  1. Little back story. Just bought my first gun in Oct. '16. Shot a Steel Challenge match in Dec and Jan, and my first USPSA match the last Sat. Of Jan. Video is below. Help me out, and I know there is gonna be a lot. Stage 2 had an out of battery malfunction Stage 3 I missed a target before my first reload, and had to come back after I had already dumped my mag which immediately pissed me off that I didn't execute my plan. Then I pulled an empty mag that I had put on my belt (won't make that mistake again). Then before the stage ever started, the Texas Star was already in my head, and I got very frustrated with myself on it.
  2. Look forward to shooting with ya. Just don't laugh to hard at my "little gun" I get self conscious about its size. LOL
  3. Welcome aboard the crazy train. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
  4. TennJeep, I'm in squad 2 for Saturday. Gonna be a long drive from Gulfport though.
  5. Will do, maybe we will meet up at the next Brothers N Arms match in Hattiesburg in March.
  6. Ok guys... When I got home tonight I started checking all my mags on the magnet. I have 4 extended mags and 1 flush mount for my Mod 2. None of the ext need mags will stick, but the flush mount mag is rock solid. I did notice that the flush mount mag has an extra stamp on the mag tube that the others don't. All of my mags are from Springfield. I think I'm going to try calling them to find out WTH. I really wanted the magnet for table starts, but at this point that is useless. I'll keep you guys posted.
  7. Just feel like I wasted my money on it now.
  8. I just received my magnetic mag pouch from DAA. My XD mags will not stick to it. I mean I think I understand how a magnet works. Anyone else have issues with these?
  9. I will be driving over to the USPSA match hosted by Mobile Practical Shooting from Gulfport on Saturday morning. If anyone from the Gulf Coast area would like to ride together, let me know. Would be nice to have some company for the drive.
  10. Taxil343, I see you are in Mobile. Are you going to be at the match next Saturday in Vinegar Bend?
  11. Welcome aboard. If you ever make it down to south Mississippi give me a shout. Have fun. Broski
  12. I completely agree... I'm shooting a 3" XD 9mm... They tell me I'm not doing bad with a "Derringer" we will see next weekend at my next match if I can keep it up
  13. I guess I should have done this post first, but too late to take back my other ones now. The name's Michael or "Broski" per my buddies. I just picked up a gun for the first time back in November when my 61yr old mother decided that since my father passed back in July that she wanted to start packin heat due to her hour plus drive to work every day. She politely informed me and the wife that we were all going to take a concealed carry class together and we needed to get some guns. Needless to say my eyes were the size of dinner plates and it was everything I could do not to start jumping around like and extatic little kid at Christmas. Well, to cut the story short I purchased a Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm with the 3" barrel for my carry gun and off we went to the class. Afterwards, I wanted to find was to improve my skills just in case I ever had to use my weapon and stumbled across a local Steel Challenge match. Signed up and shot it back in Dec. HOOKED is an understatement. Shot another steel challenge in Jan. and found a USPSA about an hour away also. Now I am already spending money that I haven't even made yet. I do want to go ahead and say thank you to all the admins and long time shooters on here that are willing to help out a new guy. Having read post after post on here about nearly everything, I think I have learned as much here behind a computer as I have at the actual matches. I look forward to meeting more of you guys as time goes on. If there are any of you all in South Mississippi or Alabama please let me know so we can try to meet up at a match somewhere. Broski
  14. For at least the next few months I will more than likely stick with my XD Mod 2 that I carry. Eventually I will look into something more competition oriented but for now the problems are with the Indian and not the arrow. I shot limited my first match, but not sure if I want to stay there or go production, still have to figure that one out.
  15. Ok guys looking to decide between DAA racers, CR Speed Versa and Ghost 360. I know the ghost can be converted to bullets out and they are the least expensive. Are there any pros or cons I need to be aware of before I make a purchase?
  16. Thank you for the info on KT Mech. I just ordered a holster from them today. Should have it before my match on the 18th. Will let you know how it works out.
  17. Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm w/ a 3" barrel
  18. Well guys I went and shot the match last month and for a lack of better terms I had a "BLAST". Met some great guys, they did pick on me all day about my little gun. Kept telling me "You're not doing bad considering you are shooting a Derringer." It's a done deal. I'm in. I'm thinking I'm gonna keep shooting my "little gun" for a little while until I decide exactly where I wanna land as far as division and gun. Gonna order a new holster, belt, and mag pouches just so I have them. I think the only thing that won't be useable later will be the holster, but I can keep it handy just in case. Will be making at least a 90 min drive to shoot another match on the 18th over in Alabama. I'll keep you guys posted. I did finish 41st out of 55. We had 61 registered but 2 didn't show and we had 4 DQs. Our classifier was "Front Sight" and I finished 41st overall and 16th out of 24 in limited with 39.32%. Over all I am pretty happy with how I did.
  19. Thank guys... I think I'll call KT Mech tomorrow and talk with them about getting a holster ordered. Still looking for some used mag pouches. Just trying to save a few bucks if possible.
  20. Ok, I have to preface this question by letting you all know that I am a complete rookie to shooting sports. I have now shot 2 steel challenge matches and 1 USPSA match. I am currently shooting a Springfield XD Mod2. I know this gun will NEVER be competitive, but until I figure out where I want to land as far as divisions, it is going to be what I am shooting. I am currently running a Fobus paddle style holster. I am about to order my first inner/outer belt and am trying to find some used pouches to buy. What I can't figure out is what holster to get. Can you guys help me here? If possible I would like to find w holster that would work for my little "Derringer" (3" barrel) and also a 5" model in case I stick with Springfield. It may not work, but would be nice. What do you guys think?
  21. Thanks guys... I have been trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy a belt and maybe some cr speed mag pouches. Or any other gear before I go this weekend
  22. Hey guys, I just started shooting period back in November, and shot my first Steel Challenge in Dec. Now I'm hooked. I shot another steel challenge this month, and thinking about shooting my first USPSA match this Saturday. I currently have a Springfield Armory XD Mod2 compact with the 3" barrel. I have a Fobus paddle holster and an XD dual mag pouch. I do have a total of 5 mags for it. My question is what else I need to get to be able to shoot the match and enjoy myself. Luckily my first steel challenge match I got squaded with Mosher (a forum member) who made my newbie nerves go away immediately. I am looking forward to another new experience this weekend. Any help or advice in general would be great. Thanks guys.
