When I shoot the sights move up and to the right. If I change my grip a little and move my right hand further to the right the sights go more up and down. However the gun doesn't feel as solid with that grip and I can't shoot as accurately. I'm sure I'm not the only one suffering from recoil going up and to the right. Is there a common fix of just keep messing with my grip?

As long as the sights come back to where they started. Even using a red dot, it can go all over the place, as long as it comes back to where it started. Ideal is straight up and down, if one can get that to work.

What I have found is to take a single shot, stop and hold grip and see where everything stops. Is it the same as where it started? Grip is a big factor along with recoil spring, load and practice, practice, practice. Then after all that, it's double tap time. 🤪

Very cool puzzle. I gave up and had to look at the answer.

Ha, truthfully, I did too when I saw it a month ago.  🤔

#4 is irrelevant, so #2 has to wait on #1. If #1 can't answer, then #1 see's a white and black hat, So #2 calls out white.

But if #1 saw 2 black hats, he could call out White, since he see's both hats, but the colors he see's are different, so he is not sure.

4 criminals are caught and are to be punished. The Judge allows them to be freed if they can solve a puzzle. If they do not, they will be hung. They agreed.

The 4 criminals are lined up on some steps (shown in picture attached). They are all facing in the same direction. A wall separates the fourth man from the other three.

    So to summarize:-
Man 1 can see men 2 and 3.
Man 2 can see man 3.
Man 3 can see none of the others.
Man 4 can see none of the others.

The criminals are wearing hats. They are told that there are two white hats and two black hats. The men initially don't know what color hat they are wearing. They are told to shout out the color of the hat that they are wearing as soon as they know for certain what color it is.

They are not allowed to turn round or move.
They are not allowed to talk to each other.
They are not allowed to take their hats off.

Who is the first person to shout out and why?

Answer in white, highlight for results:

Man 3 and man 4 can’t see anyone.
Man 1 can see a white and a black hat so he knows that he has two possibilities: he either has a white or a black hat.
Man 2 can see that man 3 has a black hat. And he knows that it would be obvious to man 1 that he is wearing a white hat if he had a black hat. In that case, man 1 would have already shouted. Man 2 concluded that he is wearing a white hat because there were no other options.

  4. If you have reached an M, then you have conquered most of the challenge. COF strategy, rules, load, gun handling, etc... As long as you feel the "new gun" would work 99%, then everything else should just kick in. Of course I am sure you will put in the time to get the practice. Like you said,

That urge to drop the new gun and get back to the old one, might hold you back, especially at Mid-Season. I would change over if I had all my ducks in a row.

Just a guy who spends more time working that he should and less time shooting than he would like.

Welcome to the Sport. Just stay at it, it does get better. Get your gear in top shape. Practice all you can, sign up for USPSA (if that is your choice) and Practiscore. Check Youtube vids for tips. Good luck.

Had my first match this past weekend. Followed a lot of the advice given to first timers on the board here and didn't worry about time. Focused on safety and learning the rules. Had a great time and have been bitten by the bug.

Good for you, enjoy. Like minded people are in this Sport, easy to make friends. Get signed up for USPSA (if that applies) and Practiscore, if you have not done so already. Have fun and be safe.

  7. G17 for CO.

You have mags and parts. Easy to get parts if needed. Plus you be shooting Minor. I currently have a G17 for Open and one day it will turn into a CO with a Cmore RTS2. I'm old and yes, the eyes have lost out over the years and the dot is a plus.

I've encountered several squibs over time while ROing.  They were all a 'no-charge' squib except one.  That one squib that went 'bang' was actually factory ammo and it was evidentially a 'low-charge' squib but it was entirely noticeable that something wasn't right.  The gun actually cycled and chambered the next round but it was very noticeable that something wasn’t right and I stopped the guy.  I’d say the more dangerous squib is the ‘no-charge’ squib because you may or may not hear the ‘pop’.

Good RO'ing. With all the sounds going on and close stages nearby from other shooters, it can be very hard to hear a squib load. I had a round not go off, as I ejected the round, I looked over on the ground and saw it land and it still had the bullet in the case. Bad primer strike. So I continued.

As an RO, I hope if I every encounter what is a squib load, or deems to be a squib load, I'll stop the competitor. If no squib was found, then it's a Re-Shoot. If a squib was found, then the competitor is ordered to remedy the problem and no Re-Shoot, then score stage as seen. If you as the shooter encounter a squib load, don't try to fix it during the COF, that is a DQ.

5.7.2.1 Attempting to clear a suspected “squib” is specifically prohibited
under this provision whether the range officer has called stop or
not. Attempting to clear a squib during a course of fire is
considered unsafe gun handling and will result in a disqualification
    (see 10.5.20).

Here's a vid about squib loads.

12)A friend of mind covered the ejection port with a hand during unload and show clear.  Ejector hits the primer and detonates the round in his hand.

I have a friend that does the same and I have asked him "what if....?" He says, nah, it's all good. I can't change his mind but I wish he would stop placing his hand over the ejection port while loading/unloading. The same friend also had a squib during a match. Luckily he couldn't get a new round to load and stopped. Same friend loads for friend #2. Well guess what happened to friend #2's new Shadow 2? He had a squib and blew up his gun.

Me personally I would always apply the USPSA Rules, even if I get the "stink eye". Can't get it done by myself, I get backup. CRO, RM or/and another RO. It's about safety and if I see it, no matter the cost to me, I'm going to be polite and state the rules. It's tough, they are going on a hate fest and believe you are the "Range Nazi", but it has to be done and I really don't care. I rather their feelings get hurt and not them or someone else.

  10. I just went this route a few months ago. I got these clip-on for my current glasses. It's an option that allows you to still use your current glasses and for under $25. I picked up these and was able to cut them to fit my frame. Easy on and off and still keep my current glasses, which my eyes are used to. But if you can, get a pair made using the Nike Evo S 1061. Just a thought.

... in the almost two years from B to M, I shot a match every Saturday of the year. Every. In those years I took 3 classes. I bought a SIRT gun. I dry fired 3x a week and live fired 1x a week for those two years.

This is the best answer. And I'm jealous... 😊

I've only have about 22 Matches down so far, in 3 years and the Ranges are 2-4 hours away. I'm right in between 2 major Cities and if I am lucky, only get to 1 or 2 matches a month. 😧 About ready to move to a city that has more ranges that are closer together. I really wish I could get to a Match ever Saturday and for 2 years.

I drove solo to a Match last Saturday, 120 miles away. Had a blast, didn't place to well. Just wish I could be more active. At least I have a close Range, I can practice once a week. Dry fire daily.

Does anyone have problems running major PF in Glock aftermarket barrels?

SJC states drop-in fit barrels for major 9mm loads do not have the proper chamber, throating, and threads for an open gun. they say drop-in barrels don't have true fully supported chambers.  KKM website says they have "fully supported SAAMI spec match chambers"

is SJC info correct or out of date

Not sure about SJC. I run a G17 Open Major and use the KKM Barrels. Very accurate and good support. No Glock smile. Using a Carver mount, Carver Comp, power factor at 170. Everglades 124 jhp, power pistol and misc brass. I wish I could afford a Chaos but already had a G17 and was cheaper to get into the Sport, until I figure my upgrade.

I just finished my first USPSA match. I shot my Glock 19 in limited minor. It was my first match so my goal was to finish the match without dq, or penalty. I accomplished my goal and actually surprised myself. I placed 23 out of 37 overall and 9 out of 16 in my division. I struggled with stage planning and reload points. Any advice on training for those? By the way this is so addictive! I love it!

Welcome to the Sport, it's a blast, that's for sure . I've only had 22 Matches so far, in Open Div. I only get in 2 Matches a month, the Matches are many miles away 😞. Get to as many as you can, 4-5 times a Month.

Find spots on the Stage, where you can engage as many targets as possible. I look for a spot on the ground, edge of a wall, fault line gap, etc... that I need to hit, to engage as many targets as I can, with the least amount of movement. Have fun and stay at it. It does get better.

It is not uncommon for people who practice to nail their moving reloads and struggle with standing reloads (esp on classifiers). I believe this is probably because you are consciously thinking too much about the standing reload, whereas with the moving reload, you are just letting your subconscious do what you know how to do.

My standing reloads have become much more consistent since I stopped trying to force them. Most of my reload practice nowadays involves steve anderson's 'pause and effect' drill, where I try to get the mag up to the gun, looking at the magwell before a .7 second par time, and then on the beep, insert the mag, push the gun out and acquire the target all in one smooth motion. In a classifier reload, I just put seeing the magwell into my visualization, and let everything else happen subconsciously while I worry about watching the sights and gripping the gun.
