  1. Hi! There seems to be a few schools of how to break in a new barrel, and I was wondering what some of you guys might have to say. Next week I get delivery of my .223 Stag 3G upper - a feat that is not as easy as it sounds in Sweden.. The only way to own a AR/AK style semi-auto rifle here is IPSC (and very old competition format called "free-rifle" that nobody seems to know about), and it is currently a process that takes a few years. Yeah, you read that correctly - a few years. Finally last week my licence application was processed, and after 3 days on the desk of a laywer at the local Policestation (again, you read that correctly - a laywer have to approve any application that is for sport shooting...) they came to their senses and approved it. Sadly there are many districts around the country that denies any and all applications for AR weapons based not on the law, but on biased judgment. I think most of you Americans can relate to that seeing the firestorm around ARs that has swept the US for the past 2 years. Anyhow, I am quite green to the rifle bit, besides owning .22lr AR for IPSC Mini-Rifle. Any input an thoughts about it would be helpful.
  2. yay! .223 licence is sent :) finally!

  3. Missing the Swedish rifle nationals :/ My .223 license is stuck in limbo.

  4. Well here it goes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pxqq4nZHFU Had some trouble finding the dot, and as you might see I thought I had brainfreezed and forgot to turn it on Just glad some things has started to stick in the back of my head, like finger out when I started fiddling, or it would have been a DQ. Second real mental braindamage was after the reload where I miscalculated how fast I was going and thought I was about to go to far and might end up breaking 90deg left, and did a splendid deer-in-the-headlights stop... but overall, superhappy with the match, 3rd in Open out of 9, 4th combined out of 27. Only had 2 real struggles on the other stages, one where one of my shorter Magazines started missfeeding, cost me about 4-5 seconds, and one where I for some reason came up to the first target and just... looked at it for like 3 seconds Either way, feels like the things from Erics course is starting to come together. My feet shuffling is starting to make sence most of the time, I am faster in and out of the positions I need to be, just struggling with relearning my grip, but right now the path feels like it is infront of me. Going to take the offseason more seriously, since we have quite alot of it Thinking about getting a TM HiCapa SVI clone soft airgun for winterpractice since it looks like our new Indoor hall will not be fininshed this fall/Winter. All in all... why did I wait so long geting into this! It is sooo fun =)
  5. It has officially been in a competion (today). With limited practice, got to say I am happy with how it turned out. Still alot of things bounces around in my head efter the course with Eric. I even filmed the most fun stage of the day, but feel a bit shy showing it since I had a few brainfreezes. I did not do it justice! Like strugling with finding the dot (it is really not bright even with new batteries and full setting), trying to move to fast past a target having to do a panicstop
  6. Double Alpha Acadamy makes lefty thumbrests also. http://www.doublealpha.biz/gun-accessories/thumb-rests/daa-adjustable-standard-thumb-rest
  7. I am using CZUBs SP01 magwell > http://www.shop-cz.com/magazine-funnel-anodized-cz-75-ts-black/d-70738/ and fitment in the box is not an issue. I am also running the default fixed rear sights and a matching 5.5mm fiberoptic frontsight. However, the problem comes to the stock SP01 18rnd Magazines, which has _just_ a bit to thick magasine bottoms to make it fit inside the box (I acctually have a box that is -0.15mm just so I know I will fit inside a 0/+1mm box). I found that if I grind them down so that the pin from the baselock is flush in the hole in the basepad, it fits real nice.
  8. Hey Joakim, Great to see you on this board aswell We talked Before (Lars here, yo!).
  9. To my fairness, I knew it jumps around in 9x19 with minor loads as the comp does not work to its advantage, but in Erics hand it looked really flat from my Point of view and was like "aeuerrrhar well eauhruhrhure" Excellent course btw, anyone should attend a class from a top competitor, and the 2 days with Eric was brilliant. 100% Worth it.
  10. I can ask Eric in about 2 weeks time, as my club hosts a 2 day training course with Mr. Grauffel I am acctually quite nervous about it, I imagine he will find my performance, *choug* less then stellar
  11. That is sadly a weekend we have alot of local matches :/ But I have herd great things about the rifle matches in Finland, so going to a Nordic Championship is on my bucketlist
  12. Just wanted to say that the Leatham 1 is now in my Gunsafe! I got my licence application in the process, but thankfully there is something called "licence for loan" over here, meening the owner has signed a licence for me to borrow in the meentime. Super nice of the seller to do that. Put in the 9x19 barrel and went for a testdrive yesterday. (I only have about 350 .38 super rounds, so I will not waste them...) Hopefully I can catch some videos of it this weekend
  13. I think some of you need to send me some of your mad accuracy asap... I am in the worst slump so far, miles of the end of last season... Think I will go practice again , like right now...
  14. Thanks guys. Really like that Brian Enos forums are filled with helpful people that makes absorbing knowledge much, much easier
  15. Sort of getting cold feet, mostly becuse I am totally green in the whole 9x23mm swamp... I figured it to be .38 super (as I knew it is 9x23) but it was 9x23 Winchester... ie the whole .233 rem vs 5.56 nato thing. Brass was more expensive to buy, I would be the ONLY one in my club shooting 9x23 Win... Not a single shop sells 9x23mm Win in Sweden that I have found, only .38 super. I did a Quick readup on 9x23mm Win and it looked sweet but never took off like .38 super did. Am I boned? can you shoot .38 super in a 9x23 Win barrel? the words "wuaheiuaeuaheeiu" goes through my head right now.
  16. The current owner said it was built fairly new(ish) around 10 to 12 years old, even with the funky old aimpoint. the guy that bought and moved it to Europe was Swedish, not from Switzerland (current owners story). Then again I have seen my share of people confusing Sweden (vikings, blond chicks, midnight sun) with Switzerland (cheese eaters and chockolate producers). Either way, it is here, in my club, and I just made sure I have to spend my vacation on my balcony drinking beer instead of doing something fun I might have to send the SVI guys a mail asking for info =) After all... I figure they might remember something TGO has been involved with.
  17. Talked to the owner, a clubmember that lives and works in Another city for the time being. He wanted to keep it, but as the license laws are, you need to present competition results to be able to renew the license every 5 years, and he had none.. Part of me wants to shoot in the Open Division, had just not planned on it or another year or so but I refuse to see this gun to go to destruction so I have to wade through the horrible process of geting a licence for it.
  18. Nice info! Well, if that gun was built around that time (it has a SVI frame, dunno when they started building those) it has aged well, and I think it is still very competitive. 1250 bucks back in 1994ish should be around 2000$ today. I cannot find a new open gun (cz or tanfoglio, or similar) for under 5500$... I am waiting for the current owner to give me a call, I think I need to get this. Only Think I would do would perhaps fix a new mount for a c-more or my trijicon rmr. As it comes with 6 mags, of which two are 170mm's and a 9x19 barrel with comp for minor (for steel matches I belive). Only real problem will be the license process which over here is... painful to say the least...
  19. Hopefully, tonight I will have the story about Switzerland > Sweden
  20. Yeah, I PM'ed him about it. It is one of his "old" guns. Was sold to a guy that moved from the US to Switzerland. Getting some info about how it ended up in Sweden tonight when I talk to the owner for working out a deal =). TGO said some work had been done on it after he sold it, I figure mostly external changes. Only thing i know that did not work flawless was with the 9x19 barrel, then it had some feeding issues, but was told it was due to issue with the main recoilspring, and that is not expensive to fix in the end. TGO also told me the gunsmiths at Springfield had hidden messages for years in his guns, but he had not found the one on the barrel when he owned it =)
  21. It looks like I have to buy it... sigh... I wish I for once could save some cash
  22. I have already sold all the small children I could fine... Shooting is far from the only expensive hobby I got Next up is renovation of 2 rooms, moar stuff for my Scion FRS/Toyota GT86... that rifle build, and training session with Eric Grauffel in a few weeks, aswell as lots of training for the Swedish IPSC rifle nationals... But... I think I somehow can work this into my budget, there is always overtime
  23. Considering I am still far from the most cometitive shooter in IPSC, the gun would not do me justice. That said, now I want it...
  24. As I said, the asking price is 1500$... a CZ czmate is ~6000$ here, a Tanfoglio Gold Custom Extreme is even more, alot more... I can only imagine what the money and time spend on this adds up on this, but it must be alot more then those 1500$....
