  1. Going back to the holstering a gun in single action mode with the safety not applied, when is the gun holstered? I think as soon as the trigger is covered you have commited the safety infraction. Sombody yesterday said that if your hand is still on the gun it is not holstered. Is there a definition of holstered gun that I am missing? Do we need a clarification on when a gun is considered holstered?

  2. All I can go by is what has worked for me. In my 1998 Dodge Ram I put Mobil 1 in from the get go. I change the filter at 5K and the oil and filter at 10K When I traded it in 10 years and 175,000 later the engine ran just as smooth, quiet, and cool as the first time I drove it. My 2006 diesel gets the same type of changes. The manual calls for 7500 change interval with conventional oil. I switched to synthetic at 50K and now do the same filter at 5K and oil + filter at 10K. I'll check back in on this thread when I hit 500K ;)

  3. Roger Heatherly (fireant) you are in brother!! Welcome to the competition squad!! Contact Micah for your info and contract. Pharoah Bender here on the forums.

Dang, I have to clean Diet Coke off my monitor now. You sound like my 8 year old today. One of our teachers is retiring, so my son asked me if I would retire. After I explained the process to him he went home and told my wife that Daddy was retiring and so was he. That way he could keep me company during the day. I can't even post an edited version of what my wife had to say about that

  4. That sucks Roger.

Did you tell them you have to go a defend your title?

If Nemo doesn't need a slot I could use it.

For some reason that did not make them change their mind. There is just something about the type that run a school system you know.

  5. Of course it is best to have a written stage description, but that is not always possible at the club level. I feel it is our responsibility as fellow shooters to ensure the intregity of the match/sport if we see this hapening.

Why not? I always have them at my match. It does not take much time at all to grab a piece of paper and write it out. I hate going to matches that don't have a WSB. There is one match that when I choose to go I accept that they will not have a WSB, I don't like it, but I like the group that shoots there.

  6. You mean "that DAMN swinging plate"? Or I think that's what Susan called it. Everything else she said about is too graphic to be put on the forum. ;)

That's funny. Yep, Flex does not have enough time in a week to edit out all the foul words I used the first time I shot that thing. Everyone in the peanut gallery was shouting to leave it and go. By that time it was the principal that mattered. That plate was going down or I was going to run out of ammo. Those were the days I went to the line with 7 or 8 20 round mags. I try not to have flashbacks to that day when I see the swinging plate these days.

  7. Yes Sir! That way that shooter does not have to learn the painful lesson my friend did. Hopefully the DQ will sting him bad enough he will focus on the task at hand. If he can't get into the game enough to make his gun safe, what's next?

OK...so I'm the shooter and I just realized that I holstered with the safety off; HOWEVER, before I can draw my gun again to put the safety on, the RO yells out "Stop - Your DQ'ed for holster a gun without the safety.."???? .....this in my opinion is a major DICK move because it does not give the shooter the opportunity to fix the problem.

That gun in the holster with the safety off is no more unsafe than the gun in his hand two seconds before. I think the guy should have the opportunity to fix the problem.

You can not undo a safety violation. You can not unbreak the 180, so how can you undo your DQ action? You have it pointed out, take it like a man, help RO/paste for the day and remember to put the safety on. We should not even think of a rule book revision that eases up on any safety rule we have.

  8. Bobby,

I keep telling you to squad with me when you shoot there:) Oh wait a minute I had already bailed by then. The look on the RO's face alone tells me he knew you should have a reshoot. That solid wall should have been replaced with one of the see through orange mesh walls they have. That way the RO never has to go past the wall, but could still see the shooter. That was the palm in the score keepers left hand, not a shooter trying to get the dope on the stage.

Let me know when you are down again. I'll take my calm the hell down pill and maybe shoot the match.
