  1. I've also got the mpx and I really like it. The ammo issue may have started with me personally. I was running some freedom munitions 9mm for USPSA and 3 gun. Damn thing would not cycle it. I tried 124g and 147g and got no where. Then I tried Arms Core, Winchester, Aguila, and some junk steel ammo and it all worked fine. From a function stand point it's awesome. Minimal recoil and I put a Geissele 3 gun trigger in it. Once I get my stamp I'm going to play with it in PCC.

Were you using like Gen mags in your MPX? I had some issues with the 125gr MG JHP + 5.4 gr 3n37 at 1035fps in Gen1 mags and a Gen 2 gun. Shortend the OAL that bumped me to 1135fps and traded the Gen1 mags for Gen 2's no issues now.

  2. I am all in on a SIG MPX for $2264:

    Gun + 3 additional 30 rd mags + 2 Blade -Tec mag pouches = $1476

    2 SP mag extensions = $75

    SIG Romeo 4B sight = $210

    KAK stock adapter =$45

Geissele Rapid Fire Trigger (B-GRF)= $169

KM panels, hand stop, grip, butstock, Misc = $169

    2 additional 20 rd mags + $120

Mine runs 100% with both loads I have tried:

    125gr MG JHP + 5.4 gr 3n37 = 1135fps

    125gr MG JHP + 5.6 gr n340 = 1245fps

I have used Blow back 9mm AR’s in the past, it was not even an option, locked breach or nothing for me.

  3. Personally I think the only problem is they are trying to place rifles in a pistol match.

If they put the division in Multi-Gun (where they already have the rule book for rifles) it wouldn't be an issue. RO's are already trained for it. Match Directors don't have to change much. The only short fall would be long shots for the PCC.

IMO, I like the division but it's a rifle and therefore belongs in a rifle match.

I predict PCC will become a separate match where pistols are allowed. Starts will be like steel matches but with movement.

At first I kind of agreed, it should be a different match, but really it is. Just like revolver shooters don't compete with open shooters. Each division is basically a different match, since you aren't competing against each other. If you aren't shooting PCC, it really has zero affect on your match. Other than maybe your ego is hurt when you see the combined match results?

I shot PCC this last match along with one other shooter on our normal squad, we were the first squad done of 3. It is just a different gun type the same as the other divisions. Before PCC I would sometimes shoot a .223 rifle with frangible ammo ( avoids damage on pistol steel) in 2-3 matches a year.

I don't understand the hate for PCC but I would support going back to NO Divisions, everyone heads up. The reality is that Production, Single Stack and Revolver divisions have Changed USPSA stage design (i.e. 32 round stage limit and eight round exposures). Back when we didn’t have Divisions and the early days of Limited we had 40-60 round field courses, and level 1 matches were 250- 400 rounds.

  4. Increased contrast lenses help with the dot. I use the following Oakley’s:

    Bright sunny conditions:

TR22 + Black Iridium ( Primary) ( vary limited availability: Radar Range, Ballistic Det Cord, M Frame 3.0 Hybrid)

G20 Black Iridium ( Same contrast as primary just a bit more light transmission and not as sharp as the Prism lens)

+ Red Iridium ( direct sun low over the burm)

Black Iridium ( direct sun low over the burm)

    Overcast conditions:

    Fire Iridium

    TR22

  5. I prefer stippled and undercut with a contoured and pinned grip safety. As for trigger I like the feel of a short curved.

Yea. My beavertail is pinned, undercut and blended ..thumb saftys are undercut and blended also so that they don't over hang the frame after I do the beavertail under cut and blending.

  6. Missing a few:

Grip: Thinned under cut and stippled

    Trigger:

    Bottom curved flat top

    flat bottom curved top

    Short Flat

    Long Flat

    Medium Flat

    Short Curved

    Long Curved

    Medium Curved

I am Thinned under cut and stippled Grip and Bottom curved flat top Trigger (2 guns) or Long Curved (1 gun) for OPEN

  7. Data suggest that the high cap divisions are both more popular today and are growing while only have 2 divisions to choose from. While low cap participation is less popular and is shrinking across all of its prevision 4 divisions.

So why add another low capacity division in Carry Optics?

to balance out the high-cap division of PCC.

No their were 4 restricted/ low capacity divisions before they added CO making it 5 to 2 (Open and Limited). When we add PCC it will still be 5 to 3. I agree I don see why we added a low capacity division with mags that need to fit the 140mm Gage.

  8. what it really boils down to is pistol shooters getting beat by carbines time wise :roflol: and they don't really like that

    This.

    Yes .. a PCC will suffer on relay close to the props tight shoots. But what it will allow on field courses will be a whole new level, I am talking things like;

    • Adding 15 yards to the distance you would normally consider with a pistol for taking paper targets and steel on the move.
    • Eliminating shooting positions by being able to combine arrays that might be 15-30+ yards farther than you would be comfortable with on a pistol
  9. I just don't like that we have another low capacity division being added 12 years after the "assault weapons ban" sunset. We (USPSA) have not added a single standard capacity division in that 12 years, we act like the ban is still in place.

We have three 10 round divisions ( L10, Production & SS minor) and two 8 round divisions ( Revolver & SS Major). 2 divisions that are limited by the magazine Gage, Open @ 29-30 and limited @ 20-21. keeping CO scored minor and allowing the mags that have to Gage on the 140MM side to fill to capacity will create a division that has a unique capacity ( 23) and opens things up to different stage brake downs.

  10. The 10 round limit is what makes Production/Carry Optics such a challenge. If you want an easier division with a higher magazine capacity then I suggest that a request be mailed to USPSA for Modified division and leave Production/CO as it was originally intended.

    News Flash:

Production Optics proposal was shot down by the BOD and is DEAD.

Carry Optics was approved with an intent to evolve the rule set over the provisional period

They are NOT the same thing

  11. 140MM Gage is in the rule set for CO already... Lift the 10 round limit an things will stabilize at 23+1 in 9MM and 20+1 for .40. making it a unique division capacity wise and the RO's wont have to use their toes to count (as that seems to be what was the concern at the last BOD review) mag Gage check at chrono just like open and limited..

  12. The problem when discussing slide weights is what is being left out of the total picture. Vary hard to compare weights when you do not know what the exact configuration was when it was weighed. For me I factor in everything that needs to be installed to function and move:

    · Sights

    · Firing pin and spring

    · Firing pin stop

    · Extractor

    · Recoil spring guide plug

    · Bushing ( if needed , not a issue with a bull barrel)

If I make a change, I do not want to have to strip everything out of the slide to get a new weight. Leaving your bushing and Recoil spring guide plug out will drastically change the quoted weight.

  13. post-5370-0-45139500-1456938925_thumb.jpOn my 6" 9mm for 3gun i used a SVI tri- toped slide with:

    • Front and rear accelerator cuts
    • .045" removed from the sides from the front accelerator cut forward (you must not have the internal bushing cuts done on a slide to do this)
    • 5” guide rod and plug
    • Cut back of the spring tunnel

    Pic of the lightening attached.

  14. Be careful turning a flat top in to a tri- top, I did this on 2 Caspian slides. The result is a vary light slide however on the 6” I did the slide stretched around the breach face area to the point that a case couldn’t be held on with any amount of extractor tuning or even a AFTEC. This was after about 120,000 rounds ( 5 -7 seasons). The thickness of the 3 flats is critical STI and SVI have engineered that in to their tri- top’s. I ended up replacing the slide with a STI tri- top and doing the lightening as:

    · SVI accelerator style cuts
    · 5” guide rod and plug
    · Cut back of the spring tunnel

Te second gun went to a 3Gun shooter that will see a slower round count accumulation spred over a longer time frame with full disclosure on the issue.

  15. I see 126 mags being more beneficial for an open shooter than a 155. Sometimes you need a flush mag when you have to place your gun in a weird prop.

My 140MM's are flush with my mag well ... a 126MM wont lock in to the mag catch due to crashing the magwell.. I prefer to reload 170 MM

What magwell are you using? Ive never seen a 140 sit flush, ever.

Mag wells are SHPD / DAA.. same as on the Limited gun in my profile pic.

  17. All of this bitterness could be mitigated if they simply sent out more frequent e-mail updates to all competitors BEFORE deadlines are past. Putting a post on a Facebook page isn't a viable option either in my book. They have all of our contact information (e-mail, Phone, mailing address, etc), why they choose to not use it is beyond my comprehension.

This is the only issue, some people received emails from the staff with instructions to ignore the USPSA emails. I did not, I only got 3 from USPSA. The Match web page has had nothing posted since 24 Aug 2015. ONLY posting information to facebook under the asumption that EVERYONE will see it is just wrong.

  18. I was working with S&W a few mouths ago on getting the M&P CORE performance center ported models on the Production list. I noticed today this was added to the S&W section of the Production list:

All ported models of approved guns are approved for use in Production and Carry Optics, as long as the barrel is not ported.

    mailed Troy:

Does this cover the M&P CORE performance center ported models as being USPSA production / CO legal, provided the ported barrel is replaced? I know I asked S&W to certify them to you a few months ago just wondering if this good to go now as they (S&W) consider it a CORE.

    His response:

Yes, the list specifies that ported models can be used, provided the barrel was not ported, and the CORE handguns are on the list. The performance center CORE models are approved.

The S&W ported models are now covered in the Production list the same way as the Glock "C" models have been in the past, provided that a non ported barrel is used.
