For minor loads I like HS6 although it might be a bit dirty.
-
Yup many times and great shipping too.

Now hear this, I would venture to say that every avid reloader has had detonations of primers at some point. Its part of dealing with primers. Now, I have an 1100 and switching to MARK 7 was a great decision. Just gotta make sure the press is on point and properly set up to avoid any hiccups. I have a ton of videos on this in my channel if you'd like to peruse them.
-
Yup, same as above. I've never had a problem with them either.
-
I usually use several load books for reference. They will have different loads for the same bullet weight and powder combination, but I just select an average of all suggested.
-
I once talked with Bobby Carver, from Carver customs, and he said they are both GTG for 9mm. But I am talking about a major load.
-
Yeah, thanks all. I think I will have to give them a call. Also tomorrow I will check if I installed the sprocket in the right holes.
-
As for the indexing not coming all the way down to engage cases, I think I might have installed the index bar and sprocket in the wrong holes. Anyone?
-
Thanks Hogrider. However, my tablet is different than the one shown in the manual. I must be blind, but I don't seem to find the slot for the card.
-
Installed the thang. Looks good and runs. However, ran a single case and the top of the tool head does not come down enough to touch the case. Any ideas? Also, the tablet came with an SD card, but I don't see where this is inserted in the tablet. Any ideas? I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions as I go along...thanks guys

What happens here in FL, especially in the summer, is that its so hot that in addition to the bag you also need a cooler with drinks, a fan etc. So not only you need a roomy bag, but also cart wagon to haul all that s**t.

i have a major and minor powder measure for 9 but you could also just get a second powder bar and swap them out leaving the knobs untouched.
all my measures have these so it's super easy to pour out and change powders or swap

Thanks David. Decided to get another dedicated powder measure which has a totally different powder for minor. Also all my measures have that quick release. I love that thang.

My Czechmate won't even cycle with an 8lb spring, for the most part. Slide wont go all the way forward into battery.
-
never mind. Just came back from the range and these loads are way below minor and a couple barely over.
-
Developing a load between 5.5 and 6.3g of HS6 to get minor for steel matches. Using a 115 projectile. Thinking of an 8lb recoil spring. Anyone with a Czechmate had to develop similar loads and has had to go down to an 8?
-
thanks baker. I guess that's a much economical option than buying another measure.

Thanks sandflea

What's the reason for Minor? Some people will just drop a light bullet like a 90gr over the same powder charge, if they still want the comp and blast.
Trying a minor load for steel matches where having a Major PF is not needed.

I see no reason you couldn't go Minor with the bullet powder combo your using for major.
If the minor charge of AA#7 doesn't work the comp might as well go with a faster powder.
Yeah, if AA7 doesn't work, may have to go to HS6 or WAC.

Try it.. get one of the powder knobs with marks on it and crank it back a couple turns. Won't be an awesome minor load for a non-comped gun, but it works ok for things like steel challenge with an Open gun until you can get another measure.
I think I will try the minor load with the comp on. Really don't want to remove it. And, yes, this minor load would be for action steel matches. Thanks.
1 hour ago, superdude said:I've found A#7 to work fine in 9mm minor ammo. I don't have much experience with it and 115 grain bullets, but it produces very nice groups with 124/5 grain bullets from a 5.0 inch Kart barrel. For example, 6.0 grains and a 125 HAP at 1082 fps from the 5.0 inch barrel. 10 shots in 1.53 inches at 25 yards. And the velocity extreme spread was low at 27 fps. It's definitely worth trying.
So based on your results with a 125 grainer, I'm thinking I could start at 7 grains of AA7 and work my way up.
-
Philma, thanks for the advice. I have some WAC and HS6 I can try. My gun did not come with a second barrel, but did come with an adapter to put on when I remove the comp. I was hoping to keep the comp, though.

Thanks Joe. Trying not to change the entire tool head as I am loading on a 1100 and it gets pretty costly. Maybe I can get a separate measure. Just remove the top hopper assembly, leave the die and funnel and replace the hopper with the new one. Not sure why, I thought AA7 would be a good powder. Will look into it.

I load major in my 1100 with AA7. Thinking of developing a minor load with same bullet (115) and powder. I’m thinking I would only need to change powder charge for minor. Question, would I need to change OAL and seating depth as well?
Also, would you change the entire powder measure for one dialed to minor and have two powder measures or would you adjust the knob back and forth between minor and major?

I believe that if you at them from below, the U die is smaller.
