  1. Trijicon RMR. That’s the only optic I’d use for a defense gun. It’s not the best optic for CO- but it will still work very well in that role. If they made a 50,000hr Deltapoint I’d go with that... but so far no luck.

  2. Hey all.. Maybe I missed this, if so I apologize, but I've searched and can't seem to find out if the a Walther PPQ M2 will fit the production box w/ the 17 round mags (stock 15s with +2 extensions). I'm sure this will get answered quickly and thanks to anyone who's got the answer.

  3. 3 and/or 4.

The targets are so close for this one you shouldn’t even notice the no shoots. I typically shoot this one left to right. So I start on the partial in the first string and end on it in the second string. I do it this way just because it’s more natural for me to transition to the right. That being said I’d venture a guess that the score would probably end up pretty close shooting in any order. The hard part about this classifier isn’t really the points, it’s executing the manipulations at top speed without a hitch. To smoke a 100 on this one you have to have a flawless (and fast) draw and reload on each string.

  4. Sounds like you’re in for the 650. Good call. I would echo what a few others have said and if the money is there look at the 1050. I loaded about 40,000 rounds on 650 before upgrading to a 1050- holy crap. The 1050 is awesome. Since then I’ve gone with an auto drive (ammobot) and I’m now in reloading heaven, which is to say I have very little time investment for lots of loaded ammo return.

If you’re loading to support 20-25k a year you will be spending LOTS of time reloading. The time savings of the 1050 could be quickly realized as worth the extra investment of the more expensive press.

  5. It blows my mind that they still sell the guns with slide rides mounted directly over the ejection port. Maybe it’s fine with 38 but with 9 it’s clearly the problem. It’s easy to find offset mounts that would allow keeping the slide ride or they could just make the jump to the micro dots- pick a brand- and be done with it and have a lot more happy open gun customers

  6. I️ have put one gram spring/follower set in a 9mm 170 MBX mag and had good luck with it. All my other mags for 40 and 9 I️ use stock MBX parts. I️ did find that I️ needed to stretch the springs to keep them working well. My standard now is to take my mags apart brush the tube and stretch the springs between stages and they run great. I️ stretch them till there is about 3 or 4 coils out of the bottom of the mag when the follower is fully inserted. Seems like a pain in the ass but it works so I’ll keep going with it for now.

That said, I️ do not stretch or mess with my mags/springs during practice sessions and rarely if ever have issues.

  7. 18 stops not stages
Classifier stages can be doubled up in bays
Allowing for more medium and long courses

Universal has the ability with bay sizes to allow for doubling of classifier/short courses. Example is that in the last large bay during World Shoot held 6 classifer/short course in what would be 3 stops.
We are looking at that being 2 stops with 4 new classifier stages in that bay.
We are exactly 1 year out and many things are being worked right now to plan these events.
There is a team of experienced stage designers and match directors are going to be getting assignments, myself and Troy are meeting this weekend to work on staff packages, hotel contracts and arrangements are being made.
We are working on calendar for slot release, slot registration and open registration. Sponsor solicitation has already started and as well planning for awards ceremony with assistance from Polk County Sports Marketing/tourism board.

I think this sounds pretty awesome. I’m pumped! I’d love for nationals to be in my back yard, however, I completely understand that a major range is needed for this type of undertaking and I’ve always been impressed by the USA facility. I am looking forward to next October!

Agreed. I switched to a steel grip and it has been great. The grip is consistent no matter the level of sweat or humidity.

About a week of dryfire had my hands used to the extra texture.

Same here. New convert to aggressive steel grip on 2011, LOVE IT. Not nearly as hand shredding as I thought it might be when I just handled a few before purchasing. I'm VERY happy with my purchase and adding one to a build currently. That said, these new textures look awesome.. not quite awesome enough for me to peel my hands off my aggressive grip and try one tho..

  9. +1 for the Trijicon. The fiber optic aspect of the reticle is mega bright. I have 2 of the TR-24s but I think the newer version, TR-25 is a 1-6x. I have not owned more expensive optics but I was very impressed and happy with the glass on the Trijicons.

    Here’s a link to a great review of the tr-24 :

  10. I’ve only ordered once- 2 cases - from Acme and they shipped fast. Due to an error, mostly on my part, the packages got shipped to the wrong address. Acme has been great about fixing the issue and getting my order sent out correctly.

  11. Yes I would send it back. And you’re right they’ll replace it with a new barrel with a slightly different side port cut. This is a common crack, seems like the initial design was flawed. My gun cracked exactly like that after 5k rounds. Sti was great to work with and replaced it.

My cracks were so hairline it didn’t seem like it would break anytime soon... but I was nervous to test it.

  12. My STI DVC Limited just started Hammer Follow problem and sometimes will not cock. How fast usually STI warranty turnaround? I have a major matching coming up soon?

I just recently dealt with a warranty repair for a similar issue. I shipped my gun to STI on 8/16 and it was repaired and back at my local ups for pick up on 9/16. I hate to have any problems with a gun, but I understand it can happen. STI has been nothing but awesome in regards to fixing any issues I have found.

Have you Shot your load out of a gun without holes? How much PF shift from a standard barrel to one with poppels? Just wondering if you have to crank up the load to work the extra ports.

  14. I've had 2 9mm DVC Opens now. First one was flawless till 5k and the comp cracked. 2nd one has had a few malfs but is pretty solid in about 4k.

With my first gun before I fired a shot I replaced the optic with a DP pro on a cheely mount and added an aftec extractor. After that it was flawless. 2nd gun came with the same optic set up, taken from my 1st gun and put on the new one by STI. They left the factory extractor and so have I so far. Maybe that's why I've had a few malfunctions when the other one didn't but so far it runs well and I haven't been motivated to change it out.

This is to say my gun was a decent gun, however, I read ahead and knew enough that the stock optic/mount set up was the primary cause of issues for ejection (or so it seems). I'm not sure why sti hasn't tried to go with an offset mount from the factory to avoid these issues completely. The cost of the offset cheely mount is $90, and you can sell off the stock mount for $50 in about 5 seconds. So for $40 I think you can make a serious step towards more reliable ejection..

Whether it's reasonable to have to put $40 into a 3700 gun to get it to run is another conversation...

  15. I started with an RHT on my open gun, but tried a Go-Guns gaspedal on my limited gun and found it to be perfect. I replaced the RHT on the open gun with go-gun

  16. I have no known good 9mm mags to test.
Mag tuning is yielding no results for me.
Its probably the gun and not the mags anyways.
So much for trying to buy quality stuff the first time.
Everything that could go wrong with this gun is going wrong.
Even the C-more doesn't work right! It doesn't even come close to being as bright as my other C-mores. It's brightest setting is only about 60% of my normal C-mores.
Sent message to STI days ago and have heard nothing.
I was psyched to get this gun but things could not be going worse.
Only choice now is to pour money into a gunsmith to get this $3600 paperweight working.
    Soooo disappointed....

Don't spend more of your money just yet. Even the best companies can have a lemon slip through the door. Call sti and talk to a person. I had my comp crack on my dvc and they were very good to deal with. I'd rather not have had the issue, but shit happens. Before you abandon ship at least talk to them about it and see what can be done.

  17. The hard to seat part is an issue for me.
They are difficult to load with one round or even no rounds!

If the mags won't even seat in the gun when empty than there is something wrong with the dimensions of the magazines or the grip.. and if you've tried multiple mags then I would have to guess likely the grip.

I notice a difference between my mbx mags and my stock sti mags. The sti mags actually seem to have more drag in the grip of the gun. They still drop free and insert and seat fine, but the mbx mags are just smoother, like they're ever so slightly smaller in outer dimensions. I also have a 9mm dvc open. I would try some other mags and if you still have an issue get in touch with sti. If other mags work then get in touch with mbx. Either company will make it right.

Other than that, random forum speculation will just lengthen the amount of time until your stuff is running correctly.
