Another option is the Carver magwell. Size is in-between the SSS ESP and SSS Limited.

I had this exact same issue with my M&P Pro 9 when I first got it using new Fiocchi 115gr. I attributed it to a bad box of ammo. Have shot over 1,000 rounds using the same ammo and hasn't happened again.
I would guess its the ammo.

I've read of others using the kit that only changes the internals and they like the performance they get from it. I personally have no experience with it.

I installed the Apex trigger on my M&P 9 PC. Nice trigger pull and I left the stock trigger spring on mine. Best upgrade IMO.

Your overthinking the ammo. Just get the cheapest you can find. In my experience with both my M&P 9mm, they will shoot everything including spitballs (not really but you get the point).

Good info thanks....I have always been a FIOCCHI fan in my recreational shooting. Care to share your source or just local gun shops?
I get it from Sportsmansguide.com. Great prices. Another one is https://www.freedommunitions.com but their shipping is very slow.

I loooed at their pricing and $125 is misleading bc they media blast your slide and you have to get it cerakoated. Are they not able to cut the rmr slot without needing to get a cerakote? True price is double at 250$ all said and done.
Contact them through Instagram. They'll answer any questions you have.

I've been shooting the Performance Center 5" for the last several weeks in Steel Challenge and USPSA but do it more for fun. With that said, I've been using Fiocchi 115gr that I buy in bulk for less than $10 a box. If I can't find the Fiocchi I'll buy what ever is the cheapest brass ammo I can find. Other guys I've spoken to do the same.

Didn't send them out at the same time but the slide milling was more like 2-3 weeks. The stippling was right at four weeks. If you send them out at the same time you should have them back within a month. Contact them and check pictures of their work on Instagram before making your decision. That's what I did and worked out great.

Thanks. Turn around time is about four weeks for both.

The fit on my M&P9FS 4.25” frame was the same fit as if it came with it and performance was just as expected. The kit doesn’t come with a recoil spring. I purchased a 13# recoil spring and non-captured 5” guide rod. In the end I’m very happy with the outcome and put over 800rds through it.
I will add that the reason I didn’t buy a complete M&PPC Core was because “all” the Performance Center guns I looked at had a trigger pull that was not what I expected, and was not even close to the feel that my M&P9FS had when I first bought it.
Here’s a picture of the gun after coming off the range. Dirty but its the only one I have right now. -

Did this come with the three plates for mounting different red dots?
Yes, it came with five different mounting plates.

The slide was milled by Jagerwerks and the stippling was done by Damato Custom Stippling. Excellent workmanship by both companies.

I tried the dovetail mounted red dot on my M&P9FS before committing to getting my slide milled for an RMR.
For me it worked out. My vision is not the same and the red dot was just what the doctor ordered. I ordered one from Amazon for the FF3, but wound up getting my M&P milled for RMR.
The company that milled mine re-milled the rear dovetail to accept a Glock rear sight because there was no way to fit a stock rear sight. I wound up getting suppressor sights from Dawson Precision to make them work as co-witness.

At $419 on those, a bit too close to a whole gun price. Really thinking Apex will be a better product for the money or close...that would appeal to me. I don't like how loose the factory slides are on the frame inserts much less the possibility of barrel related accuracy problems.
Old post but I just picked one up for less than $340.

Dawson will make you a custom rear. They're a bit more, but not too much.
After talking with their tech department, they clarified the proper way to measure the rear sight height. I'm all squared away now.
Thanks.

Is 60 considered a senior? Hope not.

I’m new to the forum and was referred to this site by a shooter I recently met. He said if I had any technical questions, this is the forum to get them. At age 60, I can barely focus on the stock iron sights and the red-dot has enabled me to enjoy shooting again. I suck at it, but hope to get better with time.
I have an M&P 9mm 4.5” that I had milled to accept an RMR. A new rear dovetail was milled for a Glock sight and the front remains an M&P sight.
I initially started with Dawson .395” tall x .125” rear sight which was too tall. Dawson Precision suggested I try the .305” sight which was too short. I went a got a digital caliper and did some measurements and looks like the correct rear sight will be .350” if I measured it correctly.
On the Dawson site I couldn’t find any co-witness sights that measure .350” and I’m not sure if Dawson will custom make one but I’ll ask tomorrow when they open.
Is there any other company that you guys would recommend that I can check to see if they have the sight I need in stock?
TIA.
