  1. I think that for anyone looking to purchase a gun everyone here has narrowed it down to the elite ones. I personally love the glock, but the STI is an awesome gun. If you have a good gunsmith and find the right ammo, you should be set. As far as which gun to select, it's all a matter of tailoring everything to fit your needs.
  2. Right now I have a pair of Asolo FSN 95 Gore-Tex Hiking Boot. The grip is alright, the durability is excellent, and they hold up good in water, but I find them a little to warm in the summer for my feet. I am going to try the Merrell Chameleon II Ventilator shoe. I don't have any problems with my ankles and I am looking for a comfortable practical shoe. http://www.altrec.com/shop/detail/19016/ LE and military can order the Oakley boot in desert tan and usually get GSA pricing. Maybe Phil Strader can order us all a pair?
  3. I am working overseas and have a Glock 17. I have plenty of time for dry firing drills and limited time for range time and I'd like to stay current during my off season. I am looking for new input for core drills to keep my skills and training intensity up. I'd like to hear what is practiced religiously.
  4. Everyone sounds spot on. I am always trying to be aware of each and every subtle detail in my grip pressure, trigger pull, the way my wrist feels and so on. I think it's more important to be aware of what's going on rather then asking why it's going on.
  5. I agree if you want to become truly proficient with your weapon system you should practice the way you intend to compete. The answer to the recoil mangement lies in the grip and ensuring that the F/S follows the same path each time rather than figuring out how to have less muzzle flip.
  6. You really need to focus on the quality of training in order to build consistency, speed is a bi-product and can not be forced without sacrificing consistency. Besides ballistic masturbation will put hair on your hands.
  7. That's a hard one if you can't live fire often. Try strength exercises: using a 5 lbs weight and hold out as if you had the gun. 3xs, 1 min each, 30 sec recovery. (Increase as neccesary) Regardles if you use a tight or < firm grip on the pistol, try strengthening your grip by using a grip strengthener, exercise both hands. You really do need to spend quality time on the range. Try to really disect your lower and upper shooting platform. Sometimes, the technique may not feel comfortable until you are more familiar with it.
  8. Dry firing presentation I think there is an important step to the dryfire presentation that is often overlooked and falls right between IDing your target and bringing the gun to target. Once you ID your target the Sight Picture begins by mentally visualizing your sights on target. Mentally focusing to the point that you can clearly picture your sights on the target as your hand is delivering the gun to target and then the actual sights replace the mental image.
