  1. You're correct Jack. That was a little slang.
  2. Iv'e been searching the forums for 9mm major load data for an open gun. Can anyone who's shooting Autocomp and 124's please share some recipes? If this is something already addressed, (99.9% sure it is) can someone please steer me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!
  3. Sarge, what Autocomp load are you running for 9 major behind a 124?
  4. 10-4. Thanks Tyler. I guess its to the lab to make up some bullets.
  5. My open gun will arrive to me on Thursday. I know that a "break in" period is a bit of a controversy. However, I'm wondering if I should go through the labor of building a bunch of major pf 9mm or maybe reduce the spring and shoot some factory stuff. ANY recommendations would be most appreciated.
  6. Nils Jonasson turned me onto these Berry's HHP 124's and I'm hooked. I JUST ordered another 2K yesterday. I have some Montana 130's and some Bayou 115's.. This will be a blast..
  7. That's funny, when I was buying HP-38 for my 3Gun 9mm loads last weekend the sales clerk, (everyone seems to be a competitor here in Arizona) was a huge proponent of HS-6. Are 115's the "standard" for major?? I run 124's typically..
  8. I should be a proud new owner by Thursday, (shipping).. Went with a CK Thunder series in 9mm and the RTS2 optic.. I'm done with the plastic slide ride CMore's.. I'd never even heard of CK Arms until i took my questions to the forum. Thanks again for all of the feedback! Now... 9mm major load data is next.. I'm running Autocomp in minor. Anyone run that powder for the big boy loads?
  9. Dan's guns look awesome. He's at a 3-5 month lead time. I think I'm going to get my hands on the CK and give it hell. I really don't have the time behind an open, (major) gun to know what parts and amenities I'd prefer over the next for a custom build anyway. Hi-Power, my Steel Master could be adjusted to shoot major I suppose. The gun was built for minor loads and with all of the lighting of the gun and the internals, I'm not sure how it'd hold up. I'm not interested in destroying a perfectly good gun and my wife gave me "the look" when I even mentioned selling it. Apparently she's fond of that pistol. LOL
  10. Sarge, I was just reading your older posts on this topic. I have 4 STI's. I sent an email to CK a few minutes ago. I'm all over that. Thanks all!
  11. I have 2 other race guns in 9mm. That only makes sense.. Thanks guys. I have an STI DVC LTD and DVC 3Gun... May only make sense to get the DVC Open..
  12. I've been shooting USPSA Open with an STI Steel Master. I'm shooting the gun well. However, shooting minor in open has officially caught up with my skill set. I'm going to buy another open gun this week with a 4K budget. I'm going to buy a factory built gun and once I settle into major, I'll have a custom gun built. I'm the meantime, any insight with regard to gun and 9mm/.38 S. Would be sooooooo appreciated!
  13. Put a few hundred through the DVC 3Gun after a match yesterday and was very impressed. Ran some HP-38 loads through it and some factory ammo too. This thing is awesome! I highly recommend this gun.
  14. My DVC Limited is chambered in .40 also. If you really want a chuckle, load some 180's behind 3.0 gr of Clays or E3 at 1.175. I loaded some up and literally started laughing at the absence of recoil. I use that load for steel and USPSA minor.
  15. I have about 3K rounds through my DVC Limited gun. I added an mag release extension, (to match my other race guns) and changed the recoil spring to a 11.5. Runs like a top. Of course you're going to experience more felt recoil. You're going to have to give up something when you shoot a gun with all the lightning in the gun. Faster cycling DVC vs. slower more comfy Edge.. Like the fella said above, all preference.I started with a soft minor load and worked my way up. I just bought the DVC 3 Gun 20 minutes ago. Should be in my hands by the weeks end. I'll follow up.
  16. I shot my local match last Tuesday and a fella that shoots an SVI .38SC was telling me about how he was gonna re-barrel the gun in 9mm.. I didn't pay much attention to him until he told me that the SVI mags don't require an insert like the STI guns do when going from SC to 9mm. I thought about this thread, chuckled, and said to myself, "mag tune"! LOL.. Glad you made out! Happy shooting.
  17. None of the major matches have a PF. There are a handful that still have PF in the rules for heavy divisions to keep them heavy. I didnt think so.. Thanks Caz
  18. Is there an actual PF requirement for 3gun? I wouldnt imagine that you're running seperate classes for minor/major, right?
  19. Yeah, I'am one of those USPSA shooters as well as a steel shooter. Mag changes are part of my life 3 days a week... Not sweating this at all. My sporting clays autoloader arrived today. After learning how to shoot it, (in my 25 years of shooting shotguns, ive never shot an auto, and I'm an NRA certified shotgun instructor... Scary huh!) I'll get into a decent 3-gun ready shotgun and ready for the battle.. Hell, I'm thinking I may shoot a single stack after all of these very helpful and insightful words! Thanks to all!!
  20. Thanks Eric. I was averaging 145 PF in 5 shot chrono sessions a few days ago with 180 gr bullets. I'm running 3.0 gr of Clays. Felt recoil is extremly minimal, (I laugh everytime I shoot, so light). Do you see much value in dropping down to a 165 gr bullet???
  21. My thoughts exactly.. Thank you!!
  22. Oh yeah.. Top end conversion is always an option. Honestly, I'm 35 with no kids and a good job. An additional STI is always a phone call away. I just wanted to know if anything aside from capacity would be an issue..
  23. Thats what I thought.. I was around the 135ish PF mark yesterday with a 3.0 gr of Clays load.. A few major rounds, and that a wrap... I love it!
