  1. I recently purchased a CZ Czechmate and before I bought it I had a hard time finding much info on them. So I wanted to post a somewhat in depth review of some of the things I wanted to know but could not find before I purchased mine. I will start with what does the package come with. The Czechmate is a great value for the price I feel because you are essentially getting two pistols. It comes ready to be setup for Open or Limited. The package includes 2 barrels, one muzzle attachment with a front site post for limited setup and a compensator for open setup, a rear sight for limited setup and a Cmore sight for open setup, a slide racker, three 20rd mags, one 26rd "big stick" mag, and several replacement parts such as an extra slide stop and a few pins. It also comes with allen wrenches, a cleaning brush, and a bottle of oil. Quite a nice little package for the price I think even at a full retail of $3,300. I can not comment on shooting in in the limited setup as I have not used it in this configuration yet, because I bought it to get into open and really have no desire to shoot it in the limited setup unless it were in something such as a prs match where I may not want my red dot getting banged around. The trigger is very light, I have not measured it but I did read in a couple posts that it measures under 2lbs and I think that's about right. My only complaint with it is that the reset is not very crisp and noticeable. The only thing I was really concerned with before I purchased it was how the trigger would be and I am not one bit dissapointed with it. Shooting it is a blast. This is my first open gun so I can not compare how flat it is to anything aside from my G17 with an RMR and very light 147gr loads. I can say I feel it shoots pretty flat and several friends who have shot it agree it is a very smooth shooting pistol. I am planning on adding a few popples holes and a couple side vents in the comp in the next week or so and will update after I shoot it a little with them. The factory recoil spring seems a little heavy and I have a lighter one en route. I will update after shooting some with it. It comes with four mags total but only one with a capacity of 26 so one of the first things I did was order some springer precision base pads to convert the 20rd mags to 28rd. They advertise 29rd with the grahams follower but I had trouble with the slide locking back using the grahams so I just run them with the factory follower and load 28rds. I have made a few modifications since I got it. First thing I did was extended the feed ramps on one of the barrels because I was having trouble with some bullets feeding due to nose diving in the high capacity mags. This is because the top of the magazine sits below the bottom of the feed ramps. Extending them down took care of this issue. The second thing I did was use a throating reamer to allow myself to seat my bullets out farther. If you want to run xtp profile bullets out in the 1.150-1.160 range you will need to do this. The last thing I did was took the magazines and made a notch in the front of them after I had a little hang up in one match. From what I could tell my rds were catching the top of the mag body on the lip of the brass causing me to have to pull the slide racker back a couple times in one stage to get a round to go in the chamber. All of these I did myself with a dremel and a 9mm throating reamer. I am using a DAA holster for an SP-01 which requires a small amount of sanding to get the trigger guard of the TS and Czechmates to fit but I was told by DAA right after I purchased my holster that they were releasing one specifically for the Czechmate within a week so that should be available by now. The grip. I have been shooting a glock for the last few years and when I got this pistol it felt so much more natural when I would bring it up to get a sight picture. Finding the dot seems much easier than with my glock that I had for a year or two with an RMR before I picked up this pistol, which I have only had for a couple months. That's about all I can think of right now, I will post update with any other info I think someone interested in one might be looking for.
  2. What pistol is this in the pic? If it's a CZ could you post a few more pics like what it lol like with an open slide.
  3. I shot a G17 with an RMR for a year or two before going with a full on open gun. It does take some getting used to. Definitely more than just a couple hundred rounds. My CZ feels so much more natural and easier to find the dot but I still have to get used to exactly where to bring the gun up to. Just takes repetition and lots of it.
  4. I just got into open but the general idea I've always understood and it is what I go by is you want a lighter bullet and a slow burning powder to create as much gas as possible to work the comp.
  5. Guess that picture is deceiving. Looks like a lot more space
  6. Myself and a friend who is a machinist will be doing it. So basically I will say put the hole there and he will do it lol. If I had a mini mill I would do it myself. Plan on acquiring one in the future.
  7. Thanks. Almost exactly how I was planning on doing it. The CZ comp has a lot of meat behind the muzzle of the barrel so I will have 2 on the comp and one right behind the intersection. Going to go with straight because I don't have a blast shield. 3/16 on center, is that the spacing you are referring to between holes?
  8. I just throated my Czechmate to shoot 124 precision deltas at 1.160. $50 for a throating reamer and about 10 mins of work. Actually went about .020 past but that just gives me room for other profiles and bullet inconsistencies.
  9. Just changed to precision Delta 124s and the charge I was using with my previous bullet of 7.2gr autocomp loaded out to 1.160 was putting me right around 175 PF. Federal magnum match primers
  10. I am thinking about adding some popple holes to my Czechmate but have a couple questions about it. 1. How many should I go with? 2. How big of a hole? 3. How far back should I start them? (Drill through the comp body or start before the threads on the barrel start) 4. How much space between the holes? This is for a 9mm shooting uspsa major. Thanks in advance for the help.
  11. I had this issue when I started using extreme bullets. The issue is that the feed ramps of the TS/Czechmate start above the lip of the mag. It is the bullet hitting the flat spot of the barrel, not hitting the mag. I took my time with a dremel but and some polishing bits to extend the ramps down. Now I can load 28(I use the CZ follower not Graham's) with no feeding issues. I will try to remember to post some pics from my computer later.
  12. I have been meaning to do a write up on mine after a couple more matches. I too found that mine will run 124gr factory ammo fine. Sometimes it won't lock the slide back on the last round though. I'm a righty and I put my slide racker on the right for a couple reasons. -I can take the slide off without removing the racker or Cmore. -I don't have to worry if I accidentally raise my thumb to high(although I shot about 1000rds with it on the left and didn't have an issue). -The biggest one for me was because the racker has no angle to it I found it hard to engage the safety quickly from the holster. -Last is the fact that although it's a fraction of a second more time consuming to rack it on the weak side, if I'm having to use the racker in a stage enough that it's going to add up I probably have bigger problems to worry about.
  13. Does anyone know of somewhere besides the cz shop where I may be able to find an extended left side safety lever for a Czechmate? They are out of stock. Thanks
  14. I'm running 124gr extreme HP 6.9gr autocomp 1.145 length Avg PF is 171 through my cz Czechmate.
  15. Well I have had it for a bit now and am currently running extreme 124hps at 1.145 if I recall correctly off the top of my head. 6.9gr of auto comp puts me at 171 PF. I did have to modify the feed ramp to run the extremes at the longer length when my big mags were fully loaded because of the bullet profile.
  16. One more nice ride bit of info. Daa emailed me back with the info and also stated that there will be a Czechmate insert coming out in a week or two.
  17. Never mind. Found this video from daa showing what to do.
  18. Hey guys. Just got my racer holster and only had a few mins to check it out before work but right away I wasn't exactly seeing where I need to sand/file it. Can anyone who has done this help me out with some pics? My number is 361-523-3624 if it would be easier to just shoot a text. Appreciate the help.
  19. Thanks again for all the replies. I will be going with a AA Racer.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to use a AA and had seen a comment about modifying them but could not find any details.
  21. Can't seem to find much info on what race holsters people use with the Czechmate. What race/open type holster do you run and how do you like it?
  22. I currently use blue bullets for my down loaded ammo. I recall someone saying that the coating didn't work well with hotter major loads. If that is not the case I may just continue to use them. What is the reasoning for reaming the barrel?
  23. I would also highly recommend Rifles Only in Kibgsville. If there was anywhere I was going to go spend my money for a class it would be with them.
  24. I should be picking up a CZ Czechmate this week and have some questions about open loads. I plan to run major loads when using the comp and red dot and am curious what bullet weight would be best. I will most likely run either Zeros or MG. I see pretty much everyone uses either 115 or 124 for major. My question is will there be any big benefit to using one over the other. My other question is powder, as with the bullets I see most people run AutoComp, HS-6, or CFE pistol. I have access to all of these and would like to know the same, is there any reason to use one vs the other.
