  1. I had about a year and 20 some IDPA match's under my belt, when I shot my first uspsa match in march /16. using a glock 34 ( my idpa rig). Wow I was hooked, no cover, full mags, shoot it as you see it. Looking back, my first match was a disaster. Running past targets. An entire family of MIKES. "can you count classifier" turns out I couldn't. Didn't matter, as far as I was concerned. The clouds had parted and I was standing in the warm sunshine. The glock lasted 2 matches. Enter the new tanfoglio limited 40 with all the goodies. The cart, the progressive press, the perfect bullet, etc. etc. I Met so many ( of what I conceder) to be the greatest people. Shot a named "big match. Won some Good prizes. I shoot with 3 different clubs in 3 states, 3 weekends a month. My pistol handling and accuracy, improved by leaps and bounds. I claim to be " one with my gun" I know where my shot went when I pull the trigger. This is mainly from help and advise from the Jedi masters I shoot with. ( thanks to my Jedi masters) . And DRY_FIRE. I finished in top 5 most accurate in quite a few matches. My struggle was physical. No matter what I did, my PT was sub par. Turned out the physical issues were underlying medical ( cancer). Shot my last 2 matches in Dec. In treatment now, going well and expect/hope to start competing again late February , early march. So at the end of 9 months of USPSA shooting, I am qualified as a C class shooter. I have a gun, rig and load, I am completely comfortable with. Next year projections. I am comfortable to make B class, possibly A. Last year, my last couple match's I was on cruse control. No energy , just generally feeling lousy. I was just shooting it, not pushing it. so I would like to share a few observations with beginner shoots this is the MYTH BUSTERS list 1# Jedi Thomas ; is 300 lbs master class( this man is rolling thunder ) lesson / big guys are master too 2# Jedi Steven ; will smoke you and 50 other shooters with a STOCK glock and factory ammo. lesson / gear will NOT make you great 3# Master Stan ; push speed to the edge of out of control. lesson you will never advance classes if your comfortable. ( probably not saying this well) 4# master Stan Details : blowing past a target ( FTE or FTN ) Mikes. you as the shooter own that. Good stage execution and mental preparation are just as important and gear prep. "blow past a target" there goes your match. cant wait for march
  2. thx guys , brownells adjuster on the way
  3. p14 stainless this gun was shooting / running like a sewing machine. now every couple of rounds it won't go into battery by about 1/4 inch. tap the back and it will shoot a couple more and then same thing. seems to get worse as gun heats up. I have about 10 mags, same issue with different mags. cleaned , buffed , polished still the same. changed the recoil spring still the same. Any input would be appreciated ( note Winchester white box ammo) where to next ? link? barrel ?
  4. https://vimeo.com/191879811 You can see the 2 click shake on the up and bow stroke. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  5. Note this also made the primer cup / shaker mechanism work correctly. you now get two positive hard shakes on the up and down stroke.
  6. Here you fellas. 8x32 X2 inch screw 2 nuts . Hole drilled thru ,threaded nut on each side. Head of bolt holds and supports primer assembly in correct possision. Primer holder has small hole allowing the point of the orange handle pick to keep primers from falling during reload of tray. Hope this helps. It has been night and day difference. I was tearing this thing down at least once per hundred. I got a mechanics break stool. Now I am eye level with what is going on. You see the primers slide down. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  7. I purchased 2 loadmasters in a box of parts. I also had primer issues. I just ran 500 .40 without an issue. i run the auto case feeder ,but place the bullets by hand. THE LEE FIX .06 cents. under the protruding frame the auto feed slider rides on is an aluminum fin. it support the slide deck i drilled a small hole, tapped a 8-32 thread pitch and threaded a 2 inch bolt from home depot. The lower curve of the primer drop tube is now supported and tension can be adjusted, holding pocket is NOW kept square to the primer plunger. I will try to take some pictures. use 1200 grit sand paper and de-bur the tube /slide. I used dry spray graphite. Have not had to put the primer loader apart in about 2000 rounds now. was every 40-50 rounds. i will sent pix tomorrow.
  8. you will be challenged with shooting scenarios. IDPA is so much more than going to a range, standing and shooting at a target. You will: Shoot as you move, shoot safely, shoot from cover, drawing your gun, reloading. You will have the opportunity to learn how to handle these challenges. The idpa guys will help you. I know this sounds crazy but, go to a match, introduce you self ask questions. Skills ,tip and drills to shoot on the move, increase accuracy etc.etc will be shared with you as you progress in match's. If you find it exciting and take interest in your personal progression, it will help you to become a better shooter. Like anything else.......you get out what you put in. good luck cheers
  9. I have been patently waiting for one. shot a benefit match for the local sheriffs OCSO department @C.O.R.E shooting solutions ,baker fl. Walked away with two 50% certs Burris from the prize/ raffle table. That made the wait a little sweeter. Bottom line have a cert up for grabs. I will put it in classifieds tomorrow. message me for first dibs.
  10. What a difference a barrel and a week makes......so....put the kkm barrel in. shot idpa match Saturday. 50 shooters / 8th overall, first in my division. 6 points down for the match. solid "0"S. all head shot made. Compared to: 32nd last week out of 46 shooters with the stock barrel. The sight is still all the way to the right, but now shoots steady 2 inch groups @10yards. I figure the old barrel had 9000 rounds. at least now I can feel comfortable selling it to someone. Wont sell a bum gun. Going to CZ for IDPA to have the same feel as my tanfoglio uspsa rig.
  11. glock hosers check. had a M run a stage with it 5 inch groups. going to swap out for a kkm barrel I had to make a play open gun, interesting some of the leos I shoot with made the same statement. thank for the info
  12. I am primarily shooting uspsa ( tanfoglio limited) I have no issues. This gun will easily shoot 2 inch groups at 10 yards. average match, 100 a / 8 cs 1 or 2 mikes. Now the Glock I use for IDPA g34 gen4 zev trigger , gen3 spring set @11 lbs Dawson magwell. sights were so bad added adjustable rear and hiviz front. rear is adjusted all the way right just to get into the a zone. gun groups 6 in offhand @ ten yards. ???? been using Winchester white box 115 grain. load is my next focus. 20 yard head shots are a crap shoot at best. I am hoping 147 or 124 will pull the groups in. What are your experiences with heavier bullets in glock. If not for the fact, I am hard headed. The glock would be long gone and I would be shooting IDPA with a 9mm CZ platform. any advise is appreciated, thanks in advance. cheers
  13. going home for thanksgiving. I would like to treat my brother to his first uspsa match. nov 20th -27th. does anyone have a recondition ? south western pa ? west Virginia ?
  14. welcome kendive ! we have some good matches coming up to try those reloads on.
  15. 40 / 20 rounds with the Henning bases. I have never shot a 2011 so I have no benchmark to compare. But "my Italian Girl friend" is a shooter. I can tell you, gun, mags , belt and rig hardware can be had under 2k. Shot 2 match's with a glock 34 and switched to this. Real happy with the gun.
  16. I started with a glock 34, that is what I was using in idpa. came across a tanfoglio limited 40 with all the Henning and Cajon goodies installed. Problem is I have nothing to compare the tanfog to. never shot any of the 2011 `s What I can tell you about the tanfoglio. shoots and tracks great, a real pleasure to shoot. no FTF at all. from factory ammo to reloads, major / minor, super accurate. you can get into this gun, with mods and 6 good mags $1300 to $1800 . I just could not afford a 2011 platform. This gun shoots better than I ever will. quite sure it will serve me as far as I can go in this sport. currently looking for a 9mm idpa legal. Want to keep the same platform "feel" for idpa also.
  17. went to the range today. Testing if my weighted gloves while dry firing and cardio / eye exercises, show results. shot last Saturday in ala. shot A 64% trying to "speed it up" 93 A`s. Felt good, in complete control. ( tells me I had some speed left). surrounded by b and c shooters in the finial scoring. All in all felt real good. Oddly I think the "eye" thing helped the most. My eyes transitioned to the next target. From dry fire practice the front sight was just "there". so with that said, live fire today. drill #1 draw from holster, one shot on target "A" at 10 yds. 1.43 to 1.31. 60 rounds 57 a`s. ( I was at 1.91 last month) drill #2 2 targets touching at 10 yards / 6 feet apart / 2 targets touching @ 15 yards. draw at beep right to left. Next time left to right. 2 per, 8 rounds total. 3.67 to 3.95 // 192 rounds. 172 A`s . 13 c` 6 D`s 1M 1B all the b,c,d and m came on the 15 yard target. ( I practiced this in my yard with the weighted gloves) at first it was a struggle to get off 8 round of Dry fire in 4 second par time. drill #3 one round to head at the 10yd/15yd target array. right to left, Next left to right 20 sets / 80 rnds. 2.35 to 2.87 73 rounds scored 7 misses. once again the misses were on the 15yard targets. 2 bad primes and 2 rounds left over. 300 round live fire. Did lots of slow Mo draws and air gunning / dry fire. while shooting this session Showing a nice difference from one month ago. still unclassified, Shot 2 as of officially becoming a uspsa member. one @%72 ( lucky stage) and one at %51 last week. Shooting at a ( new to me) club Sunday, can`t wait. I probably should start a range diary and stop posting progress randomly.
  18. come on jack. some of the "lurking" and post reading were yours. thanks for the pat on the back, I think I have a long way to go catching you. but I would like to make the run to davenport and shoot with you one day.
  19. Just into my second year of practical shooting. first year all IDPA 2x a month from father day last year. 57 / problematic diabetes. Shot my first USPSA match in march and I am off to the races, completely addicted and love it. First match 34% glock 34. Just shot my tenth match *8/3. I built up my accuracy with a 1911 blow back bb gun, a home made plate rack I copied from this forum. changed guns ( tanfoglio limited 40) and correct belts and accessories. lurked here and applied training tips best I could to the bb gun setup I had to practices with. shot 6000 bbs yes 6000. accuracy went thru the roof 98 A`s 4 C`s 1 D But still shooting 50% matches. shot in the top 5 most accurate in 4 idpa match's in a row. So now we get to the "speed it up physical training part. STEP one. start 300 steps on the stair master ( warm up) 20 min on the elliptical. NOTE I realized my eyes were slow to transition from target to target. Put 2 red dot on the wall across the room. While on the elliptical I mentally transition from dot to dot and fire when focused. This has helped my target transition a lot. Step 2 dry fire. I have 3 1 inch pvc pipes laying on the ground. 7 yds. 12 yds. and 15 yds. from the closest target. I have placed 3 used targets from matches in about the yard. I purchased a pair of weighted gloves 3 lb weight is on the back of hand. fingers thumb and palm are exposed. I use these for my dry fire. I started at 4 second par time, draw on beep. engage all three targets 2 rounds each ( good sight pictures) and holster before par beep goes off. this quickly went to 3 seconds , now I am at 2 seconds. your swinging 6 pounds plus your gun. I try to stick with this for 30 min. ( sweat pouring in the Florida sun). mixing up different variations from each of the start positions. back to targets , step to right , step to left. retreat to next position. etc. last 5 min I take the gloves off, feels like the pistol is flying with the 6 pounds gone. so real result...shot last Saturday again 95A 3C 1D 1 M. but at a %65 16th. I still had speed left, completely in control. My gun automatically followed my eyes to the next target. so eye exercise combined with cardio, weighted gloves and dry fire, seems to work for me.
