  1. I've been messing around with one this year; like the others have said the dot is nice and sharp. If you read other reviews you will notice complaints about fisheye and tint; these are both noticeable but I don't think either take away from its capabilities. I wish it had a half setting between 3 and 4. 3 is invisible in sunny conditions and 4 is almost too bright for precision further away. This could also be me having limited time behind red dots though.
  2. If you are using a M-Lok or Key-Mod handguard another good option is from Arisaka Defense. http://arisakadefense.com/collections/light-mounts It uses a proven Malkoff head (or at least the flashlight geeks seem to like it) and gives you a direct attachment option for bolting to a handguard.
  3. ^^What he said. I think the firehose slows the movement of the static steel too much for a competition. The BC on a stand were really easy to see move.
  4. I've been using a Syrac Gas Block with set screws under an ALG EMR the past two seasons. Fits great and if you are looking for thin you won't find a rail much thinner than the EMR M-Lok V-1. http://algdefense.com/ergonomic-modular-rail-v1-m-lok.html
  5. The efforts of the volunteer ROs cannot be overstated. They definitely saved the match and the PNTC should be indebted to them for it. After shooting this match and a similar start up 2 gun series last summer I definitely see a place for a semi- precision oriented rifle/pistol match like we saw this weekend. Instead of asking what USCA offers that FNH or 3GN do not think about what it does offer. There is a large subset of the shooting population that own an AR and pistol but do not own or see a need for a 3-gun shotgun. This format brings people like that into the action shooting sport where they might have skipped out otherwise. There are some hokey rules but it seems those in charge are receptive to everyone's input. It could be worse at least we didn't need a 'cover garment'!
  6. May has almost come and gone and I haven't seen any updates on this. If it's a go I dont mind waiting but if it's falling through I want to try to get into something else. Anyone have any updates?
  7. I agree with Tony if possible I would use a rifle length gas port. Either way if you have an adjustable gas block I would think an H buffer with a standard spring would be fine.
  8. Bbates, you asked a lot questions in that post on a wide range of rifle topics. I think a lot of them will be answered once you shoot more matches. Why do you think your 16" barrel needs replaced? What is its current accuracy? Have you tried it with match ammo? For rifles, my suggestion would be to throw the Razor on your 16" gun and go shoot. Make sure your holdovers are figured out at the further distances. You can sort out what to do with the second build as you see the courses of fire, distances engaged, etc. I will say that a lightened bolt and adjustable gas block are almost a must for a game rifle. Ammo is in the same boat. If you are committed to reloading I would work up a few loads and see what shoots the best. Whatever suggestions the powder and bullet makers make would be a good start.
  9. The wrench and shims were designed to give you the proper torque on the nut while letting the gas tube to pass through. If installed correctly you will have no issues with torque or concentricity. I fit a Syrac Ordnance adjustable gas block under it with no problem. I doubt the clamp on style will fit though; just the set screw type. I dont have a target handy so I won't make any accuracy claims I can't back up, but it shoots very well. As others have said the barrel nut design is very solid and combined with a light tube rail its tough to beat
