  1. I have 4 170MM and 4 140MM. I use 140’s on classifiers, otherwise I will use whatever combo works best for a given stage:

    Start 170 reload to 140

    Start 140 reload to 170

    Start 170 reload to 170

    Start 140 reload to 140

    all my mags work.

  2. We abused just about every available optic on my Unit (military) rifles. IMO the best balance of:

    · weight

    · durability

    · flexibility

Is the Trijicon TR24 1-4X with the Green triangle:

    · no batteries needed

    · solid black reticle if the FO washes out

    · lighter than a Aimpoint or Eotech and magnifier combo

If you can live with a little maintenance and want a BDC in your dials and reference hold offs in the reticle than the S&B Short Dot 1-4X with CQB reticle is the top of the food chain in combat optics. BDC dials are available for the 10.5” barrel to support M193, M855, & Mk262 / 75gr Hornady.

  3. " light short quick transitioning and flat shooting"

All of those quality's will be better with a major load and slower powder than they will be with a minor load and fast powder in this configuration.

3N37 loads at 168PF have 2X the dot movement as N105 loads at 178PF, 3N38 loads at 178PF are about 25% more movement then the N105 loads ( 75% less than the 3N37 load). N320 will not generate any gas for this configuration to use, i tried to develop a minor( 155 PF) load with N340 and quit, the configuration works better with a major load, but what do I know I have only been shooting this configuration, as a primary open gun since 1998....

  4. I have built 4 6” tribrid barrel guns over the years, I just bought 1 back from the 3rd owner so I now have 2 identical, a primary and a backup. Not really a good choice for Minor loads, they work much better with Major as in extremely flat but loud (for the RO, I never notice).

I run mine with super comp brass, but any 9major load with powders in the N350 and 3N38 burn rate range should work well.

  5. I also think the look is fantastic.. Grate features not available in the standard gun.. Tri top slide with serations that reduce mass.. I have one on order, the getto ass DVC is of no interest to me I already have 3 limited,3 open and 3 steel/ 3 gun 2011's...

  6. Wow, I don’t understand the crying on the DVC:

    · They expected to sell 300 per year

    · Launched at SHOT 2015 most likely with final prototypes on display

    · Received orders for 3000 units ( 10 years worth of planed production)

    · Shifted production capacity around to clear the 3000 ordered by the end of 2015

I think they are doing the best they can to meet an unexpected demand, without totally shutting down production on all their other models. I certainly want my 2011 HexTac from SHOT show this year also and would be upset if production on that stopped do to DVC demand.

  7. The pistol box looks short as in a 6" or 5.4” 2011 is not going to fit... that is a bit opposite of the current trend in limited.

I totally understand the height it lets you chose mag capacity or optic.

I think a length that would accommodate a 6” 2011 would see some interesting pistol solutions. As it is I don’t think you could get a shorty open 2011 ( Steel master . Match master, ect..) or a Tribrid II style open gun with a slide mounted optic in that box.

The very small size of the IPSC Modified box was what drove the cost of a gun to be so high and killed the division.

I am interested in this division as I really hate what the X rail and the Box fed Shot Guns have done to OPEN. I have been shooting slide ride Open pistols since the mid 1990’s. I just feel the box being that short is going to limit things to a Factory optics ready pistol with barrel porting or a 5” limited pistol.

I love box fed shotguns. Being stagnant with technology is a bad thing especially in open. But to each his own.

    Pat

Box fed and X rail shotguns, feel horrid in balance to me like trying to shoulder fire a M60 belt fed MG. Also I haven’t seen a box fed run a whole match without reliability issues yet, I don’t see that being resolved until some ammunition manufacturer steps up and makes rimless 12 GA.

This year’s SMM3G was the first time I shot 3gun since 2007, my shot guns both comply with the old max loaded at start rules for Open and TO so they are not as long as the current trend

  9. I've tried it but like 3n38 more. 3n37 is a faster powder. Not as fast as autocomp but close.

In terms of burn rate the good vv open powders go something like this

    3n37

    N350

    3n38

N105 (very close to 3n38 though most seem to prefer 3n38)

The issue with N105 is that it is only available in 1LB jugs, this drives the cost up. I rank them:

    1. N105

    2. 3N38

    3. 3N37

    4. N350

3N37 is third for me as my 2 Tribrid open pistols are right at the edge of showing presser signs with it at 168PF, that load in my old Smoking Hole open gun is a 185PF without the presser signs.

I had 4 LB's of N350 chemically decompose on me so I just try to avoid it if i can, loads great just hate throwing powder away.

  10. Sorry to hear you guys are having problems. Can we confirm that our springs and follower fix the problem?

I sent the MBX guy several emails and pictures( 4/27, 4/28) trying to resolve the issues with the crap springs he shipped as both spring I received have the same issues:

Springs show distortion in the following areas:

    · Middle of the spring exhibits a slight twist

    · Follower is canted to the right on the forward point

    · Follower is rolled over to the left

on 5/6/2015 I was told the spring is what he has used for 5 years to tune mags and is GTG the distortion is "looks about normal for a set spring in length and shape" ...

I pulled a TTI spring and follower form one of my first gen SVI 170's and that resolved the issues. The Tubes and base pad are GTG and don't require a spacer with 9MM, put TTI internals in and it is the 2nd best option behind 1st gen SVI mag tubes.

  11. A1 and BA9 were popular .40 limited powders in the mid to late1990's. SP2 is the Best OPEN powder ever.

I went to N330 and N340 for Limited .40 and will stay with them as loung as supply supports it, I would use Vectan again if supply of VV became an issue.

I would go back to SP2 over the 3 VV powders I now use (N105, 3N38,3N37) in a heartbeat if available.

  12. I have all 3 ( 4.2”, 5” and 6”) 2011’s all have lightened slides and I prefer ammo in the 150-155 PF range with 124 or 147 gr bullets. Absolutely agree on the 6” being the best for steel, but also it is the least tolerant of lower power factor ammo it needs to stay around 155 PF or the cycle timing becomes vary different than a .40 Limited gun. With that said a 6” lightened slide and 155PF is like cheating no recoil and sight tracking is wonderful.
