  1. I've seen discussion on the benefits of the 10mm cartridge but has anyone addressed its benefits for competition? Aside from longer range stages, does it carry any competitive weight over the 40S&W? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Been evaluating the same with my SA 1911. Found the trigger had to be glassy smooth to reset properly. It involved hours of mainspring evaluation and polishing the sides of the shoe. Finally located a burr in the frame (the culprit) that was preventing me from reaching my goal. Much better now.
  3. Might be an option if blacking out the rear and painting the front doesn't help. Forward his info please.
  4. Latest work involves fitting a Fusion adjustable trigger, button mag release, and stippled flat MSH. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Wha??? My Pro 1000 isn't THAT bad...and I'm a poor RN...so... I have Dillon envy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. welcome, looking to move to that local in the next few years. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Next to my 56 Blonde Strat this tele is my "go to". Yours have a "Wolfgang" feel, built a bass in the same ilk with a single humbucker at the bridge...sold long ago...regretted since Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Maybe when I sit down with my director and the topic of 2014 bonus is discussed... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm going in the opposite direction replacing my GI guiderod with a FLGR. Interested in your thoughts behind the change. Thanks
  10. Thanks, reminds me of the sights on a 686 I once had. Very good idea Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. As I've had a chance to put the SA through it's paces, I have to say I am amazed by the Brazos kit's crisp, consistent break. All I need now is an adjustable trigger to eliminate pre- and post travel, an extended mag release (or a longer thumb) to make reloads easier, and better sights for my aging eyes. Thanks to all for advising me to "run what I brung".
  12. Thanks, may look into a Wilson but the plug would help a lot. Message sent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Three hours of fitting an filing later, all but the FLGR (in need of a spring plug if anyone has one). Added a Brazos trigger kit, hi rise safety, VZ grips and polished the trigger. All in all a great addition Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Have a FLGR but don't have the open ended spring plug. $10 from Midway/Brownells but I'll trade a GI 1911 mag or a Bianchi leather dual mag pouch if some one has one in their parts box they're not using. Message me is you can help me out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Welcome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well done, sir! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Scored a Brazos trigger kit, STI trigger, and FLGR from a forum member, thanks Al! VZ Operator Magwell grips on the way, need to find a better rear sight (preferably) adjustable and hi rise beaver tail that'll match a MilSpec SA.. Black Scorpion belt is on the way to go with my eAMP mag pouches and Blackhawk holster. Looking forward to feeling prepared for practice night at WNYPPL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I have a cmd for daily carry and have had no issues. Comfortable, concealable with a hi rise belt slide or Alien Gear IWB hybrid. Sure, triiger could be better but its controllable and still better than my FS SA. Only gripe is the mags as mentioned in several posts across the Enosphere. Using CM's and have had 0 problems.
  19. The big c/o I have with my SA is the mag release. I have to adjust my grip to actuate it, unlike my SR1911 which is easily reached with the right thumb. Though in retrospect perhaps freeing the mag with the left thumb on the way to a fresh mag might be a better tactic
  20. Aside from reliable mags/rig, appropriate power factor ammo, mental conditioning, and pratice, practice, practice; what advice would those of you who've "been there, done that" provide?
  21. Thanks all. Planning on SS Major. Current mods are modest mag well ambi safety and ext slide release. Planned mods will be Brazos Trigger, VZ Aztec Grips, and Dawson sight set all in all between $300 & 400 excluding the necessary smithing. OR Have a lead on a Ruger SR1911 locally with Novak Sights, VZ G10 Grips and a Serpa holster for $575. CMD version is my CCW so quite comfortable with operations. AND Sell the SA to fund mods
  22. Selling a PT145 I had laying around to fund either. Goal is to have a reliable, accurate gun for SS. Trigger work and sights for the SA or start with a Spartan V. Thoughts, impressions, chiding welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
