  1. I picked the gun up yesterday and was very surprised at how it felt and balanced. This thing balances better than most of my 5 inch limited guns. I switched to standard dust cover guns a while back because they started feeling too nose heavy. I had a lightened 6 inch gun in 40 that was nice, but still nose heavy. Now, this gun is not nose heavy in the least little bit. The balance is amazing and 15 yard controled pairs were amazing double alpha's with factory 125 grain NATO ammo. I can't wait to get a day without rain and a chance to work up a good load for it. I may just have to shoot some unplanned open minor next year since this thing is wicked bad. Thanks Matt. Now I need to handle one of your open guns.

  2. Hello: If you need them to fit the gauge and want them to feed correctly----yes they need to be tuned. I am not sure what the original poster was looking for in the way of mags 140mm or 170mm? The SVI mags come with very narrow feed lips that will not feed correctly for most pistols. The angle is not quite correct either on the feed lips for 9mm. Thanks, Eric

Hmm, interesting, I am all for tunned mags for max capacity. But, I have a large number of stock 140 tubes that ran perfect from the start. I put some grams guts in them and a dawnson +1 pad and went to a match. Now those mags only run 22 rounds and my tunned mags hold 24. I have taken stock SV 170 tubes and done the same thing and get a reliable 29 rounds. When you want every last fraction of a mm to get the most rounds in a mag, then get it tunned, but I don't think they are that bad from the factory. If you are having gun function problems, try a tunned mag.

  3. Any new news on these sears? How are the preproduction sears? These would make good Christmas gifts and its that time of year.

I just emailed Kenny for you, I'll post here when I hear back from him.

No, they are not ready yet. Kenny is still waiting for them.

  4. I've had a full dust cover 5" sight tracker and now I'm shooting light weight 6" guns. From a B Class perspective, the sight tracker isn't much more than a creative way to lighten the slide. If I was a Master Class and reading the sights better, that opinion might be different.

Now, I can track the front sight much better with a 5 inch short dust cover sight tracker. This coming from a B class shooter that just made A class the last time I picked up my limited gun. The 6 inch gun I loose the front sight in the middle of the recoil impulse, the sight tracker I can track the sight the entire time in recoil. Oh I do have a new 6 inch gun on order just for the cool factor.

  5. I have shot both side by side and have decided that for the most part its a wash as to which is better for me. The 5 in sight tracker is great for up close stuff while the 6 inch gun shines on those stage with 25 yard + steel and paper. I tried loads from 155 grains up to 220 grains. I have decided that you just need to pick one and practice. I have plans to shoot standard at the next world shoot, so I am staying with a 5 inch until after that.

  6. Either is a good choice Mario. I have found that Schuemann barrels need just a little more powder to make the same PF as other barrels. I have a KKM in my Gans gun and it shoots great. My Anglin gun has a Storm Lake and it is as good as the others.

  7. I may have misquoted, or misrepresented, his response to me. My appologies to John if I did.

I specifically asked if I could add one inch to a 5inch barrel. He said no, not in a factory 5" gun. I can not add 1" to a 5" barrel for use in a 5" gun. He did not say that I couldn't use a factory 6" barrel in a 5" gun, because that was not specifically what I asked. I took it to mean (my interpretation) that I could not have a barrel extend past the slide 1". A 5" gun must have a 5" barrel, a 6" gun must have a 6" barrel. That was MY impression, not his.

But, can a 6 inch gun have a 5 inch slide? I mean, it started out as a 6 inch slide, but I milled it down to a 5 inch.

  8. Yep, I agree with Sean here. How would you go about getting that provision removed? Start with your Area Director? I think Limited should be like open in that new innovations should be allowed as long as they do not have comps, ports, optics or mags longer than 140mm.
