  1. I have mine up and going and all I can say is wow! The auto drive and Mr. Bullet feeder are an awesome combination. I'm glad I have some primers set aside. I can make the year's worth of ammo in a couple of hours during 1 week, then switch calibers and do a years worth of another caliber the next week. Also, a big thanks to Matt P. for helping get things adjusted just right.

  2. The reason I point that out is because this load felt softer in my open gun than my production 124 gr load with Clays. So, we touched one off in a limited minor gun. Notice I said one. I still want to get this load running in my gun. Any idea how much longer you could load those bullets?

  3. Back the timer up and figure out the time( also give the shooter a good talking to).

Why give the shooter a good talking to? Mistakes happen. I see someone hit the stop early at almost every steel match; and usually the shooter tries to work their out of it, before they realize that it's run over.....

I'd have to look at the rules to be sure, but locally we've backed the timer up to the time of first stop plate hit and then assessed misses....

I'm not talking about someone that just hits the stop twice or anything, I'm talking about the shooter that drills the stop plate 5 or 6 times in fustration. The RO has to decide how many extra shoots have to be backed up on the timer. I'm also not talking about some one that hits the stop plate early.

  4. Member Kend has been shooting his M&PL in limited minor with good results. He won HOA at the Central Florida section match and just won limited today at the St. Augustine monthly match. If you shoot Alphas it does not matter. I believe Kenny gets a reloadable 23 in a mag and can start with 25 in the gun. He can also hook you up with what you need since he runs Speed Shooter Specialties.

  5. Well the USPSA rules always say the COF ends with the last shot fired. I think we get used to that and apply it most of the time. The Steel Challenge rules say the run is over when the stop plate is hit. So, if you shoot 3 plates then the stop plate and back to the missed plate and the stop plate again, your run was over the first time you hit the stop plate. You can't unhit it. Just like sometimes in a local USPSA match someone will just empty the last mag into the last target/berm in fustrationfor a bad run, if one of those shots hits the stop plate that is the end of the run. Back the timer up and figure out the time( also give the shooter a good talking to).

  6. From my understanding and shooting the GA state match is the time stops on the first hit of the stop plate. So, you run the timer back to that shot, give them that time then the penalty. Don't ask me how I know they score it that way. That also works the same for a shooter that has a bad run and shoots the stop plate say, I don't know 5 or 6 more times in fustration. They run the timer back to the first hit on the stop plate. Steel challenge is very and I mean very shooter friendly.

  7. You could get away with only having 1- 170 and 2- 140's. I carry 3- 170's and 4- 140's in my bag. I have 7 mag spots so I can tell in a glance if one is missing, I can also load them all the night before a local match and in most cases not have to load a mag during the match. That gives me 185 rounds loaded up and a handful in the bag just in case.

  8. I'm running 9.2 grains of HS-6 with a MG 115JHP loaded to 1.180 This load chronoed at 172.3 this past weekend from a 5 inch stormlake barrel with a 3 port EGW 9 major comp. It also chroned at 169 through my 5 inch KKM barrel with 4 port Gans comp with two bleeder holes on each side. I have shot 115's, 121's, and 124/125's and I keep coming back to a 115. It hits the hand a little bit more, but the gun really flattens out. HS-6 is dirty, but I can run 2 or 3 thousand rounds of it without having to clean my gun, so it is fine in my book. Plus it is cheap.

  9. Kenny shot the FL section match with his M&PL. The results say it all :cheers::bow:

  10. Fireant, not sure where Woodbine is, seems like it's nearer Atlanta but I shoot at the Tallahassee matches. We shoot the 3rd Sat of the month. If you'd like to try a match and don't mind the drive, shoot me a pm or email and we can get together. Match fee is only $15. Ed

    Ed,

Thanks, I will make it over some. I'm over at the GA/FL border above Jacksonville.

  11. I have been reading all the threads on here and still have some questions. I will use one of my open guns and am not going to try to mount a shroud or mover base on it. I can down load to a steel challenge type of load right? Do you have to shoot one side of the baricade with the support hand? I see the people with the cup guns do it, but do you have to? It seems like it would be just as easy to shoot the way I do in an IPSC match. I think I can practice everything but the mover locally, is there a cheap way to make a mover to practice on?

    Thanks.

  12. I have two guns with a 3 port comp that likes a 125 hp and a little slower powder and one gun with a 4 port comp that likes a 115 hp with a faster powder. You will have to pick a smith, then something they use then develop a load that you like in the gun. All open guns are different. You might not like my set-up, but with a different load you might find something you love. It is like NASCAR the teams share the same basic set-up, but one driver wins the race with that set-up and the other finishes last. There is no one perfect set-up. Pick one that feels good to you, get it to recoil the way you like and go practice. When you wear it out you should know what you want in your next gun.
