, then you should be fine.
