  1. so nobody makes like black nitride ones?
  2. I am curious if folks use an FPB gun for dryfire. obviously the TRS is going to snap at about the same rate as it does on my shadows, but I was curious what added precautions you guys take to make sure you don't ruin your FPRP. I dryfire 5-6 days a week, would it be able to to stand it? how often do you change your FPRP? Basically, I'm enamored with the Stainless 75B and I have a current 75B. I don't have an IPSC legal gun now, and clearly I need one, because what if I ever decide to shoot IPSC? So I'm thinking about building up one and making my polycoat 75B a practice gun and fooling around like that for a while. So the question stands, any dry fire gurus use the FPB guns?
  3. I think the new classifier is appropriate. There are a lot of "under classified" guys in IDPA and I think this would line up more on match performance than the old one. A typical IDPA COF is pretty easy, usually, and this does a good job of hammering on the most commonly used skills.
  4. http://hsbullets.com/products/9mm-125gr-rn-356-diameter-3500-count Seems like a pretty good deal, looks like a pretty good profile. I don't know of anybody who shoots them so I am seeing if any of you guys are out there. What does it plunk/spin at, particularly in CZ's if anybody's out there with em. Acceptable quality on the level with Bayou, Acme, SNS, etc?
  5. The more I think about the rules and how they should change them, the more I think that GADPA got it right when they took their ball and went home in 2015. They have a gamer vest division (that allows dots and WMLs), they have a USPSA division (basically limited), single stack and open. Time plus scoring (albeit weird, somewhat), major/minor in all divisions, cover lines. The liberalized Tac load is a good thing, but going the next step and dropping partially spent mags should be there IMO.
  6. Anyone aware of some good nitrided or other coated grip screws that won't rust? My carry CZ's have a pretty bad time with grip screw rusting with OEM screws.
  7. Take a bunch of photos holding one in each hand and one hanging from a lanyard around your neck to taunt your American friends Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The most flexible gun that you could go hog wild with, in my opinion, would be a Tanfo Limited Pro in 40 S&W. I assume you reload, but you could shoot IDPA with minor loads in ESP or SSP, you could shoot Production with minor loads in USPSA, or you could go cocked and locked and shoot 40 major in limited. If 9mm is your huckleberry, A CZ SP01 Shadow is great, a TS is great, but I would look at Tanfo Limited as well. If you are reloading I like 40 S&W.
  9. i was curious if perhaps one would allow you to spring a gun lighter than the other. I'm not somebody who chases low DA, but I was curious if one was a clear option. I saw a thread on the Tanfo page of a guy testing different trigger group pieces with the pencil test to see how hard they hit vs. trigger pull weight.
  10. Good luck out there. Let us know how it goes! you seem the type who would get a lot out of analyzing your match video. let a buddy film your runs for you.

You don't get one Tyler. You don't need a cheater gun.
  12. I'll check it out and get back. I was planning on doing both. I probably will do the bushing before the barrel.
  13. That lower picture is pretty much exactly what my 2 broken FPRPs looked like, big half moon shapped bite taken out of them. On one it binded the pin and made it sieze up, on the other it didn't and the pin started LAUNCHING pencils on the pencil test. Both looked like that.
  14. So a very highly competitive on a national level GM ( I won’t kill you with suspense, it’s Sal Luna) has moved to Atlanta and now shoots monthlies with us. Which is awesome, so I can see how I’m doing somewhat on a national level with each club match, so that’s pretty boss. The stage names this match were all election themed for the most part, named by a SAfrican ex-pat so take them with a grain of salt. Weather was wonderful Georgia Fall day. The smoke from the wild fires wasn’t bothering us any, for whatever reason, warmed up a bit around mid day. Great day being outside. I had an awesome squad with an Open M, 2 PRD M’s who I like to chase, a couple PRD A’s who I like to chase, then filled out with some PRD B’s, and a guy I used to run against in IDPA shooting SS. Finished 4th /20 in PRD (88%), 8th / 58 overall. The match was challenging. 3 “Standards” type stages, a steel speed stage, and 2 hose fest speed shoots with enough rope there to hang yourself. 1st B PRD netted me $15 off my next match up there, so awesome. See you boys in January. Stage 5 Partial People Eaters So this was my first fixed time classifier. Pro Tip that nobody told me until after I shot – use ALL of the time they give you, don’t try to beat the clock, try to use every ounce of time. You incur per shot penalties beyond 4.3 seconds on each string (4 seconds being par time) – so don’t run over. Nobody explained to me how it was scored (FYI – it’s the % of total points), so it behooves you to shoot points. I was trying to pick up time on it thinking yes more hit factor! Which was a disaster and netted me a cool 54% classifier. Not climbing out of B class today. Ended up giving away a LOT of match points on this stage (41). Take aways – don’t get rattled with a fixed time, get your alphas. And work on SHO/WHO in live fire (said every USPSA shooter ever). Stage 6 Balls of …. Total steel stage. Unloaded start. Poppers went well. Reload went well. Plate rack started going well, until it didn’t, then I started panicking and hung up 3 mikes in a hurry. Ended up leaving a plate up rather than going forward with the standing reload, not sure I made the right call there. Probably would have been the right call on other stages, was not the right call on steel-a-palooza. So my raw time leaving one up with a total of 4 mikes was 14.64, Mr. Champ (ok, it’s Sal Luna, current USA region IPSC champ) cleaned it in 10.51. I need to work on steel. Really that’s a confidence in shot calling thing, which I’m already working on. The Champ actually bested KC on this stage as well. An Open GM ultimately won the stage. I noticed on video I'm searching for mags, I'm considering if bullets out might not be a better choice. Things to consider when buying my proper USPSA belt rig. Stage 1 - Naked First Lady Looking at the video of this, I’m really spending a lot more time than is probably necessary on the second position and the last position. Each array had 4 targets, 2 of which were partials. First position is 2 HC partials/2 open, last position was 1 NS partial, 3 HC partials. I posted up too hard in the second position. I didn’t transition as fast as I should have on the move for the 3rd array, which got me reloading a little late rolling into last position. A little bit of over aiming going on here for sure as well. I need to dryfire some hoser partials on the move, and I need to get more comfortable at 8-10 yard partials. I was 88% of the champ, he had 6 more points and was 1.5 seconds faster. Stage 2 – Bad Black Stuff So there were two shooting boxes, 8 partial targets with a couple pieces of steel hard cover obscuring some targets from either box. Procedure was engage 4 targets, mandatory reload moving to the next box, engage 4 targets. This was Virginia Count (meaning only 16 shots could be fired, no make ups). The champ had 2 mikes on this stage, so I got the stage win in production. Needed to shave about a second off my raw time here. Again – practice partials at 10 yards to see what I can get away with. Stage 3 - Political ports Seated Start, gun starts on table, ALL MAGAZINES start on table, 19 classic targets. That’s a 38 round count stage for those tuning in at home. There were 5 port holes to shoot from, with 4 targets apiece, so that’s 4 reloads. That means I have to stand up and figure out how to manage my ammo. Some folks stowed 4 magazines (going to the table a total of 3 times) and some folks decided to reload off the table for the first reload. I took this approach. I also decided all the targets were at 3-5 yards, so why not full ricky bobby and see how it works out? End result – I had one of the fastest raw times (half second off an M) and SIXTEEN charlies. If I was shooting major in limited, it’d have been a solid run. As it wasn’t, I ended up at 90%. Sure had fun though, lol. Stage 4 – Election Blues So at this one club, with this one MD, this bay always nets us a super challenging long range stage. Today was no exception. There was basically a start box, then 4 yards or so in front of that was another pair of boxes and the barricades cut off your view on the targets down range. 4 targets were across the back 30 yards down range, which extended out further. I put up a pretty quick time on it at about 31 seconds, the champ bested me by a solid 3.5 seconds. I nearly had better points them him, excepting that pesky mike. I am proud of myself on one of the long targets I called a bad shot high and made it up immediately with a close Charlie. Turns out the first one was also a close Charlie barely on paper, about an inch down from the top of the target near the alpha line. Either way I was happy to have called that shot, sad that I didn’t register the bad trigger press I was aware of at the time, but netted me a mike. As it stands, the raw speed buoyed me and I ended up 3rd in PRD on the stage at 82%. I know where I probably have 2 seconds of time lost – on the Big take aways moving forward - Work on shooting partials at 8-12 yards at a brisk pace. - Continue to work on match reloads – probably cost me 4-5 seconds on the match. - Work on calling shots - Work a little on hosing on the move (just a little) - SHO/WHO live fire (just a little) This was the debut of my match gun – an AccuShadow. As much as I dog on the accu-bushing being unnecessary – it does provide a bit of confidence knowing your pistol can mechanically hit anything they throw at you… it did help with my confidence. For sure. I was really surprised at myself saying that. Gun ran like a sewing machine.
  15. What specifically am I looking for? In other news, the barrel is pretty dirty, but I've not experienced a decrease in accuracy due to a dirty barrel from it before... it's probably been 3-5k rounds since I last cleaned the bore.
  16. I picked up an unknown round count old Shadow. The guy before me probably low balled me and said he had 7k rounds through it so lets call that 12-15k. I have 9k through it. The guy before him had it for 3 years - lets assume he shot it for 2 years, then lost interest and sold it for a total guess is 15k rounds. so it probably has 25k-40k rounds. I'm pretty sure accuracy is degrading. Running drills with it as my practice gun my accuracy is sub standard from what it was 3-4 months ago. With my accushadow match gun with the same grips (different sights), my accuracy is considerably better. My carry gun (75B with springs, OEM plastic grips) I was doing about the same as my accushadow. I think I'm to a point where I think the barrel needs replacing. Does that sound appropriate? In my mind the barrel would last longer than that but I've never really run the count up on a handgun before quite like that.
  17. 11/11/16 Practice log update. Match tomorrow. As it sits I satisfied my weekly dryfire goal (5x a week for 25 minutes on the clock, not including set up/tear down), I also exceed my live fire practice because I got a new match gun so I was eager to get familiar with it and test it with my ammo. Dry fire this month was mostly focused on vision, observing the relationship on my sights on the target. In transition popping my eyes to the location on the target I wish to hit prior to the sights showing up. Having the discipline to observe the sights on the target while the gun is firing before moving off. The theory being (obviously) to remove hesitation and increase accuracy. We'll see. Very stout squad tomorrow, so looking forward to the fellowship and competition (2 very high M's in production, a couple A's, lots of B's, an Open M, Open B).
  18. I shattered one of those pretty quick with dry fire, I bought into the hype the aftermarket parts are "better". Now I've shattered one of those too, admittedly installed incorrectly.
  19. Forgive me because this is getting lost in the weeds, but thinking about it the more mass of the wider hammer would transfer more energy to the firing pin than the less massive narrow comp hammer. That said I mostly see the thinner comp hammers on recent shadows. Anyone played with the difference in the two hammers?

Will this be a drop in part for existing shadows/75B's? Pretty please say so. Also will the slide stop /barrel result in a longer life for the part?
  21. Question: Will this: http://czcustom.com/cz75b-solid-firing-pin-retaining-pin.html work in a gun that has one of these installed: https://cajungunworks.com/product/srs-2-short-reset-system-2/ Long story short, I installed my FPRP from the SRS2 kit upside down and wouldn't ya know it? I managed to shatter the FPRP, didn't lead to a "will not fire" malfunction, but got me strongly considering the merits of the CZC solid offering. Anyone mixed the two (CGW FP w/ CZC FPRP?) before? Any concerns about why a solid pin WOULDN't be a good idea recognizing that the factory roll pin is less than ideal as well?
  22. Most competition shooters keep the guns oiled but clean them like once a month to a few times a year, not every time. I probably clean the practice gun once a quarter. Most folks have a round count of 10K a year on past 50K Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. That magwell appears for sale on the Springer Precision site for $75.
  24. It will be extra dirty and may not cycle the action. Load up a couple test rounds. it won't hurt anything but you may get pretty bad SD due to powder sloshing around in the case.
  25. Unless you're shooting a 9mm 1911, being that long doesn't "get" you anything other than a slightly higher powder bill. Measure the width of your ejection port, keep it shorter than that and avoid annoying Unload and Show Clears.
