  1. These Tripp mags hold 9. Everything was sold under the pretense "fits the box", so I hope they fit. I'll know for sure in a week at Area 3.
  2. I didn't trim the factory basepads, I just bought the Dawson No-Gap basepads. The factory basepads fit flush with the bottom of the magwell, that's the main reason I went with the Dawson pads. They provide a little extra material to seat the mag with.
  3. The parts I changed out are as follows: Dawson Ice Magwell (No-Gap) VZ Alien Slim Grips Slim grip screw bushings Ed Brown Oversized Mag release EGW Tungsten FLGW Fiber front sight Wolff 12lb recoil spring Wolff 16lb main spring Everything else is stock. Setup like this it makes weight by 3/8 of an ounce according to my scale. Its close, hopefully I don't end up with a singlestack Open gun at Area 3. I ended up leaving the Series 80 components in mine. I polished all the surfaces that make contact with each other and the pins they rotate on. It was surprising how much that smoothed things out. They are a pain to put back together, but I also like the thought of blocking the firing pin.
  4. I picked up a Sig 1911 Stainless Traditional Match Elite this last December and I am very happy with it. Especially for just a shade over $900. I have run it as my single stack gun exclusively since I got it. I figure I have between 2500-3000 rounds through it. I have changed out a fair amount of stuff on the gun, I can post it all if you like. I'll leave it out now for fear of posting info you don't need or want. I've never had any gun related problems with feeding, but I polished up the ramp and chamber just because. The mags that came with it were worse than garbage. They wouldn't feed, wouldn't go into the gun when fully loaded (the pressure was enough to spread the feed lips too wide to enter the magwell). I bought some Tripp Research mags and they do everything a mag is supposed to do. As far as accuracy goes, it shoots better than I can. Not that that's an impressive feat. The gun has not been too picky when ammo is concerned. I have run a lot of different stuff through it and the only thing it refused to eat was factory Blazer Brass 165gr FMJ. Now I have settled on 165gr Blue Bullets over TiteGroup and we all get along just fine. For a simple summary; I would recommend one of these as a single stack major gun.
  5. I started taking Equate Vision Formula 50+ eye health vitamins about 2 months ago and thought my findings might be of interest some folks on this forum. Back Story: I'm 30 years old and I noticed my quality of vision declining over the past couple years. It was really bothering me, because I've always had really good vision (20/10). 2 years ago I had a DOT physical and found out my vision had deteriorated to somewhere between 20/15 and 20/20. (I know. Poor me, right) I also noticed that at the end of the day my eyes would be tired and couldn't focus near as well as when they were well rested. I couldn't focus on someone's facial features at 30 yards, it was just a flesh colored blur. My Findings: After about a week of taking these vitamins, I noticed my vision improving. It seemed like I could focus quicker, notice fine detail a farther distances and my eyes stopped getting tired at the end of the day. I wasn't sure if these were actual results or just a placebo effect. Then I had my next DOT physical. I expected horrible results, I'm a lineman and I had gotten 2 hours of sleep in the previous 42 hours due to power outages. My vision tested at 20/10! I hadn't been able to read the bottom line so easily since I was in high school! While I can't guarantee that these vitamins are the only factor for the improvement in my vision, they're the only thing that I can use to explain this phenomenon. At matches I find my focus switching from near to far targets faster and farther targets are in sharper focus. I hope this information helps someone. If anyone has any experience with this subject, I'd love to hear your thoughts. P.S. I searched this forum every way I could think of and couldn't find a similar thread. Hopefully I didn't copycat a extensive previous threads.
  6. That's pretty cool. It looks like the sidearm a TIE Fighter pilot would carry.
  7. I'm pretty new to this game. So, take this at face value. I run Safariland 775 triple mag pouches. I can carry 6 mags and not have to reach all the way to my spine on a big stage to get that last mag. After practicing, I can load pretty comfortably out of them. That being said, they're all I have used, so I might be a little biased. Best of luck!
