Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Sometimes there is wear on the plunger that changes the shape of it. Other times the thumb safety has worn where it rides over the plunger. Lastly maybe a different spring. All these things can be a factor after enough use.
  2. I prefer the 773 for P14 mags; they are a much better fit.

You can clean the threads and use Locktight to help keep it secure.
  4. Did you see any above normal signs of pressure? -- My old Hodgdon #25 load manual shows: 26" Barrel H335 - 55gr bullet Case unknown, Primer unknown Starting Load 25.0 - 3011 fps - 36,600 CUP Maximum Load 27.0 - 3281 fps - 48,200 CUP -- Hodgdon #27 load manual shows: 24" 1:12 Barrel H335 - 55gr bullet Case Winchester, Primer Winchester Starting Load 23.0 - 3018 fps - 40,800 CUP Maximum Load 25.3 - 3203 fps - 49,300 CUP I did not notice any signs of too much pressure. I decided to add another 0.2 grains to equal the 26.2 H335 that you had tested. I feel that your data with the HBAR barrel and my data with the Noveski 16 inch barrel allow me to settle on the 26.2 grains and not exceed 3100 fps. The results posted in the manual for a longer barrel do yield higher values, but it would appear that the value of the NATO ammunition in that barrel would yield even greater values.
  5. Sorry to take so long to get back to this since you were so gracious to put up all your data. Here is what I had today for comparison. Cartridge: 223 Rem Powder: Hodgdon H335 Primer: Federal #205 small rifle Case: Lake City 89 : Federal FC Case Length: 1.75 Bullet: 55gr Hornady FMJBT - w/canalure OAL: 2.20 (case mouth roughly center of canalure) Crimp: Very Light using Dillon Factory Crimp Die Firearm: AR-15 with CMT upper and Noveski barrel Barrel Length: 16" Barrel Details: Stainless Steel, 1 in 7 twist Comp: DNTC Chrono Dist: 10 ft Date: 11/24/2007 Time: 2:00 PM Temp: 61 Bar Pres: 29.91 Rel Hum: 32% Elevation: 397 ft Case: LC Pdr Wt: 26.0 - 3049 fps - 5 shot average Case: FC Pdr Wt: 26.0 - 3059 fps - 5 shot average
  6. Today was the first day I had to try out the Remy in a match... it ran flawlessly, thanks again Dave.
  7. This is a quote from another thread about a problem wit a Remington 1100. I had a similar problem with my 11-87. I tried the above fix and wound up taking off too much metal. I sent my receiver to Dave and he made the E-Z Loader work just right. There was also a problem with the bolt not staying locked back which he also remedied... STELLAR SERVICE, many thanks to Dave.
  8. What brass are you using? I thought that batch was Lake City, but when I can I will recheck.
  9. Thanks for the information. This is what I had found. .223 Calibers H335: 25.3 gr. Primer: Federal #205 Case Length: 1.75 OAL 2.22 Bullet: Hornady 55 gr. FMJBT - w/canalure Crimp: Very Light using Dillon Factory Crimp Die 16 in Noveski 1:7 twist barrel. = 2872 fps average. My results seem to have less velocity than you found. I changed to 25.5 gr. of H335 but have not rechecked chrono.
  10. Thanks for the reply. If I understand the pointed part needs to be modified but just how is unclear. I would expect to remove metal at the rear of the point and parallel to the angled area. <--- near the far right side of the image. Do you know if this part can be acquired for a 20ga. 1187? DMW site description makes no distinction for gauge. He does have this address posted: Davesmetalworks@yahoo.com
  11. If I understand the pointed part needs to be modified but just how much is unclear. I would expect to remove metal at the rear of the point and parallel to the angled area. <--- here?
  12. breid is right. You will need to file a little off of the back of the Easy Loader. There is a little wedge part on the back of it you will need to work on. Reangle it from the pointed end. This can be a pain in the , putting it back together then taking it apart again untill you get it right. If your not sure, you may need to get someone else to fit it for you. Thats what they mean when they say "May need to be fitted" in the instructions. At least you know what the problem is now. Good luck and let us know how it works out. Ronnie Thanks for the reply. If I understand the pointed part needs to be modified but just how is unclear. 13. I thought that this should have it's own thread. My 1187 with an EZ Loader does not lock back with the last round. I followed Ronnies diagnostics outlined below and see that the problem is the vibration from the bolt cycling must trip the Loader so that the bolt doesn't stay back. It will stay back when wedged with the pencil. So what must I do to remedy this?
  14. Mine had the same issue this weekend where the bolt would not stay locked back on an empty chamber. When the bolt is back, I did the butt drop test the vibration caused the bolt to move forward. When the pencil was wedged into the EZ Loader the bolt did not drop. Given all this, what is the fix?
  15. It has been a while since I could get to the range, but I wanted to update this thread. You all were right about being too close to the chronograph to get a true reading. First string of H335 25.2 gr. at 2.22 OAL with 55 gr. FMJBT Hornady. 1. 2879 fps 2. 2887 3. 2859 4. 3004 ________ Ave 2907 Second string of H335 25.3 gr. at 2.24 OAL with 55 gr. FMJBT Hornady. 1. 2880 2. 2856 3. 3035 _______ Ave 2923 I did find it curious that the last round was significantly faster. Is this due to a hotter barrel or just a difference in the case? I thought that each series used the same brand case IIRC.
