  1. welcome, that's about where I am at. showed up at match, ( tomorrow will be my third) learned what the 1st of many things I need to work on to improve. practiced for 6 months of reload drills. watched tons of video. stance, grip , trigger control , sight picture. Slow motion holster to target drills . live fire hundreds of rounds , dry fire drills........ When that buzzer went off, it was like swimming in a soup that also made you stupid. When it was all over, everyone gave me pointers and I had a blast. bottom line is I agree with louu. I would have been farther ahead and had fun shooting matchs the 6 months I spent " getting ready" . Lesson #1 never moved and fired at same time. My current teaching regiment. purchased, blow back style bb 1911 replica. set up targets in yard and learning how to shoot and move art same time. use same pistol to "dry fire around the house while moving and using cover. ( I am currently limited to IDPA ) everything else is 1 hour plus away. let me know how you make out. cheers
  2. so I purchased the tanfoglio witness in co2 .177. made a small plate rack. set up a practice shoot in my back yard ( plates in 4 in and standard idpa paper targets, gallon paint can lids for "gongs") with in a short time I had the move and shoot at the same time monkey off my back. max 12 yards it has help tremendously already. ( of course till the real buzzer goes off). the gun is a good copy of a 1911. got extra mags, fits all my regular gear perfect. only getting 40 shots per tank with the blow back design and it is a pain to load bb`s. I feel comfortable it is and will continue to be a good tool to help me improve. next match this Saturday, we will see.
  3. absolutely love it. some nut at our club thought it was OK to shoot the plate rack with an AK. It was sooo much fun. he proceeded to put holes in the rest of the plates. that was 4 months ago. we are still waiting for replacement parts. Thanks to you it will be 177 air in the back yard thank you for sharing your design
  4. Shotgun side match.i never miss a chance to run sagia.
  5. Bring your sti to idpa . Love to check it out. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk
  6. I need to practice shooting on the move and thought a blowback bb gun, in my back yard.would be a good place to start. Can anyone recommend one? I am looking at the tanfoglio, any experience with the bb model?
  7. I'm going to start with a bb / airsoft and make up some run while shooting drills for the back yard. any preferences on the bb/airsoft gun?
  8. shot 2nd match today. the good and the bad. The good; changed to g34. stages required reloads. reloads went smooth and felt good. all the reload drills paid off. so now to the bad. I have no practice shooting while moving. range time has all been stance, grip, front sight, trigger control....repeat. I would move stop and fire, followed by the RO yelling "move".... run stop and shoot / reload was good. shoot while running was a disaster. I am not deterred at all. can anyone recommend some "shoot while moving drills"
  9. Kimber 1911 45 acp ( custom crimson II) . that is my least modified pistol. the pistol is not idpa legal as is. dragon fire ported barrel. in truth the stock Kimber barrel is more accurate.not sure what the score was. The guy keeping score said two of the three stages the "hits were 0" . so I don't think I came in last. odd thing to note, I shoot at my club at least once a week 300 to 500 rnds a week. make my own set and try to design and shoot a "new" drill every week. ex. double tap 8x8 steel @ 12yds , reload dbl tap cardboard @18yds repeat repeat.......run it backwards 18 the 12. my usual gun is g34 gen 4 with kkm barrel behind a Dawson comp. I run 4.8 grains of tight group and 124 gr fmj. comp seems to work well with that load. (not idpa legal). when that buzzer went off, despite all of my trigger time. I seemed to fall into a fog of slowww motion and stupidity. I am going to shoot Saturday again. I put the stock g34 barrel back in and loaded up some tight group 3.2 over 124 grain fmj. Been working on the "buzzer fog" thing in my head all week. Hope to show improvement. thanks for your responses. any and all input is greatly appreciated.
  10. Shot my first idpa match fathersday.
  11. Gen 4 glock 34 with beaver tail. Sorry tryed to add a pic of mine with the dawson comp and magwell. Said I didn't have enough posts to add a pic
  12. I had the exact issue with an older p14. It was extractor tension. Replaced oe with the wilson extractor. I also made the tension adjusting tool from the video. Took 3 tries, running great now.
