  1. To be honest I did not really make a point to look. I've put a little over 3000 rounds through the gun and the feed ramp is pretty uniformly polished. I haven't polished it and a pretty reasonable point was made that it wld take a lot of rounds to "polish" it and it would not be so uniform. I'm pretty confident that it looked he same when I got it new.

  2. Cree Custom Guns in Lafayette, IN. He is pretty new into the game and wait time won't be an issue. He built me a full custom 1911 that is nothing short of completely badass. Very good attention to detail. I'll attach a pic of the blended magwell on my gun in a min.. it's excellent.

  3. As I understand it springs dont wear out so much from being kept at capacity for periods of time as they do from repeated compression and release. Something to be looking out for on a mag that's kept loaded to capacity for long periods is feed lip deformation. I had Sig factory magazines that I kept loaded (using for monthly training as well) for 9 years in a duty gun and never experienced issues with reliability. I would probably not go that long again- and it sounds ridiculous even reading that now- but the mags never lost tension and I never had any issue that cause me to need to change them. That gun and those mags probably saw the amount of rounds fired in 9 years as my competition gun does in 3 months.. but at that time I had not yet discovered this world! Anyway, because they didn't get compressed and released constantly they have lasted a crazy long time.

Regarding feed lips it would seem that's a problem some people have found with sti mags- esp 9mm. I went with MBX mags and others go with svi mags and my understanding is that partly this is due to a little stronger/thicker metal that will prevent feed lip deformation.

  4. I just thought of a deliciously evil idea for mounting them in existing stands, on drop turners and swingers.

I just affiliated an indoor range with relatively small bays. We've had a couple matches so far and I'm finding the stage design options are pretty limited due to the narrow width of the bays. I think using half sized targets will really help us provide some variety, I'm pumped. I really am not interested in seeing these on traditional outdoor style matches tho...

Btw, when I bust out this target and NS set up I'll make sure to send people your way for complaints! Lol. I like it

  5. I would agree with several here. If you want to compete and gain in class and local rank, with the CZ in 9mm then stay production. If you just want a more enjoyable match experience I say shoot in limited minor. I spent my first couple years in production and found myself occasionally shooting a local in limited cause I enjoyed the freedom of 20 rounds in the gun. I actually think it's been easier moving up in production than other divisions I've tried. Limited and open have some serious HHF and shooting minor has totally handicapped me when getting classified in limited.

All this being said, if locally you have a huge contingent of one division vs the other, I'd shoot that division. I'd rather compete against 15 production shooters than 2 limited, or otherwise.

  6. I started with a M&P in B class. Got addicted to USPSA and went to CZ. Made A and started my way toward M. Switched to Tanfo cause I can't stop F'ing with stuff haha. I found going from Cz to tanfo is a minor change. Im a bigger guy, 6'2" 230 and the tanfo fit my hand really well, similar to Cz but larger. I always thought the Cz shot soft, but tanfo seems even more so. Very flat and really locks into the grip. I very much prefer the checkering on tanfo to the Cz. My gun was tweaked by a professional (bodkin) so the trigger is pretty good (bolo disco is great). The Cz trigger (Cz custom trigger job) is probably a little better, but on the timer there's no difference. Anyway, with the tanfo I made M and then shot an open gun....... so my goals of production GM got sidelined at about 90%.

Running drills I actually tend to reload the Cz a littler faster.. but overall I'm happy I switched and I'll keep the tanfo. No difference in match scores other than getting better as skill has increased.

  7. It's been a while since college.... But I'm fairly sure 15 feet is actually 5 yards.... I dunno I'll see if I can dig up some of my old notes and text books

Haha I was thinking that same thing. I'd also agree though that a 15ft zero is a serous waste of time. And you'd probably sending rounds over the berm.

  8. I'd have to think the Shadow will still be relevant to the same degree the standard 75 is currently. Some people will prefer the original frame ergos I'd guess, and it will continue to be a very reliable and accurate gun. I can't see the new model coming out having any impact on the future of the original 75 sp01 models

  9. One further issue I encountered (this one not totally my fault).... the screws provided with the jp shims were an incorrect diameter. They were very close and allowed themselves to be threaded on, but a few Range sessions later I found the optic completely loose and rattling from the mount. I ended up going to a local fastenal and they ordered me the correct sized / length screw based on the original screws diameter and the new length that I needed. THIS finally appears to be the complete resolution to my issue. Shims worked, but needed an 18mm length screw in the original mount hardware size- m4 .7 according to fastenal. Whew. Glad this is done.

  10. Shims should work as they should counter the angle, it sounds like you got a heck of an angle on that mount. Can you double them up?

As with most issues it was user error. I incorrectly installed the shim initially. When properly installed it did in fact correct the issue and my gun is now zeroed with room to spare on adjustments in either direction. Sorry for confusion.

  11. Did you put it on the correct direction? I don't know what the shim looks like, but could that be possible?

I went full retard. After thinking about this the rest of the day I swapped it and reversed the shim and went out back and woke up the neighbors. Sure enough the shim is now doing what it's supposed to and looks like I'll have plenty of room in adjustment to zero. Whew, being dense can really make an easy task difficult.
