  1. I just looked at the combined overall results. jeeez! 637 shooters run through over the course of 5 days! That seems like a well oiled machine.
  2. Thank you sir! Yeah, this is ancient history now, but for USPSA, I used to shoot Limited minor with a Beretta 92. The 20 round MecGar mags made it lots of fun.
  3. Thank you! But really there is nothing stopping you from say shooting a 9mm single stack 1911 drawn from a barely there CR Speed type limited/open holster for the Steel Challenge Limited Division? I mean if that’s all you have at the time.... or if you a .40 call double stacked 2011, shooting .40 seems kinda overkill for SC.
  4. And they are showing what the world record holders are. So I gotta ask..... is “SS” single stack 1911’s then? What’s the difference between that and shooting Limited? Holster design/placement?
  5. My guess.... it’s cheaper. No brass to pick up either. If you are a parent, and you have a child or three who want to shoot SC, buying a brick of .22LR is also way more convenient than having to crank the Dillon’s handle for an hour or two.
  6. Yep! I took the USPSA RO class back in the fall of 2007. Our instructor for that was also an Area Director. He was hinting that USPSA HQ had bought another shooting organization. At that time, the only thing that popped into my head was “USPSA bought IDPA???” I guess it was some time in 2008 that it was made public that it was the Steel Challenge that had been bought. My first thought was “Ahhh, crap! The first thing that will happen is classifications and activity fees.” Just me personally, I am anti-classification or anti-handicapping. Just shoot, post the final match results in both overall/combined and then by division. That’s it. Fastest to slowest, that’s all you need.
  7. I know.... beggars can’t be choosers, buttttt.... back when the big shoot was in Piru, CA , didn’t they have these big board timer displays that showed the final time for a string? Those would be nice to show on camera.
  8. Yeah, I noticed that too. I did get to see an iron sighted revolver guy have to do a reload during a Smoke and Hope string. Ouch! That’s gotta hurt! Anywhoooo.... it just got to the point where if I saw some shooter walking up to the line and setting a “long gun” bag on the table, I went surfing elsewhere on the internet for a minute or two.
  9. Nobody started a thread on the livestream yet? https://uspsa.live/?fbclid=IwAR0rTI71-I5_OZDeo9Y7CmpBhrAygeWerEreY0DnQhKD-vWnsSpZrjV6q2g
  10. Technically it is 9.3X39. My interest in it started when I saw this Larry Vickers video : I was hoping it would catch on more, but with covid and the ammo scarcity I am thinking it won’t be taking off any time soon.
  11. You too, thanks! Trig/geometry is kinda my thing, so the math shouldn’t be an issue.
  12. Over 15 years ago, a local “gunsmith” milled a cross dovetail on the top of my Colt 1911’s slide for a new fiber optic front sight. Well, that FOFS got launched a few months ago during a practice session. How do I go about measuring the empty dovetail slot to figure out which replacement to buy? This particular “gunsmith” has been dead for a year or two. But I want to say it might have been a “Kimber cut” , whatever that is??? TIA
  13. The guy at Graf’s in St. Charles, MO talked me into an 8 pounder of AA9. I had to dig through a few reloading manuals to find a recipe of AA9 with 180's, but I am still glad to see somebody else mention it in this thread. Some of you physicists help me out here.... KE is one half m v squared, right? And PE is m times g times h, right? KE = PE where the m’s cancel each other out, right? Me? Personally, I would rather see power factor used, which is basically momentum, right? The factory S&B 180gr ammo I was shooting PF’ed at about 196. which is about what WWB .45ACP PF’s at. The only thing that impressed me that day at the chronograph was how far my 10mm was throwing the empties.
  14. Thank you! I will have to check those out.
  15. Thanks Twinkie! back when I was shooting Limited Minor with a 92 Brig Inox and MecGar 20 round magazines, those same mags would hold 15 rounds of .40S&W. I am ASSuming the same 8 shots per array/port rule still applies today??? If so, starting out with 15+1 rounds of .40 doesn’t really gain you much. ASSuming you didn’t miss or did any make up shots, you would be doing a slide lock reload after the second array. (shrugs shoulders)
  16. 1. How many .40 cal rounds can you fit in the gun? 2. Will a M9A3 grip fit on that to give it the typical curved backstrap of a Beretta 92FS? That looks nice. You certainly caught my interest.
  17. I know this thread is mire lights mounted to the underside of pistols.... but just an FYI.... streamlight makes both handheld and AR15 forearm (Picatinny) lights that are dual fuel. they will take a battery that is called an 18650. It has a little micro USB port which makes it rechargeable. There are also rechargeable CR123’s out there also.
  18. At one point the lawyer in the bottom left corner can’t believe what he is seeing, so he puts his glasses on :
  19. Awesome! Thank you sir! I asked Santa for a new timer for Christmas, so we’ll see.
  20. Hi all! I am just wondering if there are stage or drill templates in the Practiscore Log App so you can track your progress. For example, if you were practicing the Steel Challenge stage Smoke and Hope, and you had an AMG timer, would it automatically save your times, your draw to the first target, then the transition to the second target, so on and so forth, until you hit the stop plate? Or another example, if you shot the El Prez classifier, would it like know after the 6th shot that you are doing a magazine reload? Then later on you could review your times and figure out what you need to work on (i.e. the turn and draw, or the mag reload). TIA
