  1. Thanks. Anyone have a picture of this setup?
  2. Thanks. Is there some rule about not extending more than one inch past the barrel? I am not sure of the differences between tactical and limited.
  3. I am getting an 1187 ready for 3-Gun. Is a 3 or 4 round magazine extension better for tactical shotgun, and which is preferred for a 21 inch barrel? I am not sure about the difference between the tactical and limited class. I ordered a DMW Easy loader for my 1187, but I hear that it is NOT an ‘easy installer’. I also ordered a Barrel Seal Activator which I understand will allow me to use the slug barrel for lighter loads without drilling the ports.
  4. Does anyone have a recommendation for using River Valley Ordnance to prep and prime 223 cases for reloading?
  5. The product they make is a superior holster. The modular style is great for choosing what cant you wish. I am glad that I found one at Dillon. I tried first to buy directly and sent numerous communications then waited seven weeks without an answer before I pulled the plug. Credit card payments can always be reversed, but if you sent a check you may just have to wait. Custom leather holsters typically have some waiting for the product. I think Sidearmor is similar in that regard. If you can wait the product is worth it, and I wish them well.
  6. I just received this holster today from Dillon but in black. I think this is a terrific holster, very sturdy and adjustable for tension from very little to most secure. The cant adjustment allows for infinite adjustments within the range of motion. I look forward to training with it. Having said the above I have to add that the customer service from Sidearmor is non-existent. I waited for the product from them for seven weeks without an answer about shipping from them to my inquiries via phone, email or snail mail. I don't know what is happening with the company, but it is a shame to have such a superior product and poor management. I wanted the speedcut model rather than the standard model that Dillon had stocked, but I feel that I can cut back the kydex if I still find the need after training.
  7. I found one on Ebay that appears to be without the SERPA. Ebay link
  8. The ACT mags are spoken of unfavorably because of the cracking feed lips. Still they look good and work well in my Colt. I have bought some that are marked ACT and others marked Armscor. My plan is to use them until they crack and use the follower in the CMC power mags that I have, although that will render them 7 and 9 round mags. As I understand, the reason for the Devel follower moving forward after that last round is because of the shortened rear portion so as to accommodate the 8th round. I have this same problem so that the slide doesn't lock back and the follower jams against the slide stop so that the mag won't drop free. Is the follower in that 8round just like the 7 round? All that I have recently read in the quest for reliable mags point to the metalform or Colt or Checkmate 7 round mag with the dimple in the follower to be the Holy Grail for reliability. It appears that the desire for that extra 8th round is the problem even though there are many who swear by the Wilsons.
  9. These two seem to be the concensus favorites, but I am still trying to find out about the Sidearmor model.
  10. I have had two breakages in their sight where the elevation screw went flying. I sent the rear sight to Para and they replaced it. Should it happen again the Bomar will be what I will do. I wound up taking out the elevation springs and tightened the screw to the lowest setting. This works for me.
  11. I am still trying to gather information on the Sidearmor model and have not ruled out the Blade-Tech stingray. It evidently is the same holster as the DOH but with a different hanger to be at belt level. I hope to hook up with someone at a match to see one of these.
  12. I like it and find the size a bit smaller than the old style. It does everything that I need.
  13. The Blackhawk holster looks good if they are still available without the SERPA lock. I did learn that the SIDEARMOR model does come with a speed cut. So I think it is at the top of the list now. I will have a chance to see one that a friend has next week. It is incredible how much one learns by just slowing down a bit to gather info.
  14. Hey R/T, I read somewhere that the 5186 holster was tight. Can you get a passive adjustment with that so you don't have to tug too hard to get past the trigger guard detent? and Tolly... same question for you because I think the Stingray holster is the same as the DOH holster.
  15. One of the recommendations was for this Sidearmor model. Has anyone tried this one?
  16. Thanks for the reply. I have received some good recommendations, but they are often designed more for concealment with a close fit to the body. If I understand correctly the Safariland 56x is the only one that I can adjust for cant and space from the belt.
  17. I'm sure that's true. I would not expect the $15 holster to compare with a $60 on. Sounds like the Safariland kydex is tight like the Blade-Tech economy model. I could not get the pistol out of the Blade-Tech when on my belt.
  18. Thanks Eric, it's clear now. Anyone else with input? So far the Safariland 651 has the best report.
  19. I did not understand this comment. I guess the holster portion is the same although someone said the pistol rides higher with the belt rather than the paddle. It would appear the same to me. If you can get a quick release and the holster does not have to be really close to the belt I would expect this to be the answer. How does the 561 compare to the 5186?
  20. I have searched and read about holster posts until I thought I have to post to get an answer about the Safariland 561. I got a Blade-Tech (injection mold) holster for my 1911 and hated it. I am used to a CR Speed, but that won't help me in this division. So I'm reading a post from Brian who says TGO likes the Safariland 651. It seems to be adjustable for cant and distance from the belt. I thought that maybe there was a concensus for a holster at the Nationals. Front Sight has posted what types of equipment shooters use for matches, but I have never seen this detail. I did not like the close fit and straight vertical position of some of the others. People seem to like the Blade-Tech DOH, but it is maybe not an option for Single Stack. I know holsters have been beat to death, but I really don't want to get another one just to put it on Ebay.
  21. Has anyone tried these mags yet from Wolff?
  22. What performance does that barrel have with AE 55 gr. or XM193?

    The Murphy Twins

Two men were sitting next to each other at a bar. After a while, one guy looks at the other and says, "I can't help but think, from listening to you, that you're from Ireland " The other guy responds proudly, "Yes, that I am!" The first guy says, "So am I! And where about from Ireland might you be?" The other guy answers, "I'm from Dublin , I am." The first guy responds, "Sure and begorrah, and so am I! And what street did you live on in Dublin?" The other guy says, "A lovely little area it was, I lived on McCleary Street in the old central part of town." The first guy says, "Faith &it's a small world, so did I! So did I!! And to what school would you have been going?" The other guy answers, "Well now, I went to St. Mary's of course." The first guy gets really excited and says, "And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate?" The other guy answers, "Well, now, let's see, I graduated in 1964." The first guy exclaims, "The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same bar tonight. Can you believe it, I graduated from St. Mary's in 1964 my own self." About this time, Vicky walks into the bar, sits down, and orders a beer. Brian, the bartender, walks over to Vicky, shaking his head &mutters, "It's going to be a long night tonight!!!!" Vicky asks, "Why do you say that, Brian?" "The Murphy twins are drunk again."
  24. So if you have a Gator and the DPMS A2 rear sight what front sight works on the JP adjustable gas block? Alternately would a BUIS Arms 40L rear flip up sight work with the same front sight on the gas block?
