Any of those companies offer good options. Also changing your basepads will assist in getting to 20-21 round capacity.

Another option for complete mags is:

I've got a set of mbx mags for my DVC open gun and they've been flawless for me. Expensive, but need zero tweaking for maximum capacity or reliability.

  2. I think it's more of a magazine issue than the gun. And easily remedied. There are also other follower options available that can increase capacity (to 20-21 rounds) and guarantee no slide lock. Probably worth looking at if it's a gun for USPSA limited.

  3. We all have that friend, let's call him Steve, that spends more time messing around with different bullets, and powders, and spring weights, and holster positions, and different length magazines, and everything else, instead of just practicing. There is nothing wrong with liking to try different gear and playing with that. Nothing at all. But, realize that by doing that you are not going to get any better. If your motivation is to win and get gooder, then choose one and shoot.

I have shot both WAC and HS-6. I have shot 115 and 124s. I settled on HS-6 and 115s, and don't change it anymore, nor do I have any intentions to. I would use HS-6 regardless of whether I was planning to shoot 115 or 124s, whether my gun had holes or not, whether it was a full size or shorty or anything else. It works, and I have no reason to change.

In principle I agree with the argument that cheaper = shooting more, and that is the best way to get better. But making that argument about the difference in powder cost? Get out of here. The difference between shooting CFE (the same as WAC, but a couple dollars cheaper for some reason) with 124s and HS-6 with 124s is half  of a cent. If you shoot "actual" WAC then the difference is only 4 tenths of a cent. The cost difference between 115s and 124s is much more significant, if you are a hardcore bean counter.

I agree. It's not an amount of any significance.. but it's an easy way to make a decision. WAC cheaper and still quality, go with that. Then get shooting.

I personally load WAC. I also have a decent quantity of HS-6. Eventually I'll try that, but probably not till I exhaust my WAC. I really am not concerned with possible different recoil impulse or comp behavior at this point. I'm fairly new to open so I'm learning to shoot the gun before worrying about minutia.

  4. Just had this same issue and called Leupold. They directed me to JPs website. They sell 1 degree reversible shims that appear to have the same footprint of the DP. And the Leupold guy is who sent me there in the first place. I ordered some, but they're not in yet. I'll report back once I give them a try. It appears to be the fix I was looking for

  6. Very cheap. The ones I have swell when fully loaded making them almost impossible to seat, and absolutely don't drop free. Also in the very limited use they've seen one of the followers has broken into 2 pieces. I'd guess they'll work for some random range drills, but otherwise the ones I've got are completely useless. Spend the extra coin and get a Glock 33rd mag. One of those is definitely worth 3 ets mags

  7. I've got one on my STI DVC. I don't have any other open gun experience so I can't really talk much about other options, but I like the triangle. It's a pretty good size, and on longer or tight shots I use the top point as my precise aiming point. But for most open targets or close partials just putting the triangle in the A works pretty well. I probably would like the 2.5 dot as well, I just happened to find the 7.5 for a decent deal so I jumped on it.

As far as brightness goes I keep it on the highest setting during a sunny day and it's still very bright and I've never had it wash out at all.

I've got about 1400 rounds thru my gun with zero issues so far. That's not much of a long term durability test but I'm not expecting anything less than a very high quality, durable optic from leupold.

  8. I switched back to a 13 # hammer spring. Brought my DA back to 8#. not too much of a fan of that!

Probably go back to the 11.5%. I may just use these for practice and monthly matches and use federals for big matches.

Thats what I did, but the 11.5 worked for me with the S&B. At bigger matches I threw in the 8.5 and federal. To be honest the trigger difference was minimal but the lighter spring is just so sweet. Although going up to the 13 was a big move from the 8 and I wouldn't have been a fan of that.

  9. I've shot 15-20k of them in SP in my M&P CZ and now Tanfo. They're definitely harder than federal. I could not use my 8.5# hammer spring in the CZ and can't use a light spring in my Tanfo with them, I'd get a small number of light strikes. Going to a medium Tanfo spring and 11.5 hammer spring in the CZ and they were totally reliable. I have not had the dead primer issue mentioned above and if I spotted them for $17 a 1000 again I'd buy a boat load of them.

  10. Not blue bullets but I just got into 9 major loading SNS casting 125s. Needed about 6.6-6.7 gr of WAC to get me into major at 1.160" oal. So far I'm happy with them. They do lead the comp and smoke like a freight train (while somewhat hilarious in video I don't really notice while shooting), but I figure that's the price I pay to be able to shoot more bullets for the same cost as MG or some other good jacketed bullet.

  11. Not quite sure why all the people with no experience with the guns give an opinion. My DVC 38 super ran great out of the box. Did add an Aftec & changed the ejector after about 2K rounds rather than re-tune the extractor that came with the gun. Now it has taken a little time to get the load & mags figured out, but that is my in-experience with these guns not the gun. I ran 100 rounds of 9mm and 38 super thru it last night at the range. It likes the STI mags and MBX's. Both run well. I am at about 3500 rounds of major. It takes some learning.

Like it so well my son just got his DVC 9mm 3-gun pistol yesterday and it ran about 300 rounds perfect right out of the box last night at the range. He shot various loads and all ran including using my STI 140mm 38 super mag with stock guts and no spacer or 9mm follower using factory 9mm ammo and our loads.

I shoot with several guys who have DVC open guns in 9 & 38 and all run well. I think it is a great value. With mags & holster I have about the same as just buying another brand.

Oh ya forgot about mags. Mine also has run great with MBX mags as well as the factory mags. Probably a majority of my rounds have been thru the mbx but I just shot 200 rounds on Tuesday with only stock Sti mags and it was without fail.

  12. I just took delivery last week of a DVC Open 9mm. Before firing a shot I had Cree Custom Guns install and fit an aftec extractor and a Cheely mount with a deltapoint pro. I then picked a random Load to start with on the low end of what everyone says they're loading... it's run like a top for 755 rounds. I have had exactly one malfunction (which cost me a stage zero at the last local- my first open match!) but that was ammo not gun. I failed to properly crimp the rounds and a bullet literally came out of the case in the magazine and then caused a doozy of a malfunction that did not allow me to finish. Again this is ammo- not gun. I checked and found several other bullets that would literally fall out of the cases. Chalk that up to me being an idiot.

Upon a check over I was told the overall fitting of the gun was good, and I can say that I'm pretty happy with the trigger. I'm happy with my purchase at this point.

To be noted, this is my first experience with an open gun so I'm far from an expert. It's fun as hell tho!

  14. Thanks Drew I like the Compactness of that Cheely. Also I see no interference with the Front Sight. This Gentleman would like it to be an easy transition From Limited to Open if he chooses. He will be Handicapped I bit as he won't have a Comp. But he mainly shoots 3 Gun. And it wont be that big a disadvantage.

Ahh yes it doesn't look like the sights wld contact the mount. But you would not be able to see the sights under the mount. It's pretty low - which was why I liked it.

  15. Roger That Jcc I was looking at their stuff. Very nice work and they look extremely Rigid. We want to be able to maintain the Open Sights and still install the Mount and the Dot. Is that going to be possible? Or is the Front Sight going to interfere? Sorry to sound ignorant but I don't have the Gun in Front of me . I'm looking at my 1911 which is close.

Most if not all of the 2011 micro dot mounts will not allow for iron sights as well. Unless there are options I'm not aware of.
