  1. Sure, but when it has the official USPSA logo plastered all over it...
  2. I know!! If only the local shops would have 124's for that..
  3. Have some 115gr Federal UMC which was 130-133pf through the chrono and had a 17.7 standard deviation(!!). I just finished putting a case of the 124gr UMC through the gun a few weeks ago without issue, Wally world should have some at $10.50 a box. Decisions....
  4. Hey guys, When do you introduce a new load for match duty? That is, how many rounds do you run through the gun before you're confident in it's performance?? Dilemma is what to use for the level II match this coming weekend. I really like 124/125gr in my 1911 Springfield RO. Just finished working up a load with 125gr blue bullet and 4.0gr of Titegroup. 1.14" OAL. Shot ~100 without issue at the range yesterday. Chrono test with 6 rounds yielded 1075, 1070, 1059, 1073, 1059, and 1051 for a power factor of 133-135 and 9.5 standard deviation. Accurate and sports a nice snappy recoil impulse. All I have is 115gr factory ammo on hand and the case of 124gr Federal on order won't arrive until next week. Local Walmart's have Winchester white box 124gr and Federal umc 124gr at decent prices. I'd rather not run into ammo issues at the match. Thought about loading another 300-400 up and running it through at the local range before the weekend(press is a 650 with bulletfeeder...) . What would you guys do?
  5. New 650, no loads yet. These are for my 9mm Springfield RO. Haven't loaded anything for this gun yet. That's what I'm planning, get the case gauge to at least figure out if they are within spec, then adjust to the gun from there.
  6. Pretty sure it's touching the shell plate. Need to shine a flashlight in there to really see though. I'm going to try plunking them in my glock/sig barrels to see if it's a problem unique to the springfield RO barrel, i.e. do I need a shorter OAL etc. Had a hard time getting a good read on the crimp, but was reading in the .376-.379 range. Reeaally need a case gauge which help to see if it's a ammo issue or specific barrel issue...
  7. Ok, the bushing showed up this afternoon and I got to loading. Next problem I ran into is really high rate of failure when plunking the ammo in my 9mm Barrel. Have it set up with a Lee full length sizer/deprime, seating 125gr blue bullets to 1.15" OAL and a light crimp with a Lee factory crimp die. Failure rate is 20-25% across 200 rounds (worked up several loads with titegroup). Thoughts on plunk failure? Need to get a hundo case gauge as using the barrel is tedious. I can try the Dillon sizing and crimp dies if you guys think it'll make difference. I did break the depriming pin on the Lee die right at the end of the session, so that station needs to be addressed anyhow. Edit: using mixed range brass, and the failures seem to affect all of them.
  8. I double checked and couldn't find it. It should be green, so kinda hard to miss. Spoke with Dillon via their chat feature on the website just now. They're going to send one out. I'll be eagerly watching for the deliveryman...
  9. It's a new press with just the 9mm conversion kit. Was really hoping to do some load testing this weekend.
  10. It appears you're right. I read all about the body bushing, but see that the arm bushing is discussed under the caliber conversion section. I don't have that bushing. Guess a call to dillon is in order.
  11. Getting my new 650 set up. All dies are set, casefeeder and bulletfeeder are ready to go but the damn arm that carries the case from the casefeed adapter to the arm bushing won't reliably feed the cases. The case insert slide is oriented in the correct direction and adjusted all the way in. If only it had just a few more millimeters adjustment that's all it would take to get the arm to pivot far enough and drop the next case... Help! Edit: Added picture to illustrate
  12. I hear the arguments on both sides.. AA kit with three mags and fiber optic sight comes to about $350. That’s the same as reloading perhaps 3500 rounds of 9mm. .22 is about $40-60/k depending on what you’re shooting these days. Do have a Dillon 650 and bullet feeder from last years blck Friday sale that I should probably take out of the boxes... For the sake of argument, what is a good dedicated .22 1911? Guessing one would need to spend $700 or more for a decent example?
  13. Have a trophy match in 45 and RO in 9mm; aside from caliber both guns are very similar in setup. Will put the .22 kit on the Trophy match and bring both to live fire practice sessions. What's the issue with 9mm frames anyhow?
  14. The trigger doesn’t change? That’s good to know. a google search suggested that AA was making the kits for Marvel custom. If that’s still the case, I’m not sure. The AA kit seems to be a competitive product from price and quality standpoint.
  15. Have a similar issue, my springfield RO thumb safety will select off without issue but is stiff when engaging it. Functions fine, but is annoying. Couldn't tell if it's the plunger interface or an internal fitting issue. Suppose I could take the plunger/spring out and see what the safety feels like?
  16. Hey guys, For those of you with .22lr conversion kits, are you finding them valuable as a training tool? .22 is once again plentiful and significantly cheaper than reloading 9mm/.45. Idea is to intersperse .22lr within live fire practice sessions. looking specifically at the Advantage Arms target kit which has a bomar style rear sight and can have the front swapped out for a fiber optic. They have a street price of ~$290 with mags in the $15 range. Anybody know if the trigger will still function/feel the same? Was hands on with a AA kit on a glock and the trigger felt different with the kit installed. Currently in C class and developing a training regimen; dryfire whenever I can in the house/backyard, airsoft 1911 for mock stages in the garage. Thinking about the utility of a .22 kit for those live fire practice sessions.
  17. That looks to be the case. I noticed that the leading edge of the follower was canted down relative to the others. Broke the mag down, on reassembly it seems to be working fine now. Thanks!
  18. I have one Dawson 9mm magazine that isn’t consistently going to slide lock when empty. Which aspect of the feed lips should I be looking at? The other 5 magazines are doing fine.
  19. Using your figures, it appears the frame rails are a good deal out of spec. 0.743" wide at the front and 0.746" at the rear. Right about 0.1" for the height of the frame ways. clackety-clack... Width of the GI slide is 0.760", and 0.756" for the Remington slide Edit: Just measured the rails on both my SA Trophy Match and 9mm Range Officer. Both have slides that are nice and tight. Both have rail widths of 0.748-0.749"
  20. Has anybody else tried this? Thinking of filing the mag catch itself instead. Which would be a better approach?
  21. I hear you on slide fit vs accuracy, but it has those teeny tiny sights on it that need to go away. In lieu of a new slide option one for sights is: https://dawsonprecision.com/copy-of-dawson-precision-springfield-1911-mil-spec-fixed-carry-sight-set-black-rear-black-front/ $80 plus the $50 staking tool; option two is to have the slide machined for a Bomar/Dawson setup. Option three is use the Remington slide as it fits noticeably better, with a new barrel and Novak sights.
  22. When getting a new virgin slide it will usually need fitting right? Reason I ask is that I have a Springfield GI that I'd like to build a new top end for. The factory slide is super loose, I also have new uninstalled slide from a Remington R1 that I picked up for cheap somewhere, and that one also fits loosely... If I order a new slide from Caspian or Fusion, etc. can I be confident that I'll need to fit it? Should probably check the rails on the GI to verify that they're within spec as well...
  23. I have an econo build with dedicated colt mag lower that has some bugs to work out. Shot it for the first time today. Colt mag lower Kaw valley bcg Faxon 16" barrel Elf AR9 trigger. Aero upper receiver The two main issues I encountered are fairly common so I'm hoping to get a few pointers. First is ejection issues, every couple of rounds the spent casing would get caught inside the upper and not eject. I think this is primarily because of the mil-spec Aero upper. Would a swap to a Taccom upper receiver help here? Rounds will eject fine via use of the charging handle. Issue number two is seating the colt metal form magazines on a closed bolt. This is a known issue, anybody find a solution?? Read in another thread where the poster had filed 0.01 to 0.015" off the upper portion of the magazine catch cutout on the magazine itself so that it would sit lower within the magwell when inserted. The loaded rounds are hitting the bottom of the bcg I think. I was thinking of filing the top of the magazine catch itself so I wouldn't have to modify all of the magazines, and since the mag catch is pretty cheap to experiment with... What has the peanut gallery found to work??
