  1. I would like to set up a Steel/Limited type gun to use with a red dot. Considering Limited 40 or Gold Team 40. I currently load 9mm minor and 40 major/minor. Don't think I wont to go to SC or 9mm Major since I love reusing range brass and am not organized enough to properly track HOT load brass. Will the Gold Team comp have measurable effect with 9mm? 40sw? A used Limited should be around $900, a Gold team around 1100. Hope that people with great experience with both can share their wisdom.
  2. I just installed a 180H from Dawson on Stock 3 - love it. Had the 160 before and could glimpse a little of the slide. 180 with a green fiber give me a cleaner picture. Will mount same on Stock 2
  3. Use the BladeTech holster for the Match and dremel a square opening at the bottom to accommodate the rail. The gun will rest in the bottom edge of the opening and reduce slide scraping. You can also keep the screws loose. If you need it, can send you a picture of mine, tonight.
  4. I doubt the interruptor would change trigger weight - I do hope it reduces some of the takeup. Just got my hammer, sear and interruptor yesterday, will compare to stock dimensions a install on wednesday. Will install in Stock 2. Lighter hammer spring has already made a big difference and polishing the trigger mechanism will be a big improvement. Stock components are very gritty. I did experiment with an oversized interruptor in my Stock 3 and made a huge difference - use it for Limited and Steel, since it is not production legal. You can check out my posts on the subject.
  5. Thank god for cerrosafe. Whole job took 40 minutes, including melting and cooling. Slug came out with the shell fragment embedded in it. Used my hobby heat gun, no torch required. Thanks NEWBOY for suggesting cerrosafe. Cost me $15 for 1lb on ebay - should last a lifetime.
  6. Yup, thought of the brush technique as well. No good. Got the Cerrosafe . Will do the deed this afternoon.
  7. The case segment is a clean ring. Driving a lead bullet through the bore will size it to pass through the ring. Cerrosafe will arrive Monday. Will do a vid and put it up on Tube.
  8. Tried cleaning brushes up to 45, feeding through either side -used penetrating oil before hand. This bugger is stuck.
  9. I have a set of dental picks and soaked the barrel in penetrating oil - still stuck. Best bet is to wait for the cerrosafe. I waited too long for this gun, to risk messing it up.
  10. I ordered Cerrosafe and will get it in a couple of days. The tap is a good thougt but too much risk of gouging the chamber. Not worth risking a stock 2 barrel.
  11. Don't know the brand. Usually Herters, federal, Winchester. First time I've ever seen this kind of failure, not even in overstuffed open rounds - although those cases I track from new.
  12. Load is 3.2gr TiteGroup 1.14 OAL147gr plated. Have run at least 2000 rounds at this spec. This gun fired 30 rds before the fizz-pop. Bullet exited the barrel.
  13. A 9mm case blew in the chamber. It actually sheared off a .250 ring at the front, which remains stuck in the chamber. Rounds were loaded to minor PF so must have been a defective case, judging by the perfectly straight bushing of brass it left stuck in the chamber. Tried a pick to remove it but no luck. Would appreciate some removal ideas to avoid damaging the chamber.
  14. I have the match in 9mm and will be buying one in 40 also. I like 40 for knock down steel and have used it in USPSA Limited - great gun. 9mm seems to fetch a higher price, but I do not think it is warranted in the Match. The newer frame [with rail on front] does not fit the IDPA box so it can not be used there, The last used Match in 9mm went for $400 in my local gun shop. If you are going to use factory ammo, get the 9mm to save money. Since the Match uses a roll pin at the hammer, look for marks on the pin or the opening around it. Most people will not remove the hammer after just a box of ammo. Look at the sear face - any rounded edges, dings, mirror polished surface, etc., indicate alteration and or wear. The match sear is brownish/bronze in surface color. It is surface hardened and thus any polishing, stoning, will greatly reduce the life of the sear and create a likelihood of unintended ignition [machine gunning] - been there, done that. If the sear is light grey, it was replaced. The finish on the hammer wears off with use - it takes more then 200 rounds to wear away more than a little bit of the finish. Mags, mag pouches, holsters, can add up - it may be a good deal for you. If you intend to stick with steel, a speed holster may be a better choice - will also prevent scraping of the finish on the slide. No matter what, if the gun is in good shape, you will enjoy it. The initial cost will pale in comparison with you ammo, practice target, steel plates, and gas bills. Life's too short to count every penny.
  15. Can buy a 40 Match for less than the slide - very sad.
  16. Brand new Match 40 is 580.00, comes with 2 mags. 3 more is $75 from eaa. Holster is 70.00. Your deal on a used one is not too good. If it is the old style frame with super sight, I would pay the price. A 40 can be used fort Limited class, 9mm can not. Old style frame fits the idpa box.
  17. I know this thread has been dormant for a while but; Any one know if a fastfire mount has become available for tanfoglio Match sight notch?
  18. I popped out the spacers in my mags. Just smooth out the interior spot weld nubs and you are good to go. Long screw driver is all it took.
  19. What spring do you recommend as minimum for reliable ignition?
  20. i believe that an honest retailer can charge anything they want. If a seller wants to sell at auction they should just post an item at auction. If they are selling on GB then this gun is obviously In-Stock. Be honest and set your price as you want. I have the pistol so this complaint is not sour grapes.
  21. Running a 13lb. This frame is used for my 9mm idpa and steel slide
  22. I like my 22 conversion on the Match, but get a lot of light strikes. Manually re- cocking sets the round off on the second hit. Any advice?
  23. I purchased my Blued 9mm long slide for 289. Only 2 years ago. Make sure the cheaper one is a long slide. The standard witness slide is shorter than the 4.75" long slide.
  24. Oak hill has a store site and have the 9mm listed as out of stock at $969.00 I find it a little dishonest that they put their inventory on GB and never even inform customers of the gun's arrival. I signed up for notifications. Will not buy anything from them in the future.
