  1. I got going today... lubed, sized and recleaned a couple hundred new cases and loaded about 20 or so. Pretty easy so far just going slow and paying attention, and using the information given by everyone here... Thanks. I'll see how they perform tomorrow and load some more
  2. Most of the time I am only loading about 200 - 300 rounds for practice or a match. I usually have the press all primed and ready to go. Just hit some cases with one shot, toss them in the case feed and go... First 100 I get warmed up and focused and the next 100 or 2 I do for speed and have some fun with it. One time I had a buddy of mine who wanted to help so he became the automatic bullet feeder... pretty funny cause he had to be quick and I had to focus even more because when we finished he still wanted to have his fingers intact to shoot. we didn't time it but I remenber we did about 500 rounds in what felt like no time. Tried to convince my girlfriend how much fun it would be for her too but so far shes not buying it...
  3. XTreem 230gr RN 5 grains V V N320 Shooting out of my SW945 it has a nice feel and always makes PF
  4. I use a 650 with all but a bullet feeder... When I am loading .45 I can do 100 in less than 5 minutes, (after I have filled all the hoppers) but have yet to put a stop watch to it. I have an automatic primer tube filler and can really get cranking as long as all goes well and I have a good rhythm going. It takes me about 6 - 7 minutes to do 100 .38 super. Since everything we do in this sport is timed and classified, perhaps this is a way for all of us to make master or GM in some way... Whats your time?
  5. I see there are a few electric case trimmers. One of them trims, deburs and chamfers in one pass which sounds good to me. A future purchase I am sure. in the mean time you have all given me good info to get started. I'm sure after switching to loading .223 then going back to .38 super it will be even better than going from .38 super to .45...
  6. All very good information. I dropped my level from 30 to 12 and am about to get another test. Its something we all need to keep in mind and just be careful and aware. Its also something the "Anti gunners" will be using against us so the more we know the better...
  7. I have the small base die, but what about the carbide Dillon Die I bought? I will do just as J-Ho says and load a few and check them out. I am using Montana Gold 55gr for my blasting load out of my 16" Bushmaster which is set up for the run and gun matches we have. Max range is 100 yards but most shots are under 25. The Plan is 20 grains Reloader7. Win brass, Win Primers, MG 55gr Sierra MK 52 gr for my Heavy Barreled DPMS which I am just putting together... I'll make that another topic later
  8. Glad I asked the stupid question. Thank you for the advise everyone. This batch is my first and will be loading for the volume not MOA. I will be loading for MOA however this spring and summer. Right now I just want to get my feet wet and dive in.
  9. So... I can make all the adjustments of powder, OAL and crimp, then load the hopper of my 650 with clean new winchester brass, skip the sizing die and crank out 1000 rounds, shoot them, THEN have to go through all the case prep. Right?
  10. A few years ago my lead level was high, (30+ vs less than 9 as recommended) so I was given some tips to reduce my levels Clean my reloading area frequently Always wash my hands after reloading Move my tumbler out of my loading area Seperate brass from media outside Limit my indoor range shooting and when ido use lead free primers and plated bullets Run an air purifier in my loading room So... anyone else out there have any ideas
  11. Who else stands for our rights EVERY DAY? It may be a pain but we don't always have to give, but never waiver with our support. No fighting within the ranks
  12. Do I have to do all the same prep to new unprimed brass?
  13. Its a great tool that works well. When I first bought it, I didn't think that I would still have to run the cases through the size die, so it sat on my bench unused for a while. I was going to sell it but thought why not use it first. So glad I did! Not for sale, in fact, will order up a set of .40 dies when I build my limited gun.
  14. I load 5 grs N320 over 230 Gr Plated round nose. Can't remember what the PF is, but have been shooting it for years, no problems
  15. 124gr Montana gold 4.1grs VV-N320 Have not chrono'ed yet
  16. I have been using a Case Pro for my 38 Super now for the past season and have to say its worth the money. No more problems with cases and it makes 'em last longer as well. It adds a step, but after i am done they ALL fit in the case gauge. Anyone Else out there using one?
  17. I always smile when the low powder sensor goes off. Then top it off and go for that sound again. My feeling is the more often you have to fill it the better shooter you will be.
  18. I like having a spring behind the steel to take up the energy, or having the steel angled towards you causing the round to skip off it down and away.
