  1. yep the old ipsc version has the adjustable rear..i like being to able to adjust my sights to my loads..(steel,major,Bowling pin)....i have not really weighed it yet but the gun will get liposuction probably next month via Matt Cheely ogiebb- what work are you having matt cheely do for you? I've thought if I could get those same slide cuts he makes on the other pistols on the CZ that might get the slide movin' faster on the Tactical Sports. When you have it done, show off some pictures. -Albert
  2. Middle Man, Nice photos and good job with the magwell and application of skateboard tape. Did you have the magwell anodized, painted? Or did you get it that way?
  3. I know this is not along the same lines, but what about stock XDs in general. I've heard some people say that the XD are not a double action pistols and are more like a single action pistol. I believe that is one reason why in IDPA they are not allowed in what I think is the closest thing to USPSA production, SSP division (Stock Service Pistol). I know they are currently okay for USPSA production.
  4. Merlin, Chris @ Ready Tactical seems to be a really nice guy when I've dealt with him and very apologetic when he doesn't come through right away. I've had success contacting him through the paypal e-mail address he uses, maybe that will help. I used to have an alternate phone # for him (the one that he checks more often/picks up) but unfortunately I've misplaced it. Good luck.
  5. I believe Ihatepickles got it right in identifying the round count issue between the CZ Tactical Sport and the Sig. I'm partial to the CZ as I have one, but I've heard good things about the Sig. The other issue of available accessories/upgrades is the other downfall for both. At least there is enough of a following of the CZ and that fact that we have Angus Hobdell tweaking them for competition that gives the CZ a little more advantage. I'm not sure though, are there any aftermarket or factory upgrades available to the Sig?
  6. I would guess it depends on where the crack is. If it's by anywhere where you modified it, I would doubt he would warranty it.
  7. Thanks, great advice. I don't know where I found this info on modifying the follower as well, but I did that with my first 4 and started to have problems. I'm thinking now, no modification to the follower and just to the basepad. I've also had issues with the TF basepad modified to fit the Makfakta magwell and I've split 2 of those basepads where it connects to the back of the mag tube. i keep seeing the recommendation to not use the metal plate, although I've modified those too to fit the bottom of the basepad better. i'll try removing those with an unmodified follower to see if I can get the 20 rds working reliably.
  8. I've been put on their "to be contacted by e-mail" list twice since they first announce them. A friend of mine scolded me for passing a certificate up at the 06 Area 1 prize table and I told him at this point I'd be still staring at that certificate with no frame in hand. Still vapor.
  9. Hey ihatepickles, have you been shooting your TS or IPSC Standard regularly in competition with your modified 20 rd mags? I noticed in the newer thread you mentioned using the STI spring. I had talked to Angus Hobdell and he mentioned the use of the Bevan Gramm's Spring as a replacement spring. I tried to shoot in early fall with my TS and modified mags and decided 19 reliably was better than 20 and potential jams. I'm still experimenting with my reloads and OAL. Factory S&B seem to feed and fire through them fine. -Albert
  10. Only one I can think of are the CZ +2.5 basepads
  11. I can't quantify this except for the conversation I had with the gentleman that mentioned it, but during the match, I was told that on his Square Deal reloader he had run into the "glocked brass" issue and wrote to Dillon who then sent him an undersizing Square Deal die that cured the "glocked brass" issue. Anyone else with a Square Deal have the same experience?
  12. Get the tuned mags. I don't have an S_I, instead I've got a CZ Tactical Sports and boy what I would give for tuned, reliable mags that holds 19 to 20 rounds consistently.
  13. you have to do a little dremeling to get 19-20 rounds on them...when i first set up mine it was only holding 18 rounds without dremel work i hope somebody can make some aluminum base pads for our mags or at least some quick disassemble ones....the TF are great but taking it apart is kinda a pain especially for a guys who are just so used to cleaning their mags after each stage...but my extreme thanks to TF for making some that we can use right now At one point in speaking with Robin of the Taylor Freelance basepads for the CZ he mentioned that he was planning on making them out of aluminum as it was less expensive to manufacture than the current delrin version. I don't believe he would change the design though as the locking plate with screws is part of the design to keep the basepad in place. I agree at least he's making them. Right now, I don't believe he has any competition in the US.
  14. How are those working out for you? Do those feel better than mag pouches that point the bullets to the side? Interested in that design. I haven't tried the mag pouches like the cr speed so I can't make a fair comparison. I like the idea of less rotation that the speedcomp pouches suggest. I don't like the fact that they are not easily adjustable, but I can live with it. -Albert
  15. Not sure, and anyone else please correct me if I'm wrong, I was told that the cpmi pads are not compatible with the larger IPSC Standard/Tactical Sport magazines as these magazines are quite larger than the Tanfoglio/Witness magazines.
  16. I agree those Limcat holders look very simple and clean. I went for something a little more clunky looking but can place the mag in the same position and there is no issue with tension.
  17. I'm wondering if the teflon Arredondo follower&spring for Tanfoglio's can be massaged to fit the TS to add another round? Arredondo Tanfoglio follower&spring Iwas thinking the same thing at one point and purchased that same set up, but really just to get the spring. Spring was definitely shorter and stiffer and a little narrower and did not get more rounds with the TS follower (factory or modified) but it did seem to have more push to get the rounds to the top and fed into the barrel. I've thought about trying again and taking some material from the back of that follower to get it to fit.
  18. Try here these directions are spot on. Good luck
  19. I don't really think it's silly. Thing is, the XD trigger system, while out-of-the-box it's no great shakes trigger pulls-wise, can be smithed to the point it rivals a 1911. So yeah, while it seems more like a double action out-of-the-box, the potential is there to make it de facto a custom 1911 in SSP. And I don't think that's something that anyone wants. Thanks Duane, I had no idea the XD's trigger could be smithed to that level. In that case I'm glad they're only good for IDPA's ESP division.
  20. See my post above. The M&P is not legal for SSP division due to it's "single action" trigger. Just for clarification, which is it for the M&P? OK for SSP division or not. I get the distinction made on the XD (although I think it's silly-let XDs play in SSP!) to only compete in ESP but this is the first I've heard that the M&P is not allowed in ESP. Can anyone else qualify that statement? I thought the M&P is basically the same to the glock with a few enhancements, especially to the grip. If I started today in IDPA, IMO, I'd go with the M&P in .40S&W and start off in SSP and also play in ESP as you could download the .40S&W.
  21. It's good to know I wasn't the only one who broke their kinetic bullet puller. After I broke it and picked up another one I glanced at the directions and a big full swing down onto a piece of carpet on top of concrete was not listed to describe it's usage. I'll be tapping it onto an old butcher block piece the wife retired from the kitchen from now on and not as much force.
  22. joe, i'd go with all the recommendations here for a CZ. I've gone through my glock and 1911 phase and i'm now enjoying my cz's as you will too. +1 on what vlad mentioned, get it in 9mm
  23. They've got ladies night every tuesday at Wade's in Belluvue. That's reasonable close to south Seattle. You can search for more ranges below. http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/findlocal.asp?State=WA http://www.packing.org/range/washington/ http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/findlocal.asp?State=WA Renton Fish and Game Clubmight be the closest to South Seattle
  24. My TS is with Angus right now, or hopefully at hardchroming by now and I'll let you know when I get it back.
  25. Nice work. Any chance you measured the grip before you put on the new slim aluminum grips? What is it now? Especially since you mention it kinda grips and feels like a single stack.
