  1. I'm gearing up for three gunning and I'm really interested in feedback on any disadvantage I may endure by using my STI DVC Limited gun, (chambered in .40SW) for three gunning. Seems that a lot of people are running polymer guns, and I have zero interest in going back to those things.
  2. Are you running 1.130 through a 2011? I had some issues at Rio Salado yesterday and I think it was a length issue.
  3. Ahhhhh... Sarcasm... Makes sense now...
  4. Ahhhhh. I live in AZ, (our mags drop into both fine and course sand). I typically shoot my open gun and don't need to perform mag changes unless the stage calls for it. When I shoot my limited gun and especially single stack those mags are taken apart and brushed, (ARREDONDO mag brush ~$12) before they go pack into a pouch, much less a gun. Sounds like you've found the culprit!
  5. What are the specs of the ammo that you're running?? All too often I've heard the "it's not the ammo" comment. It meets all criteria of mags that need tuning. Welcome to the world drag racing with guns!! Soooo sweet yet if not tuned, soooo salty!
  6. Okay, I've gotta know.. Where on gods green earth do you call home? Judging from your robust and borderline offensive response with regard to barrel length, I'm going to assume that you're a GM level 3-gunner. -Melting in anticipation
  7. My old steel load was 3.2 of Clays with a 180...the first time I loaded up a mag of them and shot it, I couldn't stop laughing after I fired the first round... I shot a few at 4.2 gr of Autocomp. In my mind that was super minimum felt recoil for a .40 load. When I shot the first round of clays and realized that it was a hit I did the same thing.. Laughed so hard I got light headed..
  8. I settled in on 3.1 of Clays and a 180. If it wasn't for the hole next to the X on my target, I'd have checked for a squib.
  9. I'm on it. I'll be there. My new rifle will be here on Thursday. I'm a shotgun away from having all "3 guns". Looking forward to the multi gun circuit!
  10. Awesome! I'm stoked to get at it!
  11. From what I've read here over the past 8 years, or so, only a handful have managed to achieve that distinction. But, better to aim high ... Anyway, Welcome to the Forum. What firearms have you been shooting? Reloading, yet? Thanks very much. I shoot an STI DVC Limited, and an STI SteelMaster open gun competitively. I do reload, every chance I get!
  12. Thanks! I only compete with pistols. I'm dying to get into some 3-gun matches. I havent shot with any enthusiasts as of yet.. I've been trying to get to a match to get a better grasp on the concept, means, and methods.
  13. Thanks good sir. I frequent Rio Salado every tuesday night, Saturday, and Sunday.
  14. Thanks!! Mesa, eh.. I've been there
  15. I'm excited to try some of these shotgun powders.. ZZT is a serious proponent of the E3 and I'm gonna give that and clays a shot tomorrow, (no shortage of powder in Mesa, AZ). How does the hopper like the shotgun powders? I'm running a Dillon and like anyone concerned about blowing up a $3k gun, I'm skeptical about how the powder throws..
  16. This thread is awesome. I know you're mainly discussing major loads. However, I'm looking for some load data for a soft minor load for a .40 DVC LTD. I'm always hoping to acquire data for the powders I'm currently running, (TG and Autocomp for my open SteelMaster), but I'd love ANY feedback as I'm new to competing with a .40 SW..
  17. I frequent these forums so often for info from the multiple levels of shooters, figured I'd actually try my hand at a little contribution. Hope I can contribute half as much as I've learned!!
  18. Right on ZZT. I've never run the shotgun marketed powders.. Been tempted to run clays a few times. Do you have any reloading tables that shows this powder??
  19. Step one is determining exactly what spring # you're running now. Step two is buy a recoil spring calibration kit and step down slowly from your stock spring, (19 sounds super heavy). Step three is back to step one with your mainspring.. Mediocre advise at best.
  20. I'm looking for a good starting point for a light steel shooting load to run through a 5" 2011. Any and all help would be most appreciated. I'm sitting on 8 lbs of Autocomp and 1K 180Gr. Bayou TCG's.
